William Francis LONEY, 62, former truck driver salesman for Standard Oil Co, died Thursday morning in a local nursing home following a lengthy illness. He resided at Springfield, Route 6, Villa Rd. Mr. LONEY was an employee of the Standard Oil Co. for 24 years prior to retirement in 1943 due to ill health. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. A native of Madison County, he was born May 2, 1894, a son of John and Elizabeth BURKE LONEY. Surviving are four sons, Frank, Leo, and Eugene, all of Springfield, and Richard of Hamilton; three sisters, Mrs. Marie HUGHEY and Mrs. Nellie HERZOG, both of Springfield, and Mrs. Elizabth GUIE of Dayton, and nine grandchildren. The body was taken to the Conroy Funeral Home.

Pg. 64. John W. CLARK, 84, an Ohio Masonic Home resident, died at 3:10 a.m. Saturday in Rickly Memorial Hospital of the home. His entrance to the Home June 29, 1955, was sponsored by Toledo Lodge No. 144, F. and A. M., of Toledo. A former Springfielder, Mr. CLARK was a foreman in the vault department of the Springfield Metallic Casket Co. about 15 years. After living in this city about 20 years, he transferred in 1914 to the Galion Metallic Vault Co. He had been a metal worker by occupation and was a member of the Baptist Church. His wife Amelia Lizabeth, died May 27, 1955, and was buried in Springfield. Surviving are two sons, Edgar E. of Adrian, Mich., and Valford GARDNER CLARK of San Antonio, Tex., three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His body was taken to the Jackson-Lytle funeral home. Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Rickly auditorium of the Masonic Home by the Rev. Edgar F. Drumel, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Page 10. SOUTH CHARLESTON - Alfred C. HARVEY, 80, of South Charleston, a retired farmer and stock buyer, died Friday afternoon in City Hospital, Springfield, where he was admitted Thursday. His death followed an illness of a week. A native of Greenfield and a member of the Methodist Church, Mr. HARVEY was born January 31, 1877, a son of Frank and Sarah CLEMENS HARVEY. He was a bachelor. Surviving Mr. HARVEY are two brothers, Harold HARVEY of Springfield and Leon HARVEY of Greenfield, and a sister, Miss Louise HARVEY, with whom he resided. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Sprague funeral home here by the Rev. Walter Reitz and burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. The body will be removed to the residence from the funeral home Saturday evening and then will be returned to the funeral home Monday morning for the afternoon services.

Word was received Friday by Mrs. C. Albert MADER, Mill Street of the death of her mother, Mrs. Minnie ROSEBOOM which occurred at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. She was born Nov 9, 1873 in Madison County, a daughter of Henry and Susan PECK. On Feb 6 1889, she was married to William ROSEBOOM who preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons: Floyd and Estle ROSEBOOM of Columbus and Forest ROSEBOOM of Dayton, two daughters, Mrs. MADER and Mrs. J. B. Graduate of Miami University, he attended Yale University and late was co-manager of the Miami Military Institute in Germantown. The Institute was founded by Mr. Brown's father. Survivors are his widow, Edith of Dayton; his mother, Mrs. Lulu Reed Brown of Springfield; three sisters, Mrs. Ralph Saunders of Tipp City, Mrs. George H. Stapely of Springfield and Mrs. David W. Welday of Springfield; one brother, Col. Reed M. Brown of Hollywood, Calif. Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday in Germantown Cemetery, the Rev. John W. Limestone st. where he had been staying for the last several weeks. He was a retired farmer and landowner and was a member of one of the oldest families of the Terre Haute and Thackery communities. A native of Champaign County , Mr. Evilsizor was born in Terre Haute, Sept. 20, 1867, a son of the Rev. Isaac and Mrs. Amanda COOK EVILSIZOR. He had resided in Champaign County all his life. He was a member of the Urbana Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow, Ida E.; one son, Luther J. of Urbana, Route 1; two granddaughters, Mrs. Elizbeth (sic) BOYER of Tremont City and Miss Betty Louise EVILSIZOR, Urbana, Route 1; one grandson, Charles W. EVILSIZOR of Urbana; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ida BAUMGARDNER of Bellefontaine, Mrs. Elizabeth MATTESON of Richwood and Mrs. Winnie REDMAN of Urbana; and a number of nieces and nephews. Another son, Russell, was killed in a farm accident in 1915.

Mrs. WOOLUM had been a resident of Springfield for 20 years and was a member of St Paul Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Louise EBY, a son, John K ; her mother, Mrs. Minnie STEWART, all of Springfield ; a sister, Mrs. Stacey LLOYD of South Vienna ; two brothers, Denzel STEWART of Denver, Colo, and Maj Cecil STEWART, stationed with the Air force in Montgomery, Ala. [...] dead in her home at 6 pm Tuesday. Mrs. [Sallie HOGE] LOCKETT was discovered on the second floor of the Belmont av residence and taken to Mercy Hospital where she died at 9:30 am Wednesday. Miss [Annie] LOCKETT apparently had been dead about 24 hours, according to Coroner Austin Richards. Neighbors became suspicious when they noticed newspapers had accumulated on the porch. Mrs. LOCKETT, widow of Charles L LOCKETT, formerly associated with Bauer Bros Co, had resided in this community since 1913. She was a member of Lagonda Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and Christ Episcopal Church. A native of Winfield, WV, she was born Aug 24, 1868, a daughter of James William and Sarah WRIGHT HOGE. Mr. LOCKETT died in 1951. In her work for the American Red Cross, Miss LOCKETT was responsible for completing communications to and from civilians in enemy or enemy-occupied territory. She was honored by The Netherlands government with a Silver Medal of Gratitude in 1947 for her "devoted effort to the relief of the people of The Netherlands during and after the recent war." In 1947, Miss LOCKETT was appointed to a nine-member board to review the minimum wage scales in Ohio hotels and restaurants. Following her service on the wage review board, Miss LOCKETT was named treasurer of the Ohio Committee for Fair Employment Practices Legislation in 1950. For many years Miss LOCKETT was interested in research in connection with Ohio history. She had several articles accepted for publication by the Historical and Philosophical Society in Cincinnati and was a contributor to the Ohioana Library year books. A native Springfielder, Mr. GAIER had resided his lifetime here with the exception of five years in Dayton and tow years in Detroit, Mich. He was a graduate of St. Bernard School. Mr. GAIER was a member of St. Bernard Church, the Benevolent Society of the church, and Knights of Columbus Council No. 624. Born Jan. 23, 1900, he was a son of Florian J. and Clara NUSS GAIER, who survive and reside in Springfield. Mrs. McILHENNY was the widow of Jesse McILHENNY, an employee of the Springfield News and Sun. She moved to California about 30 years ago following the death of her husband. Surviving are two sons, J. Mr. VOLLMER was admitted to the hospital on October 8. He was born on April 25, 1911, in Springfield, and was a son of Conrad J. and Anne FOGARTY VOLLMER. He had resided in Springfield throughout his life. Mr. VOLLMER was a member on St. Mary's Church and the Holy Name Society of that parish. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3737, and he was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of Springfield. His brother, Robert J., who was formerly associated with him in business, died five years ago. Survivors are his widow, Mary K.; one son, John J., Jr., a member of the United States Navy, stationed in Philadelphia; one brother, Harry J. of Springfield; three sisters, Mrs. Martha WIEDEKE, Mrs. Irene MARTIN, and Mrs. Angela LAUDERMILK, all of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. His body was taken to the O'Brien-Kenney funeral home where friends may call from 3 p.m. Tuesday until 9 a.m. Thursday when requiem mass will be held in St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. The Holy Name Society of St. Mary's Church will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home to recite the rosary.
