Mrs. CARTWRIGHT died Thursday at 8:55 a.m. in St. Anne Hospital. Death followed an illness of four years. Survivors are the husband, Jerry, of Belle Center; a daughter, Mrs. Effie WELCH of Springfield; three sons Charles LAMBERT of East Hartford, Conn., and James C. and Walter LAMBERT, both of Springfield; a sister. Mrs. Sadie WHALEY of Columbus; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Mr. BAKER was admitted to the institution Feb. 4, 1929 from Findlay Lodge No. 85, Knights of Pythias of Findlay. He was a retired stationary engineer. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Lizzie SULTZBAUGH and a brother, Charles F., both of Clark County. The body was removed to the Richards funeral home.

Riley Hinton HASSLER, 57, of 301 N. Florence St., died at 10:10 p.m. Thursday at the City Hospital, following a several years' illness. He had been critically ill for one month. Mr. HASSLER, who was a retired cement contractor, having retired in 1927 because of ill health, was born in Crab Orchard, Tenn., March 5, 1884. He had lived in Springfield about 40 years. He was a member of the Story-Hypes Methodist Church. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Martha HASSLER; one son, Walter Howard HASSLER of Los Angeles, California; three daughters, Mrs. Mabel LEMLEY of Springfield, Mrs. Edith J. KING of Route 5, and Mrs. Marie M. KIDD of Xenia; five grandchildren; one brother, Homer HASSLER of Sharonville; one sister, Mrs. Maude MOORE of Route 1, and five grandchildren. The body was taken to the Woods Funeral Home for funeral services there at 2 p.m. Monday, with burial in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Adam SNELL, 72, died Thursday at 9 pm in his home at 1043 Farlow St. Death followed an illness of 10 days. A native of New Carlisle, Mr. SNELL had been a local resident 60 years. Survivors are the widow, Emma, four daughters, Miss Alice SNELL, Mrs. Ruth SOHN and Mrs. Edna PETERS, all of Dayton, and Mrs. Dorothy HANNAH of Toledo, five sons, Harry of Dayton, Charles of Osborn, and Clarence, Paul and Arthur, all of Springfield, and nine grandchildren. Roy C. HENDERSON, 58, of 427 Tibbetts ave. died Thursday at 2;30 pm in the City Hospital. Death followed several months of failing health and a critical illness of eight weeks. Born in Kansas, May 30,1882, Mr. HENDERSON had lived in Springfield for 27 years. He was a bricklayer and a member of the Bricklayers Union. Survivors include three sons Mautz, Karl and Curtis all of Springfield; two daughters, Mrs. Nadine DOLSON of Fort Wayne, Ind. Mrs. Vanita PENNINGTON of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two brothers, Rex and Roxie, both of Coffeyville, Kansas; three sisters Mrs. Jennie CANCY of St.Louis, Mo. However, Mrs. HACKETT had not been active in the business for 12 years. Mrs. HACKETT was the widow of Joseph J. HACKETT, at one time superintendent of local streets. Mrs. HACKETT was a member of St. Raphael Church and of the church's Altar Society. She also was affiliated with the Daughters of Isabella. Born in Clark County, the daughter of Silas G. and Margaret KISSELL, Miss KISSELL had lived in this vicinity her entire life. A former school teacher, Miss KISSELL retired because of ill health from the local school system in June 1933. At that time she was an instructor in Roosevelt School. Miss KISSELL was a member of the First Lutheran Church and active in the women's organizations of the church. Survivors are a sister, Miss Villa KISSELL, three brothers, Charles M., of South Charleston, Samuel of the Selma Pk., and Ralph of the Rebert Pk., and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was removed to the Jackson Funeral Home for services Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rites will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. E. Clyde Xander, pastor of the First Lutheran Church. Born in Michigama, Mich., Feb. 22, 1858, Mrs. ILIFF had lived in Springfield 63 years. Mrs. ILIFF was a member of Central Methodist Church and was for many years active in the women's organizations of the church. She was the widow of Allen W. ILIFF who died in Springfield Jan. 31. Survivors are a daughter Mrs. Grace GILLILAND of Douglas, Ariz., five grandchildren, Mrs. W. H. RICH of Glendale, Calif., Mrs. Ernest A. BROOKS of Barberton, Mrs. William A. MITCHELL, also of Barberton, W. A. GILLILAND of Ontario, Calif., and R. B GILLILAND of Pasadena, Calif., and four great-grandchildren. The body was removed to the Little funeral home for services Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rites will be conducted by the Rev. W. H. Fowler, D.D., pastor of Central Methodist Church. Mrs. Ella J. WALLIS, 85 died Sunday at 3:30 a.m. in the Ohio Masonic Home. Born August 15, 1855, in Rockford, Ill. Mrs. WALLIS was the widow of Adelbert J. WALLIS. She was admitted to the Masonic Home August 26, 1936, from Magnolia Lodge No. 20 Free and Accepted Masons, of Columbus. The body was removed to the Schoedinger funeral home, Columbus. Funeral arrangements are in charge of John J. Shafer.

William S. SMITH, 53-year-old former resident of Springfield, died in a Dayton hospital at 3:30 p.m. Saturday after an 18 month illness. Mr. SMITH was born in Springfield on August 19, 1887, the son of James and Sarah SMITH. He had resided here most of his life. Surviving are two brothers, Walter and Charles of Springfield; three sisters, Mrs. Olive GREGG of London, Mrs. Stella CROWN of Westerville and Mrs. Mary WORTHINGTON of Springfield. The body was brought to Springfield and taken to the Richards funeral home for services at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be made in Newcomers Cemetery.

Mrs. SHOPSHIRE had been a resident of Springfield for five years and was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She leaves her husband, Jeff. The body was removed to the Patterson funeral home and will be taken to the residence Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services will be held in the Mt. Mr. MCCLURE, a son of James E. and Elizabeth MCCLURE, is survived by his mother, three sisters, the Misses Gertrude and Edna MCCLURE, and Mrs. Margaret ROBB, and a nephew, John Edwin ROBB, all of Springfield, Route 1. She was born in Springfield on February 1, 1899 the daughter of Patrick and Rose (BRICE) MCNALLY and resided here all of her life. She was formerly employed as a secretary for several companies in the Springfield area for a number of years. She is a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including Fr. Donald C. HUEBNER and Mrs. Rosemary KOEHLER both of Springfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raphael J. in 1983, three sisters, Mary MEACHEM, Helen AMSDEN, and Florence HUEBNER, and one brother John MCNALLY. Her body was taken to the Conroy Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in St. Teresa Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery.

The body was removed to the Sprague Funeral Home here and was returned Wednesday to the residence, where funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Friday. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. for William Henry HAWKE , who died in his home on Broadway rd. Monday at 5:45 a.m. following an illness of one week. He was 70. A grandson, Lee Edward GARBER, also survives. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the residence, with the Rev. W. H. Fields, pastor of the Story-Hypes Church, officiating. Burial will be made in Glen Haven Memorial Park. The body is at the Woods funeral home and will be returned to the residence Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Clara GOVE, 84, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oscar RYAN three and one-half miles north of Lawrenceville, Friday at 4:30 p.m. after being ill for the past three years. In addition to the daughter she leaves two sons, Clarmey E. and David A. GOVE, both of Lawrenceville. The body was brought to the Ira Frank Funeral home here and returned to the residence Saturday evening. Funeral services were held there at 2 p.m. Sunday with burial in Lawrenceville cemetery.

Because of ill health, he retired in 1936 as a carpenter for The Wren Store, which position he had held for 8 years. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Louise MCKEEVER; two daughters, Marie and Mildred; one grandson, Henry Louis JUNG, Jr., all of Springfield, and four brothers, John of Westville, and Warren, Monas and Lee of Springfield. MOUL, and the following children: Mrs. Dorothy MAY of Pocatello, Idaho; Mrs. Alice WINGET, Mrs. Thelma CAMPBELL and James E. MOUL, all of Springfield. Two other children, both sons, preceded their mother in death. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Mildred HILL, and a brother, Henry INGLE of Piqua, and 12 grandchildren. Mr MASSIE's death followed a brief illness and was attributed to heart disease. At one time he had served as president of the Lawrence County Association. He was born in Lawrence County and was educated in the Ironton schools. He had made his home in Springfield for a number of years and moved to Grove City about a year ago, where he was the operator of an automobile agency. He was affiliated with the Masonic Lodge, the Lions' Club, the Grove City Business Men's Association and the American Legion. He leaves his widow, Mrs Virginia MASSIE ; four sisters, the Misses Georgia and Irene MASSIE, Mrs. J L WOODRUFF and Mrs C W PORTER, all of Springfield, and a brother, Harley M. MASSIE of Valier, Mont.

She was found in a serious condition by the resident of an adjoining apartment and died of heart disease shortly after the arrival of a physician. She was a native of Versailles and her only survivors are one brother, William HOOVER of New London, O, and one sister, Mrs L. D. LUTZ of Galion, O. Dr Donald Timmerman, pastor of the Methodist Church here was in charge and burial was in the cemetery at Versailles.

He was the son of James and Florence ANDERSON. Survivors include his wife, Bertha; three sisters, Mrs. Mura BOWMAN of Dayton, Mrs. Ruth CARTER of Cincinnati, and Mrs. May SHAFFER of Riverdale, Mich., and one brother, Alva, of Dayton. The body was taken to the Doom Brothers funeral home in New Carlisle where it will remain until 12:30 p.m. Monday when it will be removed to the new Carlisle Methodist Church for services there at 2 p.m. Burial will be made in the new Carlisle Cemetery.
