Page 26. Willard Emory Callison, 72, farmer living near Hustead, died at his home at 5:38 p.m. Thursday. He had been in failing health for the last few months. Callison was born near North Hampton, and had lived near Hustead for 42 years. His widow, Mrs. Jennie Callison; one son, Arges Callison, two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Mowen and Mrs. Ethel Beeler; one brother, Nevin Callison of North Hampton, and 10 grandchildren survive. Mr. And Mrs. Callison would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 17. The body was taken to the Littleton Brothers Funeral Home at Yellow Springs, where services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

E. Fred Spang, 28, of 737 E. Madison av., a salesman for the Kibler Clothing Store on S. Limestone st., died at the City Hospital at 8:35 p.m. Sunday following an illness of a week. E was admitted to the hospital Nov. 5. Spang had been a salesman for several Springfield clothing concerns in the past few years. Born in Springfield, he had lived in this city all his life. He was graduated from St. Raphael High School with the class of 1924, and was a member of the Holy Name Society, and of the St. Raphael Church. Two sisters, Mrs. Ray Gaier and Mrs. Lee Marsteller, both of Springfield, survive. The body was removed to the Degenhart funeral home.

Page 6. Ex-Blacksmith Dies In Dialton: Jacob N. LEHMAN, 82, is Victim of Influenza. St. Paris, Jan. 12 - Jacob N. LEHMAN, 82, retired blacksmith and for 57 years a resident of Dialton, died at 3:15 p.m. Saturday at his home following a brief illness from influenza. His wife, Emma, died four years ago. One brother, William, of Dialton, and two sisters, Mrs. Emma BOBO and Mrs. Lizzie GRISSO, both of North Hampton, survive. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge, of Springfield and the Dialton Reformed Church. The body was taken to the Frank and Barger Funeral Home here but will be returned to the residence Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted at the Dialton Reformed Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. E. E. Koepp. Burial will be made in Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield.

William A. RICE, 61, a bookkeeper in the office of The Springfield Gas Co., since 1902, died Saturday, at 2:40 p.m. at his residence, 2155 S. Limestone st. He was born in Springfield and was a member of the Fifth Lutheran Church; Springfield Lodge, No 536, Loyal Order of Moose; Champion City Council, No 23, United Commercial Travelers; and the Brotherhood of the Council. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Devella K. RICE; one daughter, Mrs. Emily COBERLY; one sister, Miss Mary E. RICE, both of Springfield; and an aunt, Mrs. M. E. MONAHAN of New Rochelle, N. Y. Mr. RICE was a nephew of the late W. R. BURNETT, former mayor of Springfield. The body was removed to the Jackson Funeral Home, and will be returned to the residence Sunday where friends may view the remains after 1:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the residence, in charge of the Rev. Webster C. Spayde, pastor of the Fifth Lutheran Church. Burial will be made in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Ms. Brigid BURNS, 77 died Saturday at 8 a.m. at her home, 224 E. Grand av. She leaves three daughters, Mary BURNS, at home; Mrs. E. E. CONNOR and Mrs. Edward LEWIS, both of Springfield; one granddaughter, Betty Jean BETTS, at home, and eight other grandchildren, and a half brother, John DOYLE, of Springfield. She was born in Springfield where she had lived all of her life. The body was taken to the O'Brien Funeral Home and will be returned to the residence Sunday afternoon. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at the St. Raphael Church, with burial in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Hayes SLAGLE, 56, of South Vienna, died early Friday in Radium Hospital, Columbus. He was a mail carrier at South Vienna. He was unmarried and is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Margaret MORGAN, of Columbus, and Mrs. Harly DAVEY, South Vienna The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the residence in South Vienna, conducted by the Rev. Clark A. Dennison of the South Vienna Congregational Christian Church. Burial will be made in the South Vienna cemetery.

Miss Martha L. CULLER, a niece of the Rev. Dr. J. H. CULLER, 1331 N. Limestone st., died of pneumonia at the old farm home, near Lucas, O., Saturday morning, Feb. 2. She was a graduate of Wittenberg College, class of 1899. She has been a teacher all her life in the public schools, beginning at New Carlisle. She was superintendent of the Townsend High School at Lucas for a number of years, and at the time she took ill was teaching in the schools of Mansfield. She has a number of friends in Springfield who will be saddened at this announcement. Dr. CULLER and daughter, Violet, will go his old home at Lucas for the funeral, which will be Monday afternoon.

A native of Virginia, Ervin CORBETT, died Saturday, at 3:15 p.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Agnes ARMSTRONG, 503 E. Euclid av. He was 77. Most of his life had been spent in Springfield. Besides the daughter at whose home he died, CORBETT has these other survivors: Mrs. Mamie MOON, of Springfield, a daughter; Charles CORBETT, of Amherst, O., and Benjamin CORBETT, of Hollywood, Calif. sons, and eight grandchildren. The body was removed to the O'Brien Funeral Home, where it will remain until time for funeral services, Tuesday, at 2 p.m. at the South Solon, O., church. Burial will be a South Solon.

Mrs. Laura W. OGAN, 83, died Saturday, at 9 p.m. at her home, 952 Avondale av. She is survived by a daughter, Helene OGAN, also of 952 Avondale av. She was born near Xenia, and had lived in Springfield for approximately 45 years. Her husband was the late Salathiel OGAN, who died about four years ago. Mrs. OGAN was a member of the High Street M. E. Church, and was active in W. C. T. U. work. The body has been removed to Herr and Cravers funeral parlors.

Porter GOFF, 47, a carpenter, died Saturday at 8:45 p.m. at his home, 621 W. Mulberry st., following an illness of one year. He was born in West Virginia and had lived in Springfield for the last eight years. His wife, Effie GOFF; two sons, Kyle and Darrel GOFF; and two daughters, Ruth and Phoebe GOFF, all of Springfield; two brothers, O. B. and J. N. Following an illness of three weeks, Mrs. Jennie Murphy MITMAN, 69, widow of William MITMAN, died at 7 a.m. Monday at her home in Enon. She suffered a stroke of paralysis three weeks ago while visiting at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Rachael GAYNOR of Akron. She was born in Columbus but had been a resident of Enon for nearly 30 years. Eleven children survive. They are: Mrs. GAYNOR: Mrs. Elizabeth ARK and Mrs. John TAYLOR of Springfield, Route 8; Mrs. Nina BROWN and Mrs. Mary SMITH of Springfield; Harold, of Hustead; Reuben of Springfield; Adolph of Enon; and Perry, John and Ernest at home. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, with burial in Enon Cemetery.

Mrs. Wilhelmine MAIER, 88, died Friday at 5:15 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William SCHEERSCHMIDT, of 803 W. Mulberry st. Born in Westphalen, Germany, on March 28, 1847, Mrs. MAIER had lived in the United States since her early childhood. She was the last surviving charter member of the Ladies Aid Society of St. John's Evangelical Church, of which she was a ember. Mrs. MAIER was the widow of John MAIER. Two daughters, Mrs. SCHEERSCHMIDT, at whose home she died, and Mrs. H. E. SCHONFELDT, of Dayton, O.; one son, Harry MAIER, of Springfield; four grandchildren and one great grandchild survive. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the residence of Mrs. SCHEERSCHMIDT, with the Rev. Paul Pfeiffer, pastor of St. John's Evangelical Church, officiating. Mrs. CAVE was born at Pottshill, near Bainbridge, the daughter of Henry and Mary POTTS, and had made her home in Clark County for the last 14 years. She was a member of the Congregational Christian Church of Springfield. Her husband, Joseph; three children, Anna, Blanche and Boysle CAVE, at home; a grandson, Billy CAVE; two brothers, Oliver POTTS of Cedarville, O., and Felix POTTS of St. Louis, Mp., and four sisters, Mrs. Ruth TILLBERRY, Mrs. Rilla ANDRESON and Mrs. Alice MAINE of Springfield, and Mrs. Fanny TURBEY of South Vienna, Route 1, survive. The body was removed to the Littleton funeral home, and was taken to the residence Saturday afternoon. Funeral services will be held at the Plattsburg Christian Church at 2 p.m. Monday, with burial in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Mrs. WITHERS was born in New York City and was the widow of Austin WITHERS, who died several years ago. Besides the sister at whose home she died, Mrs. WITHERS is survived by two sons, Roy F. and Douglas E. WITHERS, of Brooklyn, one sister, Mrs. Herbert C. COMSTOCK, of Mt. Kisco, N.Y., who at one time resided in this city; and one brother, John FULLERTON, of Darien, Conn. The body will be taken to Mt. Kisco. N. Y. where funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon.

Superintendent of Nurses Succumbs At Age of 47
Miss Ursula HEILEMAN, 47, superintendent of nurses of the City Hospital, and director of the City Hospital School of Nursing, died at the Ciity Hospital at 3:10 p. m. Tuesday following an illness of a number of months. She had been a patient at the hospital since last January. Miss HEILEMAN had been superintendent of the City Hospital nurses, and director of the nursing school since 1931, and for a number of years previous to that time had been an instructor of the school. Her years of service as a nurse included duty with the United States Army during the World War. Born in Columbus, O., May 22, 1888, the daughter of John and Sarah HEILEMAN, she came to Springfield with her parents when she was one year of age. She attended Rockway School, west of the city on the National pk., and then the old Wittenberg Academy, graduating with the academy's class of 1906. For five years following her graduation she taught school at the Ohio Masonic Home, and in 1911, entered nurse's training at the old City Hospital at East st. and Selma rd. She was graduated from the nursing school in 1914, and for several years after that was engaged in private nursing and welfare work. She enlisted in the United States Army Nursing Corps in September of 1918, and served at Camp Grant until January, 1919. Following the war she returned to Springfield and resumed her nursing work, later going to Cleveland, where she took preparatory work in nurse's training. Finishing her course in Cleveland, she returned to Springfield and became an instructor of the local hospital's training school, and for a time was the only instructor employed by the city. She was promoted to superintendent of the school in 1931, and until her illness, served in that capacity. Miss HEILEMAN was chairman of the 11th nursing district of the American Red Cross, which includes Springfield. She also was a member of the First Lutheran Church, George Cultice Post No. 6, American Legion; the Altrusa Club, the Ohio State Nursing Association, and of the National League of Nursing Education. A sister, Mrs. Fred W. BURMEISTER of 529 N. Race st.; two brothers, Walter HEILEMAN of Dayton and Franz HEILEMAN of Cleveland; an aunt, Mrs. Perry JOHNSON of Columbus, and a number of nieces and nephews survive. The body was removed to the Schaefer funeral home. While arrangements for the funeral services have not been completed, the rites are expected to be conducted Friday.

Born near Troy, she had lived in Xenia and Osborn before moving here. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Mellie BLAKLEY, Mrs. Edna STIRES, both of New Carlisle, and Mrs. Helen WALLS of Springfield; two sons, George PROCTOR and Marvin PROCTOR, both of Springfield; four step-children, Mrs. Opal DAVEYof South Vienna, Dan DULANEY of Jordanville, Leon DULANEY and Frase DULANEY, both of Springfield. Five sisters and one brother also survive. They are Mrs. Eva TERRELL of Columbus, Mrs. Emma HANAGHAN of Dayton, Mrs. Mary RATCHFORD of Piqua, Mrs. Ella BOOTH of Tulsa, Okla., Mrs. Addie ESSER of Troy, and Andrew WARNER of Hamilton. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Enon Congrefational-Christian Church, with burial in Enon.

Norma Jean HEFFLEY, 56, of 1315 East High St., died at 12:55 p.m. Friday, July 8, 1988 in Community Hospital. She was born on June 21, 1932 in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Clarence and Margaret (PALMER) HEFFLEY. She was a member of the Salvation Army Church and had been employed at the Sheltered Workshop. Survivors include one sister, Mary McKEE of Springfield, two brothers, Clarence HEFFLEY of Lima and Robert Leroy HEFFLEY of Springfield, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins. She was proceeded in death by her parents. Her body was taken to the Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the chapel one half-hour prior to the services.

Funeral services for the Rev. Fr. M.J. LONEY, 77, retired pastor of the St Joseph Church who died at his home, 104 Dover Rd, at 12:30 pm Monday, following a period of failing health, will be held at 10:30 am Thursday at teh St Joseph Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Church from 3 pm Wednesday until time for the services. The Holy Name Society of the St Joseph Church will meet at the school hall at 8:30 pm Tuesday to arrange for a guard of honor. Fr. Loney, retired from active duties Sept 1, 1932 after having served the St Joseph parish for 33 years, and was succeeded by the Rev. Fr. William C. CASEY, formerly pastor of the St Mary Church in Urbana. His advanced age and ill health caused his retirement. Through his long years of association with the St Joseph Church, Fr. LONEY made hundreds of friends in Springfield, not in his parish alone but throughout the city and among other congregations as well. He was instrumental in the building of a new school in the St Joseph parish. He had redecorated the church walls and put in new windows, besides bringing about many other changes in the parish buildings. He had instituted a number of progressive ideas in the church and St Joseph Schools. He was born in Clark County 26 years before the founding of the St Joseph parish. He received his first education in the country schools and his higher education at Wittenberg College; St Xavier College at Cincinnati, and Mt. St. Mary Seminary, Baltimore, MD. He was ordained on June 20, 1889 at the age of 33. Before taking charge of the parish in this city, he had served as pastor of the Catholic Church at Reading,O. and during that pastorate it was through his friendship with the Rev. Fr. CONWAY, then pastor of the St Joseph parish, that he obtained from the Sisters of Notre Dame a beautiful hand carved altar which he donated to this parish. Having been reared in Springfield, the Rev. Fr. LONEY assumed the duties of the St Joseph parish not as a stranger, but as one who had followed the founding, the growth and the general history of the church. Knowing it as he did, his thoughts turned many times to the time when the church would celebrate its silver jubilee. The year 1909 was a goal to be reached and the intervening years were to be spent in the completion and the beautifying of the church. By 1902, he had the oaken pews and two years later through the generosity of friends and members of the parish he had the stained glass windows. One window, that of the Holy Family, placed high in the choir was the gift of the Rev. Fr. LONEY. On Sept 26, 1909, Fr. Loney and his congregation celebrated the establishment of St Joseph as an independent parish. On that day, the Most Rev. Henry MOELLER came from Cincinnati and with him were many visiting priests to congratulate the Rev. Fr. LONEY. Four years before the celebration of the silver jubilee, the number of families in the parish had increased to such an extent that the work became too strenuous for one priest and the Most Reverend Archbishop sent the Rev. James FOGARTY to assist him. By the summer of 1913, Fr. Loney had the parish well organized and the church completely furnished. During the summer of 1917, Fr. LONEY because of failing health was unable to say mass and he was compelled to be a patient at the Good Samaritan Hospital in the autumn and winter of 1918-1919. Although slightly improved in health following the World War, but not by any means well, he completed the new St Joseph High School, Kenton and East Sts. With ill health weighing heavily upon him, Fr. LONEY continued his ministrations to the ill of the parish, but was compelled to lay down the burden of active interest in the church in 1932. Fr. Loney leaves a sister, Miss Margaret LONEY, of this city. The body was taken to the O'Brien Funeral Home.

Mrs Orpha STAYER, 57, died at 3 am Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs Richard SHYRIGH, 2105 Clifton Ave, following a one weeks illness. She was born in Greene County, and had been a resident of this city for years. She was the widow of Benjamin STAYER. She leaves two daughters, Mrs SHYRIGH, at whose home she died; and Mrs Floyd WARE, also of Springfield; one sister, Mrs Willard PHLEGER of New Moorefield; four brothers, Delmer CREAMER of Villa; Manford of Springfield; Orville of Detroit; and Pearl of Cincinnati, besides six grandchildren. The body was taken to the Coffman Funeral Home, and will be returned to the residence Tuesday evening. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2 pm Thursday, with burial in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.

W. M. DOYLE, 50, Taken By Death Grocery Store Owner Succumbs At His Home William M. DOYLE, 50, groceryman, died at his home, 801 E. Pleasant st., at 5:30 p.m. Monday, following an illness of four months. Mr. DOYLE had operated a grocery store at the E. Pleasant st. address for about 20 years and was president of the Handy Service Stores. He was born in Springfield, and had lived in this vicinity all his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the St. Joseph Church, and the Holy Name society of that church. His widow, Anna; one sister, Mrs. Carl WOEBER of Springfield; three brothers, P. F. DOYLE, of Dayton, Edward J. DOYLE of Springfield, and Frank DOYLE of Miamisburg, O.; four nieces and five nephews survive. The body was removed to the O'Brien funeral home and will be returned to the residence Tuesday afternoon.

Ephraim W. ALLEN, 78, Resident of City 23 Years Ephraim W. ALLEN, 78, of 470 Selma rd., died at 9:30 p. m. Sunday at his residence. He was a retired gardener and had been a resident of Springfield for more than 23 years. Born in Jackson County, O., Mr. ALLEN had devoted himself to gardening until 1928 when he retired. He was a member of the Second Lutheran Church. Mr. ALLEN is survived by his widow, Mrs. Laura B. ALLEN; five children, B. A. ALLEN of Findlay, O.; W. W. ALLEN, of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Jesse B. HAIGH, of Plymouth, Mass.; Mrs. Louise STEWART, and Guy D. ALLEN, both of Springfield; three brothers, William ALLEN, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Bert and John ALLEN of Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. The body was removed to the Jackson funeral home and will be returned to the residence Monday afternoon where funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. Wednesday, in charge of the Rev. Dr. C. A. Sundberg, pastor of the Second Lutheran Church. Burial will be made in Ferncliff cemetery.

He had been a resident of Columbus for about 15 years and was manager of the seed department of the Livingston Feed Co. of that city. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the G. L. Myers funeral chapel in Columbus, with burial in Union Cemetery, Columbus. His widow Luella; a son Ralph; one daughter, Mrs. Doris ELWOOD, of Columbus; and two sisters, the Misses Annetta and Flossie LEHMAN of Enon, survive.

LANUM and ha lived in Springfield for more than 25 years. Mrs. LANUM was born in Sinking Spring, Highland County, O, Nov. 30, 1857. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Goldie RIDER, five sons, Fred, Richard, Robert, LeRoy, and Millard LANUM; two brothers, Stephen ZUCK and Jess ZUCK; four sisters, Mrs. Nancy POTTER, Mrs. Lula CORBETT, Mrs. Margaret ROWE, all of Springfield; and Mrs. Alice BAILEY, of Jeffersonville, O; one half brother William BROBEY; 23 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren, all of Springfield. Page 12. Mrs. Elizabeth Elnora BEYNON, 77, died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday at the home of her niece, Mrs. Elsie SCHROUFE, of 711 W. Mulberry st. She had been ill for three weeks never fully recovering from the death of her sister, Miss Pearl HERIN, who died three weeks ago. She was the widow of Thomas BEYNON and was a native of Bellefontaine having lived in Springfield for more than six years. Besides the niece at those home she died, Mrs. BEYNON is survived by four other nieces, Mrs. Chester BRODEN, Mrs. Mable CULP, Mrs. Luther STOUGH and Miss Jennie HERIN, all of Bellefontaine. The body was removed to the Jackson funeral home and was returned to the residence Sunday evening. The body will remain at the residence until Tuesday morning when it will be taken to the Kennedy funeral home in Bellefontaine where it will lie in state from noon until 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.

He was born in Greenville, O., and had lived in Springfield for a number of years. he was employed by the James Leffel Co., as a construction engineer and died of complications resulting from an injury received in a fall about nine months ago. Mr. FUNK is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mamie FUNK; one son, Walter J. FUNK; one brother, Pearl FUNK, and a granddaughter, all of Springfield. The body was removed to the Jackson funeral home and will be taken to the son's residence at 23 W. State st., but will be returned to the Jackson funeral home for funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be made in Ferncliff Cemetery.

The body was taken to the Jackson Funeral home, and will be returned to the residence Tuesday night where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in charge of the Rev. F. L. Blevins, pastor of the Church of God on Hillside av., with burial in Ferncliff Cemetery. Although she had been ill for the last five years, her death was unexpected. She was found dead in bed.

Page 12. John G. HYATT, 63 died Sunday at 3:45 a.m. at his home, 202 S. Light st., following an illness of two months. Mr. HYATT was vice president and a director of the E. W. Fulmer Co. Born at Tiffin, O., Oct. 9, 1872, Mr. HYATT had been a resident of this city for the last 54 years, coming to Springfield with his parents when he was nine years of age. He had been connected with the E. W. Fulmer Co for the last 21 years. Prior to that, Mr. HYATT had been engaged in the stove and furniture business here. My HYATT had been a member of the First Lutheran Church since coming to Springfield. He also was a member of Champion Council, Junior Order of United American Mechanics. His widow, Mrs. Mary A. HYATT, and one sister, Mrs. Kate E. HAHN of Toledo survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the residence, with the Rev. E. Clyde Xander, D. D. presiding. Burial will be made in the Ferncliff cemetery.
