EVILSIZER, EVILSIZOR Name of Newspaper is Daily Citizen, Urbana, OH on Friday, November 17, 1891

Mrs. Christina EVILSIZER, who had been a helpless invalid for three years, died at her home in Tremont City, last Saturday morning and was buried at Nettle Creek Church Cemetery Monday afternoon, aged 81 years. A husband and nine children survive her.(Editor: She is not listed in this cemetery)

John CALLISON, was born in (Clark Co.) Ohio, March 5, 1822. Moved from Ohio to Delaware County, Indiana and there to Henry county, Iowa, near Mt. Pleasant. About 1852, he moved to Putnam county, where he has since resided. He responded to his country's call, and in 1861 enlisted in Co. B of the 18th Mo. Infantry and remained in the service for four years. Upon his return, he resided upon his farm in York township until about ten years ago, when he moved to this city. He was a member of Thos. G. Wade Post, G.A.R. of this city, and also a member of the Methodist church, and lived an upright, exemplary life, one worthy of emulation. Six children, three sons and three daughters, survive the deceased, viz: William, George and Henry CALLISON and Mary CALLISON, Rebecca CHINN and Lizzie REYNOLDS, all of whom are residents of the County, Mary and Henry in this city. The remains will be taken to Powersville on the train today and after brief services at the church there tomorrow, conducted by Rev. H.B. Powers, will be laid to rest in the Wyreka cemetery beside those of his wife, who preceded him to the ever green shore.

William EVILSIZOR, Sr. was born in Kanawah County, Virginia (now West Virginia) June 8, 1808. He emigrated to Champaign County, Ohio, with his parents about 1814. The Evilsizors came originally from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. In the fertile valley of Mad River Township, Champaign County, they settled on the farm of Abraham Pence, later owned by W S Garret. The County then was a dense forest. The red man and wild animals were common features. Many trees had been felled, in order to make a way for their present home, and it is certain that the deceased did his share of the work for his life of industry, economy, and honest integrity. Here he prospered, sufficient to gain means which placed him beyond want. William Evilsizor, Sr. and Nancy Jenkins were married December 10, 1829, in Champaign County, Ohio. Their marriage applications noted that Edward Jenkins, brother to Nancy, made oath that his father gave consent. To this happy union were born thirteen children, seven sons and six daughters. After 29 years, their happy union was severed by death of the wife, which occurred February 15, 1858, at the age of 44 years. Again he was married May 26, 1859 to Frances Jane Allison. They had seven children, four sons and three daughters. After 26 years, their union was severed by the death of his second wife on March 31, 1885, at the age of 54 years. Mr. Evilsizor has 20 children. 11 sons and 9 daughters. About 14 years before his death, he united with the Harmony Baptist Church. He was baptized by his brother Rev Henry EVILSIZOR, who was a minister in the Christian Church. To this church, he proved faithful until death, leaving two aged brothers, Squire and Allen. He departed this life July 25, 1892 aged 84 years, 1 months, 15 days. Of this family death has now removed a loving and kind father, mother, and step-mother, 4 brothers and 2 sisters, while 7 brothers and 7 sisters with a large number of grand and great grandchildren. It has been said that Mr. EVILSIZOR, was a large portly man with a black beard, who could crack a hickory nut with his teeth at age 80. William Evilsizor, and his two wives are buried in the Nettle Creek Cemetery, Mad River Township, about a mile south of Westville.

Mrs. Catherine SHAFFER, aged 74 years, died Tuesday morning, November 29, 1892 at her home 76 North Factory street. The cause of her death was dropsy, from which she has been a sufferer for some years. The deceased was born in Lancaster, Pa and was the wife of David SHAFFER, a former prominent citizen and the owner of the big quarry west of town. Funeral from the residence Thursday at 2 p.m. Internment at Ferncliff.

She had been suffering from malarial fever for several weeks. Mr. SHAFER is seriously ill from the same disease. The funeral of Mrs. SCHAFER will take place Tuesday at 8:25 a.m. from St. Bernard's church. Deceased was the mother of John SCHAFER, of the Cadet band.

The sad intelligence reached this city Saturday night of the death of Mrs. Anna HAYES, wife of Prof. James HAYES, of Greeley, Col., and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William A. BARNETT of East High Street, this city. The deceased had been here all summer and left last Wednesday morning for her home. She arrived there Friday morning and died Saturday afternoon. The remains will be brought here for interment. They will arrive next Wednesday.

William CALLISON, one of Fulton County's old and respected citizens, died at his residence in the south part of town Friday evening, after a brief illness resulting from a paralytic affection. Mr. Callison was born in Clark County, Ohio, seventy four years ago, and was a member of the Methodist church from his boyhood. He was the father of ten children and an honest, conscientious and kindly citizen. Rev. Delp preached the funeral and the remains were interred Sunday afternoon in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Pioneer Gone Death of John KIBLINGER, of Near Eagle City, German Township, A Man Known Throughout The County for His Open-Handed Hospitality John KIBLINGER, of of the pioneer citizens of this county, and for years a prominent and active member of the Clark County Board of Agriculture, died August 17, 1894, at his residence near Eagle City, German township. Deceased was born September 11, 1816, on the farm on which he died and within a stone's throw of where he died...He was reared amid the stirring scenes and incidents of pioneer life and his stories of those wild old days were extremely interesting. Game at that time was abundant, and Mr. KIBLINGER for years reveled in a sportsman's paradise and shot deer, wild pigeons, turkeys and other game by the wholesale. One thrilling incident he was fond of relating and that was the fact that his father hid him in the decayed stump of a tree one whole night while the Indians from Northern Ohio passing down the river, camped near the KIBLINGER cabin and made the night hideous with their yells. Mr. KIBLINGER'S first wife was Miss M. J. PENCE, who he married February 23, 1837. Two children survive this union, Mrs. Eva WYRICK of this city and Mrs. Jacob HATZOG living at the home place. He was married the second time to Mrs. Elizabeth RIEGEL December 12, 1847. Three children survive this union, viz: Mrs. Cooper LUDLOW, Mrs. Charles MYERS and Sylvanus KIBLINGER, all of whom live in this city. Mr. KIBLINGER was one of the originators of the Clark County fair and has been a director for years. He was held in highest esteem by all who knew him and was noted far and wide for his kindness of heart and open hospitality. At the time of his death he was a member of the Baptist church. The funeral services will be held at the residence Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock.

Died BARTON�at the residence of M. H. FINNEY in this city, Wednesday, May 15, T. J. BARTON, aged 80 years and 8 months. The deceased was the father of Mrs. M. H. FINNEY and with his wife has been making his home with his daughter and son-in-law for the past three years. He had been in poor health for some time past and during the last few weeks had failed rapidly necessitating the call of another daughter, Mrs. NOURSE, to his bedside, to assist in caring for him. A son has also arrived to be present at the funeral which will take place from the house tomorrow afternoon at 2:30. Mr. BARTON was born in Clark County, Ohio, in 1814, his father being one of the earliest settlers in what was then a far west and uncivilized country. For over seventy years Mr. BARTON was a resident of Clark county, a prominent man in business and political circles. He witnessed the settling and upgrowth of his native state through all the trying years of early inhabitancy and through the disorders and troubles, internal and national, that have occurred during the past half century and has seen it become almost the immediate center of the population of our great country instead of the very western edge of civilization such as it was in his early youth. He was married in 1886 to Sarah BIDDLE and the union was blessed by the birth of thirteen children, twelve of whom remain to mourn the death of the aged father.

Julia A CALLISON was born in Clark County, Ohio Oct 6, 1831. Died Feb 5, 1896, age 64 years, 3 months and 29 days. She was married to W.W. Callison, Dec 4th, 1851 and moved with her husband to their farm in Whitley county in the year 1852, and continued to reside there until 1871, at which time she moved to Roanoke, where she lived until her death. She was stricken with a severe attack of la grippe immediately after her husband's death, which occurred about three weeks before. The funeral occurred at the residence, Friday and the sermon was preached by Rev. Hollpeter. Interment was made in Glenwood.

Conrad SPANGENBERGER the Fountain Avenue saloonist, died yesterday afternoon at his residence, 176 South Center Street. He had been ill for about ten months, but not confined to his bed all the time. The immediate cause of death was brain fever. Deceased was about 48 years old and leaves a wife and five children. He belonged to St. Bernard's and St. Joseph's society and the German Benevolent society. Funeral Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock at St. Bernard's church.
