Opal Ellen Crossin, 87, of 1225 Cedarview Drive West, died at 12:50 PM, March 31, 1988 in Mercy Medical Center. She was born, August 7, 1900 in Springfield the daughter of John H. and Anna A. (Miranda) DETRICK. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, volunteer at Community Hospital. Survivors include a son, Jack of Springfield; three granddaughters, Katherine CROSSIN, Springfield, A. Beth EDWARDS, Ellen K. DENNIS, both of New York; one grandson J. Brian REDMOND, New York; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Sr. and a daughter, Anne Rita REDMOND. Her body was taken to the Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be sung at 10:00 AM, Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mass will be conducted by Father James Bramlage. Interment in the Cemetery of the Gate of Heaven, Mt. Pleasant, Westchester County, New York. Lucille L. Click, 77, of 602 Portage Path, formerly of 831 East Rose Street, died at 2:52 PM Saturday, April 2, 1988 in her residence. She was born in Springfield, Ohio on October 10, 1910 the daughter of Perry and Viola (CREAGER) DICK. She was a former employee of the Ohio Thermometer Corporation, Duigan's Beauty Salon, and former co-owner of Jean's Beauty Salon. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Robert McDANIEL, Mary Lou and John McBLANE, both of Springfield; six grandchildren, Marsha FRANK and Lisa HALLORAN, both of Springfield, Susan NEIHEISEL of Westerville, Ohio, Robert McDANIEL, Jr. of Ontario, California, John McBLANE, Jr. of Springfield, and Tab Allen McBLANE of St. Paris. She was preceded in death by her husband, John CLICK in April 1971 and a grandson, Terrance McBLANE in October 1986. Robert A. Crouch, Sr., 65, of 1039 Hampton Road North, Springfield, died Friday evening, April 1, 1988 in Community Hospital. He was a Springfield area resident most of his life and a retired Aerospace Engineer Technican from Wright Patterson Air Force Base, retiring in 1983 after 42 years of service. He was a world War II Army Air Force Veteran. Survivors include his wife, Rosemarie; two sons, Robert A. CROUCH, Jr. of Reading, Pennsylvania and Kevin Douglas CROUCH, stationed with the United States Army, Korea; a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Renee' Marie) CROUSE of Springfield; four sisters, Harriet HENRY of Jupiter, Florida, Katherine MEYERS and Helen BRANNAN, both of Brooksville, Florida, Dottie Jean UHLE of Miami, Florida; two brothers, Richard CROUCH of Brooksville and Andrew CROUCH of Miami. He retired from Bardol Oil Company. He was born September 23, 1908 in Vinton County, Ohio the son of Robert and LaVina (MAXWELL) KEPLER and had been a Springfield resident for 70 years. Mr. KEPLER served in the United States Army in World War II and he was employed by the International Harvester Company and several other local businesses until his retirement. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 397. He is survived by one daughter, Margaret Mary SAMSON of Tucson, Arizona; one half brother, Rev. William R. HANNAN of Springfield; three grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. KEPLER spent his last years with good friends Martin and Ann PELFREY. He was a former member of the Central United Methodist Church, a life long member of the Kiwaniannes Springfield and Ocala, Florida with 60 years of service, and a member of the Ocala Florida Elks Number 286. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. (Jane) CONRAD of Centerville; three grandchildren, Cheryl, Michael, and Scott CONRAD, all of Centerville. Gladys was a Wittenberg University Graduate and had taught school in the Springfield area for 40 years. Richard Alan Kalish, 58, of Yellow Springs, Ohio, died Friday, April 22, 1988 in Mercy Medical Center following several months of illness. He was born, January 28, 1930 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio the son of Max and Alice (NEWMAN) KALISH. He was Dean of the Individual Arts program at Antioch University. He was a graduate of Antioch college in 1951 majoring in Psychology, where he also taught. He held a master's degree in psychology from the University of Maryland in 1954 and a Ph.D from Case Western Reserve University in 1957. Survivors include three children, Daniel KALISH of Berkley, California; two daughters, Leah KALISH also of Berkeley; and Rachel KALISH, a student at Antioch University; his mother, Alice KALISH of Yellow Springs and a brother, James KALISH of Washington, D.C. He was a civil engineer and Director of Marketing for the Kokosing Construction Company, Fredericktown, Ohio. He was formerly employed for many years with Fry Incorporated of Springfield with whom he served as President. He was a graduate of Ohio State University with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. He was a member of the Society of Civil Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Society of Professional Engineers, the Society of American Military Engineers, and the Engineer Society of Western Pennsylvania. He was formerly a member of the Springfield Rotary Club and more recently of the Rotary Club of Mount Vernon. He was a former member of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Covenant Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. He was born February 20, 1904 in Levanger, Norway, son of Ludwig and Oline (NILSEN) OSTBORG. Mr. OSTBORG came to the United States in 1912 and resided in Concord, Massachusetts. He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1926 and worked as a Design Engineer for Ingersoll-Rand Company in Phillisburg, New Jersey until 1936. He joined the Engineering Staff of the A.O. Smith Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was employed there from 1936-1938. Mr. OSTBORG came to Springfield in 1938 and was the Assistant Chief Engineer at National Supply Company until 1951 he started his own Design Office which served a number of local industries as well as firms in other cities. He retired in 1986. He attended the High Street United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Rotary Club, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Society of Automotive Engineers. He was past president of Young Mens Literary Club, Springfield Engineers Club and Springfield Civic Theater. He is survived by his wife, Inez "Sherry" (SHARRARD) OSTBORG; one brother, Paul H. Reva Camella (Graham) Chiles, 83, of 923 Park Avenue died Tuesday, May 17, 1988 in her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born, November 15, 1904 in Waynesville, Ohio the daughter of Albert N. and Ardella GRAHAM. She was a member of Deliverance Tabernacle and retired from Perfection Laundry. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Charles Leroy CHILES; four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Faye) CONLEY, Donna Belle HULBROOK, Arlene Kay GREEN and Mrs. John (Carole) FALKENBACK, all of Springfield; one step-daughter, Francine STAHLER of California; also fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; along with a number of nieces and nephews. He was born on June 21, 1963 in Springfield, Ohio the son of Payton R. and Joyce (SALYER) WILLMETH, Sr. He was employed by the Ohio Skid Company. He is survived by his mother, Joyce WILLMETH; two daughters, Brandi WILLMENT and Amber WILLMETH; one son, Payton, III; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Brenda and Mark HELTON and Debbie WATSON; one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Annetta WILLMETH, all of Springfield; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; his girlfriend, Tina DOWELL; and a close personal friend, Robert MILLER. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Zone, retired from Navistar after 31 years service, was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Fraternal Order of Eagles 397. He is survived by his his wife, Mildred WOODRUM; two daughters, Mrs. E. LAYTON (Sharon) PATTERSON of West Point, Utah and Mrs. James J. (Shelia) HOSBURGH of Vale, Colorado; three grandchildren, Woody, Burgandy, and Mitch PATTERSON all of West Point, Utah; three sisters, Madge HARLESS of Springfield, Alva MASON of Alameda, California, Irene MCBRIDE of Athens, Ohio; three brothers, Okey of McArthur, Ohio, Ralph of Athens, Ohio and Leonard of Las Vegas, Nevada; several nieces and nephews. ZELASKI; three daughters, Mrs. Terry (Linda) BARTLETT, Mrs. Richard (Carole) RYAN, and Mrs. Douglas (Alice) McGINNIS, all of Springfield; one son, Bryan ZELASKI, serving in the United States Navy aboard the U.S. S.Kitty Hawk; eight grandchildren; several aunts and cousins. She will be taken to First Freewill Baptist Church and lie in state there on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the service time at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mark RUCKER officiating. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. His body was taken to the Dennis L. Porter Funeral Home where friends may call after 12 Noon on Wednesday with the family present from 7:00-9:00 PM.
