Mrs. Minnie SCARRY, 70, died at 4:30 am Friday at her home 122 W. Southern Av, after a short illness with influenza and pneumonia. Her brother, Dennis LONEY, who made his home with her, and who became ill about the same time, died last Sunday. Mrs. SCARRY had lived in Springfield for 10 years, coming here from London, O. Her husband died a year ago. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mary McGUIRE of London, Miss Katherine SCARRY, Miss Nell SCARRY, and Mrs. D.P. DEWINE of Springfield; three sons, D.L. of Cleveland, F.P. of Columbus, Raymond of Springfield; and three sisters, Mrs. Edward GORDON of Columbus, Mrs. John HENNESSEY of Piqua, and Mrs. Katherine BRYAN of London. There are also seven grandchildren.

Jeremiah GRFFITH, 87, Civil War Veteran, died at 6:15 a.m. Thursday at his home. He had been in failing health for the last several years. Mr. GRIFFITH was born in Indiana, but spent practically all his life in Springfield. For many years he conducted a furniture store on W. Main st., and for the last several years he had been retired form business. In 1862 he married Lurena KELLY, who died three years ago. During the Civil War Mr. GRIFFITH served in the 16th Ohio Light Infantry, and following the war became a member of Mitchell Post G. A. R. in which he had always taken a great interest. Mr. GRIFFITH centered most of his time and interest in church work, and was the organizer of the Sunday School at the Clifton Avenue M.E. Church more thank 30 years ago. He served as its first superintendent. At the time of his death he was a member of the Central M. E. Church. Three children survive him. They are: William E. GRIFFITH, Mrs. John BOWMAN and Mrs. H. E. Myers, all of this city. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Emma WELCH, of Marion, inc.; and a brother, F. M. GRIFFITH, at the National Military Home in Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at his late residence. Burial will be made in Ferncliff cemetery.

Mrs. Mary GEBAUER, 50, wife of Arthur GEBAUER, died at 3 a.m. Thursday at her home, 1411 S. Limestone st. after an illness of three weeks. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church, and burial will be made in Ferncliff cemetery. Mrs. GEBAUER was born in Springfield and spent her entire life here. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Ilma GEBAUER; her father, Phillip HLMANN; three brothers, William D. and Phillip G. UHLMANN of Springfield, and Harry J. UHLMANN of Akron; and two sisters, Alma R. UHLMANN and Mrs. Roe P. HENDERSON.

He was employed by The Safety Emery Wheel Co, until four years ago when he suffered an accident, since which time he had been unable to work. He had lived in Springfield for 18 years. Mr VERMILLION was born in Lawrence County, Ohio and formerly lived at Sherritts, where he was a member of the Palestine Baptist church. Surviving are three sons, L F and J H Kentucky, and John of Springfield; one daughter, Mrs Nellie HEIL of Springfield; and one sister, Mrs Lucy WILLIAMS of Gallipolis, O. "Sarah Jane King Dies at Her Home. Miss Sarah Jane King, 85, known to all her friends as "Miss Jennie" died at 2:00 A. M. Wednesday at her home, 2 Ferncliff Place after an illness of one week with pneumonia. Until she contracted a cold 10 days ago she was in her usual health. Miss King was a woman of simple tastes, but was known throughout the city for her helpful services and liberal contributions in behalf of anything that made her betterment of the community. She was born in Springfield in 1841 and moved with her Mother to the home at the corner of N. Fountain and Ferncliff Place when she was but 10 years old and she had lived there ever since. She was the last of her generation, her brother, Col. David King, who also lived in the family home, having died last November. Among her first public activities, Miss King took up the work of the sanitary commission during the Civil War and did a great deal for the Springfield branch of that organization. She joined the First Presbyterian Church during her girlhood and had been an active member of that church and its successor, the Covenant Presbyterian, ever since. Her last visit to the church was a week ago last Friday to attend the annual meeting of the women's societies of the church. Miss King was one of a group of women who conducted an industrial sewing class every week at the city building. The class was made up of young girls from all parts of the city who wished to learn to sew. Surviving are several nephews and nieces: R. L. King, Mrs. George H. Brain and R. C. Gotwald of Springfield; Noble C. King of Chicago, Mrs. Hubert C. Pontuis of Canton and Mrs. G. M. Cummings of East Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 P. M. Friday at the residence by Dr. Charles Ryan Adams, pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Burial will be made in the family lot in Ferncliff Cemetery."

Mrs. DAVIS was a member of the Reformed church of North Hampton and took an active interest in the Ladies' Aid Society of that church. Mrs. Catherine M. BRENNEN, 63, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles A. WELCH of 439 East Street. Early in the evening Mrs. BRENNEN attended services at St. Joseph Church, of which she was a member, apparently in good health. Apoplexy was the cause of her death, which was totally unexpected. Besides Mrs. WELCH, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary KILEY of Columbus.

Mrs Lillie May EVILSIZOR, 61, wife of C W EVILSIZOR, died Sunday afternoon at the home of her sister, Mrs. J E Faulkner, northwest of Terre Haute. Mrs Evilsizor, whose home was on Route 55, northeast of Urbana was in her usual health when she rose Sunday morning. During the morning she decided to visit her sister for the day, and with her husband, drove to Terre Haute. Her son, Clair W EVILSIZOR, of Tremont City also visited at the Faulkner home in the afternoon and took his mother to the nearby cemetery where her parents and other relatives are buried. Returning to Mrs Faulkner's home, Mrs Evilsizor complained of illness and a physician was called from Urbana, but she died within a short time after he arrived. Mr and Mrs Evilsizor lived in Springfield for a short time several years ago, moving to Tremont City and then to the home near Union Church. The sister and son mentioned are the only surviving relatives besides her husband..Mrs EVILSIZOR, was formerly a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Grafton, OH. For several years she had been active in the Ladies Aids of both Union and Mutual Churches. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Union Church near Cable. He was highly respected by all who knew him and took an interest in all educational matters. He was born and reared in Clark County. He was a member of the Methodist-Episcopal church of Tremont, and of the Knights of Pythias lodge of that place. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Eva PENETON, and the following sons: Howard of McComb, O., Orville and Raymond, both of this city, and Virgil, at home; besides ten grand-children; a sister, Mrs. Martha J. Lucinda MIRANDA, 75, wife of John Thomas MIRANDA and one of the beloved and highly respected women of Clark County, died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 1927, at her home in New Carlisle. Death was due to paralysis from which she suffered about a year. On March 17, Mrs. MIRANDA sustained a fall which resulted in a fracture of the left thigh. She never recovered from the fall and grew steadily worse until her death. She was born in Pike township and was the daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. Samuel MOCK. Mr. And Mrs. MIRANDA had been married for 57 years. She was a member of the New Carlisle Presbyterian church of which she was a great worker. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Lodge and a past officer of the Rebeccas. Besides her husband she is survived by one son, M. D. MIRANDA, of Columbus; one daughter, Mrs. Mabel E. CLIPPINGER of Dayton; two grandchildren, Roy STALEY of Springfield, and son Thomas MIRANDA of Columbus; one grand-daughter, Dorothy MIRANDA of Columbus; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ella E. He was born in Pitchin and was a Civil War veteran, having taken part in Sherman's famous march to the sea. He owned a grocery store in Pitchin for many years, but at the age of 68 retired, and since that time has made his home with his sister. Mr. HATFIELD had been in ill health for the last two years. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm. Friday at the Concord Methodist Church in Pitchin. Burial will be made in the Garlough cemetery.

Paralysis Fatal to War Veteran JOSEPH C. SIMS, 87, Dies At Son's Home In Xenia Xenia, Oct. 17-- Joseph C. SIMS, 87 years of age, for years a well known resident of Spring Valley and Mt. Holly, died Saturday afternoon at the home of his son, M.A. SIMS, 210 S. King St., this city. He had suffered three strokes of paralysis within the last three weeks. Mr. SIMS was born in Mt. Holly, Dec. 8, 1839. He is survived by three sons: G. Val SIMS, former postmaster of Spring Valley; M.A. of Xenia, and William who lives near Xenia; and two stepchildren, Mrs. Ella ALLEN of Spring Valley and George BYRD of near Beavertown, Montgomery County, and by three brothers and a sister, Walter SIMS of Missouri; Isaiah SIMS of Alexandriaville; Warren SIMS of Dayton and Mrs. William HATFIELD of Xenia. He was a Civil War veteran, having served in Company C, 145th Regiment, O.V. I., and was a member of the Lewis Post, G.A.R. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 o'clock at the Friends' Church in Spring Valley Cemetery.
