PENCE, Tammera R. Tammera R. Pence, 46, died Saturday, October 30, 2004 in Community Hospital. She was born November 18, 1957 in Springfield and was the daughter of Frank and Yvonne Hickey. She is survived by her mother; one son Roger Pence; brothers Joseph, Thomas and Shawn Hickey; sisters Cathy Antonio, Bonita Lawson and Freda Antonio. She was preceded in death by her father, her husband James Pence and her brother Robin Hickey. Memorial services will be held Friday at 11 AM. in the Faith Wesleyan Church, 2420 East Home Road, with Pastor Paul Berridge officiating. The family is being served by the Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home.

ALLGIER, John W., II 47, of Springfield, died unexpectedly Saturday, October 30, 2004. He was born June 21, 1957 in Springfield, the son of John W. "Jack" and Donna (Smith) Allgier. He was the owner-operator of Woods-Allgier Funeral Home, Americraft Monuments, Newcomer Cemetery and ELB Landscaping. John was a graduate of Springfield North High School. He attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated from Urbana University with a degree in Marketing. He was a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. John was a member of First Baptist Church of Springfield. He was a member of the Springfield Kiwanis Club, having served as President in 1998-1999, and was a George F. Hixson Fellow. John was a member of Anthony Lodge 455 Free and Accepted Masons; the Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton; and the Antioch Shrine. He served as President of the Springfield-Clark County Shrine Club in 1990. John had recently served on the board of directors of Oesterlen Services for Youth, Inc., and had served as Chairman of the Benefit Auction committee. He was an avid sportsman, an instructor in personal gun safety and a member of the National Rifle Association. John is survived by his mother of Springfield and his life companion, Carolyn Ellett and several cousins. Visitation was held Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Woods-Allgier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. R. Stuart Rammes officiating. Interment will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. She had worked as a secretary for Wright Patterson for 22 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, 27 North Wittenberg Avenue, Springfield, Ohio 45502. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ray Miller in January 2004. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Marjorie and Imogene Provens, both of Springfield, Ohio; her godson and his wife, David and Rita Robert, West Alexandria, Ohio; three nieces, Vickie Provens, Sherry Provens and Donna Provens; two nephews, Joe (Sheryl) Provens and Tim (Becky) Provens. Also deceased were her parents; two brothers, Cecil Provens, James "Woody" Provens and a sister, Beulah Turner. Mrs. York enjoyed spending time with her family especially the little ones and had been employed at the Arbors of London for 22 years. Survivors include six children, Robert (Peggy) Fife, Hillsboro, Bonnie Schofield, Springfield, Carol (Larry) Orahood, South Vienna, Pam (David) Dillion, Mechanicsburg, Richard (Nancy) Fife, Hillsboro, Cathy Stewart, Urbana; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rice, and was a graduate of Springfield High School class of 1942. She was a member of the Women of Moose Chapter 429, the Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles 397, Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars 1031, and Omega Nu Tau Sorority. Nita was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Marlin W. Rice. Nita is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth H. Long, and by her daughters, Karen K. Katz (Dr. Theodore) and Marsha M. Frink (Jack). She is also survived by granddaughters, Dr. Carole D. Petersen (David) and Amy Lee Foust (William), as well as great-grandchildren, Courtney, Dylan and Eryn Foust. Other survivors include nephews, Marlin Rice, Jr. and David Rice, an aunt, Madylon Howerton, and sister-in-law, Eula (Judy) Rice. She is survived by her daughter, Connie; son, Dale (Dianne); sister, Doris; brother, Don; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Mom put her family above all and enjoyed our many family gatherings; playing piano, working of crafts, going to bingo and communicating by phone and letters to her many friends. She spent many happy moments with her Chihuahua Bridgette, whom she cherished. She will be dearly missed by all. DEATON, Donna D. 74 of Springfield died on Monday, November 8, 2004 in the Mercy Medical Center. She was born on April 5, 1930 in Springfield the daughter of William E. and Ruth M. (Holcomb) Dobyns. Mrs. Deaton graduated from the Springfield High School class of 1949. Donna's family remembers her as a loving wife and mother. In her day, Donna was known for her excellent baking skills especially when she used them to make her famous German chocolate cake and cherry cheesecake. She is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Ralph J. Deaton, daughter, Vicki Rogers of Springfield, sister and brother-in-law; Pat and Fred Routzahn of Florida, sister-in-law, Mildred Dobyns, numerous nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: James, Frank, Jack, and William. Kenny is survived by his wife Helen of 65 years, daughters and son-in-laws: Patty (Leo) Kelly, Marilyn (Mickey) Hannon and Cynthia (Stan) Erter. 15 Grandchildren and spouses: Mark (Ana) Kelly, Chris (Jackie) Kelly, Tim (Barb) Kelly, Kathy (Tim) Evans, Dan (Michelle) Kelly, Marybeth Hannon, Mickey (Rachel) Hannon, John (Lili) Hannon, Jodi (Patrick) Catanzarite, Kathy (Jeff) Cohn, Molly (Mark) Conway, Patrick (Roshni) Hannon, Doug (Amy) Erter, Christine Casey, Aaron Erter & fianc� Mona Shah, 29 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers Bob and Howard and sisters, Mary and Marjorie. He was the oldest member and a past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus 624 and always organized the children's games at the annual picnic. He also founded the Mueller Special Population Free Throw Contest, which is in the 25th year. Kenny was a retired senior volunteer, doing "Meals on Wheels" for many years. St. Vincent de Paul was part of his family and he always kept spare groceries just in case one of his "people" needed something. He followed his grandchildren in whatever interest they pursued. Kenny enjoyed the Cincinnati Reds, playing cards with his buddies at the K of C and the CCHS games. He graduated from Springfield High School and attended Wittenberg University. He worked at the News and Sun as a cub reporter and then at the International Harvester for 46 years. Kenny was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. He loved and served his God, family and community. He will be deeply missed. KLAPPROTH, Richard A. 77, of Fredricktown passed away Friday, December 31, 2004 at the Grant Hospital in Columbus following a fall earlier that day. He was born December 6, 1927 in Springfield, Ohio. Dick served in the United States Air Force as a Air Policeman during the Korean Conflict. He was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fredricktown, serving for many years as trustee and elder. He had been a Boy Scout for 65 years. Upon moving to Fredricktown in 1964, he helped re-activate Boy Scout Troop 342 and had served ever since as Scoutmaster and committeeman. His leadership has touched many boys' lives over the years. He was honored with many awards including the David Lantz Award, the Silver Beaver Award, Thrall Lodge 170 Community Builder's Award, the Asset Builders Coalitions "Make a Difference Award" and served as Parade Marshall for the 1997 Tomato Show. He was proud to be a member of the "Over the Hill" gang, helping to build the Fredricktown Community Library. He worked as a Pattern Maker for General Motors in Mansfield for 25 years before retiring in 1992. Surviving are wife, Marilyn; daughters, Kristi (Jeff) Kepler of Ashland, Kentucky and Karen (Michael) Mazzei of Cincinnati; five beloved grandchildren, Derek and J.D. MARKLEY, Mildred 87, of Springfield, died Monday, January 3, 2005 in her residence. She was born in Springfield on August 7, 1917 the daughter of Robert Wade and Nina R. (Heck) Dougherty. She was a member of Urbana Chapter 50 Order of Eastern Star. She spent thousands of hours volunteering at the Ohio Masonic Home and enjoyed painting ceramic figures and working on jigsaw puzzles. Mildred was most known for her crewelwork. She created many pictures of teddy bears, flowers, kittens, birds, and other beautiful scenes of which she gave most of them away for others to enjoy. She worked for Miller Frocks finishing little dresses with buttonholes and collar embroidery work, then retired from the City Credit Union. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Mary Lou Markley; granddaughter, Debbie Kay (Gene) Price; grandson, Roger Wynn (Shera) Markley; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Michele Price; great-grandson, Anthony Markley; niece, Lois Group; special friend, Michael Carney; her precious white cat Snowball; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Madison Markley, step brother Bud and step sister Virginia. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 6, 2005 from 5-8 p.m. in the Jackson Lytle & Ingling Williams Funeral Home, North Limestone Street, A Dignity Memorial Provider. John is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Mary Elizabeth (McBlane) Fent; two sons, John "Jay" Fent, Tim Fent and Cathy Saunders, all of Springfield; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Brian J. and Sandy Fent and their son, Nick, Dawn M. Fent and her daughter, Harley, Kelsey S. and Kolby R. Fent, all of Springfield. Our dad retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base with thirty years of service and was one of the proudest veterans of World War II that we knew. John was honored at the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1031 in 2003 as the "Veteran of the Year" and was a proud member of over fifty-five years. John cherished his long-term friendship with Frank Smith and Louie Stultz of Springfield. Dick was also a member of the Eagles Aerie 397 and the Union Club. Dick was a loving person and would do anything for anyone. He never knew a stranger. Many will remember him for his ability to talk for hours. He is survived by his loving companion Barbara Hicks; her mother, Janice and Barbara's two children Jason and Gerin Hicks. Richard had three children: son, Kevin Massie and girlfriend Eva; daughters, Jenny (Eldon) Timmerman, Lisa Brakeall and boyfriend Chris all of Springfield; brother, Bill (Bobbie) Robinson; three sisters, Mary (Mike) Olmstead, Penny Sam and Dolly Robinson also of Springfield. She was a member of Bowlusville United Methodist Church. Ruth also was a member of Elderly United where she was an avid euchre player. Survivors include a daughter Martha A. CHANEY, Springfield; three grandchildren and spouses, Cynthia and Ronald PATTON, Stephen CHANEY, Tracey and Michael PHARES; brother-in-law, David HIGBEE, Urbana, Ohio; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several niece3s and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Marion in 1982, two brothers Wilber and Gilbert SEGENTHALER, three sisters Margaret BIRT, Minnie WATSON and Leona HIGBEE. BISHOP, John Russell "Russ" 83, of Springfield, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, January 29, 2005 in his residence. He was born in Wildie, Kentucky on September 21, 1921 the son of the late James and Nora (Chastain) Bishop. Russ worked for 39 years as a truck driver, retiring from Yellow Freight and having previously worked at Schaefer's Bakery. He retired from Teamsters Local 654. Russ was a member of the Moose Lodge, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 397, and the Union Club. He was an avid boater and fisherman. Survivors include four children and their spouses, James R. Bishop and his companion, Dorothy of Cedarville, Donald G. and Rene Bishop of Springfield, Betty and Tim Hall of Springfield, and George R. and Rita Bishop of Springfield; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In his passing, Russ joins his beloved wife of 47 years, Betty (Riggle) as well as several brothers and sisters. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Litttleton & Rue Funeral Home, Springfield. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
