�O. Calvin Pencil, 73, of 4796 Dialton Road, farmer and lifelong resident of Clark County, died at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday in Mercy Hospital after a few hours of illness. Born September 23, 1895 in Clark County, the son of Elmer and Flora McFarland Pencil, he was a member of the First Church of God. Mr. Pencil is survived by his wife, Lillie; five daughters, Mrs. Catherine Haulman of Urbana, Mrs. Carol Rhonemus and Mrs. Luetta Haulman, both of Springfield, Mrs. Emma Johnson of Seattle, Washington, and Mrs. Velma Taber of North Hampton; seven sons, Albert and Robert of Springfield, Harley of Urbana, and Charles, Dean, Jerry and Doug of North Hampton; 39 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Wollum of Springfield, Mrs. Gladys Free of New Carlisle, Mrs. Ethel Kaffenbarger of North Hampton, and Mrs. Hulda Koon of Anderson, Indiana; two brothers, Herbert of Springfield and Edgar of North Hampton. Mr. Pencil's body was taken to the Richards Memorial Home where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Church of God by the Rev. Harold Boyer, pastor. His body will lie in state one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, North Hampton.

Wesley H. AULT, Sr., 81 of 502 Rice st., a retired employee of the William Bayley Co., died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday in Community Hospital. He had been in failing health for two years and seriously ill the last month. Mr. Ault had lived in Springfield for the last 60 years. Born Dec. 11, 1887, in Marion, he was the son of William and Melissa FRALICK AULT. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Helen; two sons, Paul and Wesley, Jr., both of Springfield; one daughter, Mrs. Irwin (Louise) DAVIS of Springfield; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was the last survivor of his immediate family. His body was taken to Littleton Funeral Home . Services will be held at l:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Murphy, pastor of the First United Church of Christ, in charge. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

Elmer L. FRYANT, 67, of Alexandria, Va., formerly of Springfield, died at 5:20 p.m. Monday in a hospital in Alexandria. He was born Aug. 8, 1901 in Ohio, the son of Elmer M. and Mary HAEGELE FRYANT. Survivors include a son, John L., of Alexandria, Va. Graveside services will be held at the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens at 12:30 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Leonard Mann, pastor of the High Street United Methodist Church will officiate.

Michael C. ANDERSON, 74, of 2130 S. Limestone st., was pronounced dead at his home at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday according to the Fire Division emergency squad. He had been in failing health for two years. He was born April 7, 1894, in Wolfe County, Ky., the son of Robert F. and Haney ARNETT ANDERSON, and had lived here 47 years. Mr. ANDERSON was a retired dairy farmer and a retired employee of the William Bayley Co. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Lewis County, Ky. Survivors include his wife, Audrey; four daughters, Mrs. Rena DENBOW and Mrs. Glenna PRESTON, both of Springfield, Mrs. Wanda EVANS of Urbana and Mrs. Nora Fae SHAKRO of New Carlisle; three sons, Courtney L., Earl D, and Wayne all of Springfield; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His body was taken to the Richards Memorial Home.

A member of the Columbus Avenue United Methodist Church, Mr. Barclay was a retired employee of Ox Fiber Brush, Co., Frederick Md where he resided for a number of years. He was born Nov. 4, 1888 in Chillicothe. Surviving are his wife, Bertha A. WHITTINGTON BARCLAY; a daughter, Mrs. Donna B. HUFFER of Middletown, Md; three grandchildren, Donna Jean HUFFER, David Barclay Huffer, and Marvin Lee HUFFER of Middletown, and two nieces and two nephews. Mr. Barclay's body was taken to the Littleton Funeral Home where Rev. Frank L. Cross, pastor of the Columbus Avenue United Methodist Church, will conduct services at 11 a.m. Saturday. Mr. ANTHONY, who was vacationing in California, was born Nov. 4, 1906 in Union Furnace, O., the son of Marion and Cynthia DUFFEY ANTHONY. He is survived by his mother of El Cajon, California.; his wife Martha; two sons, Jerry Robert of New Carlisle and Charles Earl, now serving in the USMS in North Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Lula) DAVEY of Northridge and Mrs. Arthur (Katherine) Wilson of Springfield; two brothers, Oliver of Siddell, La., and Billie of Enon, and two grandchildren Shari and Penni ANTHONY of New Carlisle. Peter SCHEERSCHMIDT, 77, of the Bancroft Hotel, a lifelong Springfield resident and retired employee of the International Harvester Co., was found dead in his residence Monday morning. He had apparently been dead for several days and death was attributed to natural causes. A member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and U.S. Army veteran of World War I, Mr. SCHEERSCHMIDT , was born in Springfield , Jan 3,1892, the son of Ernest and Anna SCHRAMM SCHEERSCHMIDT. His wife, Mina, died in 1962, and he is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. SCHEERSCHMIDT'S body was taken to the Conroy Funeral Home where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday. Services will be conducted at 10 am Thursday in the funeral home by the Rev. He was born in Adams County on Nov 4, 1898, and resided in Holland County, near Leesburg, until moving to Washington C.H. in 1945. After retiring from farming, he worked in a lumber yard for 15 years. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and attended the Hardins Creek Friends Church. Surviving is his wife, Myrtle; two daughters, Lena of Columbus and Betty of Atlanta, GA.; five sons, Cassius and Robert both of Springfield, Paul of Columbus and Hugh of Washington C.H., John of Greenfield; 12 grandchildren; a son, LeRoy, died in California in 1960. She was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church and a member of Ladies of Grace Bible Studies Group. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Martha BUCK of Topeka, Kansas, Mrs. Jane HEDINGER of Wheeling, West Virginia, and Mrs. Eva PIERCE of Springfield; one sister, Mrs. Margaret HOHLMAYER of Springfield; two brothers, John and Clarence USTLER of Apopka, Florida; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. BLOOMFIELD, 20, of 4264 Rebert Pike, who was killed in action in South Vietnam less than two months after he arrived in the war zone will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Jackson, Lytle and Coffman Funeral Home, with the Rev. Leo Buschur, pastor of the First Baptist church of Enon, officiating. Friends may call in the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Enon Cemetery. BLOOMFIELD'S father, William, said a telegram from the Department of Defense reported his son was killed Monday, June 2, in a clash eight miles south of Da Nang in the Quang Nam Province. A 1967 graduate of Greenon High School, Pfc. BLOOMFIELD entered military service Oct. 3, 1968, and arrived in Vietnam April 6. At Greenon he was a member of the varsity football and baseketball teams. Survivors other than his parents, William and Beulah M. Ralph Edward ZIRKLE, 70, of the Ridgewood Nursing Home, died at 8:30 am Sunday following five years of failing health. He was a well-known figure in music and a teacher of many young pianists in the Springfield area. Mr ZIRKLE had a wide musical background, was the former operator of the Zirkle Music Studio and originator of the Zirkle Music Club. He studied piano at the Wittenberg College School of Music and in New York under Leroy Lambert. A graduate of the American Conservatory in Chicago, Mr ZIRKLE studied in Paris at the Paris Conservatory and in Florence, Italy. He had also served as a judge for the National Piano Teachers' Guild and toured the country with performances for a number of years. Mr ZIRKLE was also former owner of the old Huffman homestead on Lower Valley pk. In appreciation for his services, the Memorial Hall piano has been dedicated to Ralph ZIRKLE. Mr ZIRKLE was born in Springfield July 18, 1898, the son of Forrest and Effie HUFFMAN ZIRKLE, and lived in Springfield all his life. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ and St Andrew's Lodge No. 619 F and AM. His body was taken to the Richards Memorial Home where friends may call from 7 to 9 pm Monday and from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday. Born in St Henry March 27, 1888, the daughter of Frank and Philomena HERMANN ROMER, she was a member of St Raphael Church. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Robert (Helen) KUNK; Mrs. James (Marjorie) FAHY; and Mrs. Thomas (Mary Kathryn) BOYLE, all of Springfield, Mrs. Frank (Betty) MCCANN of Fairborn, Mrs. William (Eileen) HARPER of Helena, Mont.; two sons, Jack R. She had been employed as office manager for Station WSMB, New Orleans, until her illness. She was born in Springfield on June 17, 1932 and attended Springfield South, graduating in 1950. She attended Wittenberg where she was affiliated with Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She also attended Bowling Green State University. While in Springfield, Mrs. LeBlanc was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was active in Civic Theater. Survivors include her husband, Richard; two sons, Dennis and William, both of New Orleans; her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Roger WHITTINGTON; three sisters. Mrs. Fred (Shirley) NEUHARDT, Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) BRADLEY, and Mrs. Harold (Vicki) MCCOY, all of Springfield. Local Man Killed, Five Hurt in Wyoming Crash -- Frank J. McLean, 45, of 1847 Quincy rd., was killed and his wife and four children injured in a two-car accident Monday near Cody. Wyo. Mr. McLean was reportedly killed instantly in the accident, which occurred 15 miles east of Cody, on U.S. 20 at 2 p.m. His wife, Dorothy, 43, who was driving the auto, was listed in "satisfactory" condition at West park hospital in Cody. A daughter, Marilyn Sue, 16, sustained a broken leg and ribs; two sons, James F., 13, and Fred, 8, suffered fractured skulls, and another daughter, Joann, 8 also was injured. The Wyoming State Highway Patrol identified the drive of the second auto as Robert W. Roth, 32, of Glenview, Ill. He, his wife and their two children reportedly escaped serious injury. The park County coroner said the McLean auto was headed east when Mrs. McLean apparently lost control on a downhill curve and missed the turn. The car spun sideways and was struck broadside by the westbound Roth auto. Mr. McLean was on the passenger side of the front seat. The McLeans had been vacationing in the West and were heading home a family member said. Mr. McLean, a computer systems analyst at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, had three daughters at home, Donna Jane, 18, Mrs. Mark (Julie) Dever, 22 and Mrs. Peggy Ann Sims, 20. Mrs. Dever had just returned from West Germany, where her husband is stationed in the Army. She had been overseas for two year and returned with her young son. An autopsy is to be performed in Cody Tuesday and Mr. McLean's body will be brought to the Conroy Funeral Home. Born in Springfield Aug. 29 1923, a son of Fred L. and Lillian Ostermann McLean, he was a lifelong resident of the community and had been employed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for 20 years, having received an "outstanding performance" rating March 8. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, where he was active in the church choir, the Holy name Society, K of C Council No. 624, and a Navy veteran of World War II. A graduate of Catholic Central High School and Dyke and Spencerian Business College, Cleveland, his major hobby was color photography. For the past two years he took the grand prize for color slides at the Clark County Fair. Other survivors include tow sisters, Mrs. Florence Gibson of Springfield and Mrs. Rosalyn Keifer of Mt. Clemens, Mich.; five brothers, John, William T., Robert and Joseph of Springfield and Edward of Dayton; one grandson and a number of nieces and nephews. A brother, Fred, and sister, Mrs. Mary Jung preceded him in death.

Mrs. Florence SHAFER BROWN, 79, of 1925 S. Center st., died at 1 a.m. Friday in Mercy Hospital. She was born June 30, 1890, in Springfield, the daughter of Albert and Lydia KREGLOW SHAFER, and had lived here all of her life. Mrs. BROWN was a member of the First Lutheran Church. Her husband, Wilbur, preceded her in death in 1963. Survivors include one niece, Mrs. Merrill (Jeanne) WELLER of Springfield, and several great-nephews and cousins. Her body was taken to the Jackson, Lytle & Coffman Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours in the funeral home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home in charge of the Rev. David MICHEL. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 23, 1902, in Fremont, O., the son of Rolland and Kathrine ZIGLER REAM. He was a 42-year employe of the Western Union Telegraph Co, retiring two years ago. Mr. REAM was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Robey Lodge F, and A.M. of Monroeville, O., and the Springfield Amateur Radio Club. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; one son, Donald; three granddaughters, Kristine, Kimbery and Kari REAM, all of Springfield. His body was taken to the Littleton Funeral Home. Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Grace Lutheran Church in charge of the Rev. Donald Gillhouse, pastor. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Monroeville, O.
