He is survived by his wife, Goldie BITZER; one son Frank Jr. of Kennesaw, Ga.; a daughter, Mary NEWMISTER of Lake Charles, La., two sisters, Mrs. Winifred SCOTT and Mrs. Florence KOONS, both of Springfield and one brother, George of Pomona, Calif. Funeral services for Timothy Lee MCKEEVER, 5, of 427 Willard Avenue, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry MCKEEVER, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Woods-Allgier Funeral Home, with the Rev. Samuel Stearman, pastor of the High Street Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Young MCKEEVER died in Community Hospital's intensive care unit at 12:45 a.m. Monday of injuries received when his bicycle and a car collided at Irwin and Ludlow Avenues. In addition to his parents, Jerry L. and Sondra L. BROWN MCKEEVER, he is survived by one sister, Sherry L.; two brothers, Jerry L., Jr., and Todd L.; his maternal grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Virgil BACHOR, and is paternal grandmother, Mrs. Garnett MCKEEVER. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Warren C. TAYLOR, 87, husband of a native Springfielder and retired chairman of the engineering department of Union College, Schenectady, N.Y., died Monday in a Schenectady hospital. Mr. TAYLOR was a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology and worked here for the New York Central system a number of years ago. He married the former Amy BRAIN of Springfield, who survives. They left the city in 1910 for Schenectady. Mr. TAYLOR had a part in designing the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Mr. TAYLOR was born in New England June 17, 1880. Mrs. TAYLOR is an aunt of Mrs. Justice K. IHRIG of Springfield and has several cousins here. A daughter, Miss Elizabeth L. TAYLOR, also survives. Funeral services and burial will be in Schenectady.

(162 years ago this took place) The first recorded traffic death in Ohio took place 131 years ago when a young stagecoash driver was thrown from his high seat as the speeding vehicle wended its way between Yellow Springs and Clifton. The story is graphically told on the tombstone in Clifton Cemetery. Lodrick AUSTIN, 26, struck his head as he hit the ground and was instantly killed in the accident, which occurred on the old road that ran between the two towns and on to Springfield. At the head of the tombstone is carved a picture of the speeding stage and wording which tells the sad story.

William Edward WHIPP, 91, of 1520 W. Rose St., died at 8 a.m. Tuesday in Mercy Hospital. He was born Oct. 7, 1876, in Donnelsville, the son of Carlton and Sarah Jane RYNULL WHIPP and had resided in Springfield most of his life. Mr. Whipp was a member of the First Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Eva. L MINTON WHIPP; one daughter, Miss Mabel Marie WHIPP of Sacramento, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Florence RINEHART of Medway; two step sons, Charles Raymond JONES and Paul Herbert JONES, both of Springfield; and one step daughter, Carrie Elizabeth JONES of Springfield. His body was taken to the Richards Memorial Home.

London, O. - Herbert Hornbeck, 77, of Roberts mill rd., London, Route 2, died Tuesday at 7:30: p.m. in Community Hospital, Springfield. He had been in failing health for several months. Born in Madison County Feb. 8, 1890, he was the son of Samuel and Alice Porter Hornbeck. He had farmed for a number of years in the London area, later was employed for several years with Ohio National Bank in Columbus, retiring in 1960. Survivors are a son, John H. Hornbeck, Springfield, a daughter, Mrs. Anna Lee Langlais, Dunedin, Fla., and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Chester R. Geer Funeral Home, with the Rev. George Brown officiating. Burial will be in Paint Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Charles E. Kurtz, 60, of 3040 Jewelstone dr., Dayton, a former Springfield resident, died Sunday at the union Printer's Home, Colorado Springs, Colo., where he had been a patient since June 19. He had been a compositor at the Crowell-Collier Publishing Co., in Springfield for 33 years and had held the same position at the McCall Corp. plant in Dayton for 10 years. He was a member of the International Typographical Union Local 57 and the First Lutheran Church of Dayton. He is survived by his wife, Dessa; one daughter, Mrs. Donald Mouat of Dayton; two sons, Richard of Covington and James E. stationed with the U.S. Navy; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Eisenmenger of Springfield, Mrs. Nellie peters of phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Kathryn Mott of Mishawaka, Ind.; two brothers, Harry G. of Columbus and Robert of Springfield, and two grandsons. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Marker-Heller Funeral Home, 1706 N. Main st., Dayton. The Rev. William C. Zimmermann will officiate. Xenia - Services for Forrest (Gene) Gordon, 34, of 43 Prugh av., who was dead on arrival at University Hospital in Columbus Monday night, will be held Friday at 3 P.m. at McColaugh Funeral Home with burial in Woodland Cemetery. Franklin County coroner's office said Mr. Gordon died of a heart attack. He was employed on the Ohio State Fairgrounds and fell from a car near the fairgrounds. Among the survivors is his wife, Eleanor Camp Gordon, of Xenia.

He was born April 25, 1897 in Pike County, the son of William and Victoria APPLETON DILLARD. He is survived by his wife, Virginia H. DILLARD; on stepson, Jonathan H. HOLLAND, Sr., of Springfield; a step-grandson, Airman second class Jonathan H. HOLLAND, Jr., who is stationed in Thailand with the USAF; two sisters, Miss Russie M. DILLARD of South Charleston and Mrs. Fred KNOFF, of West Liberty; five brothers, Thomas W. of South Charleston, Herbert E. of Cape Coral, Fla; Luther M. of London, Henton of Springfield and DesLoyse of South Vienna; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Evelsizor was a member of Central Methodist Church, the Semper Fidelis Sunday School Class and the Women's Society of Christian Service at the church. Born March 6, 1898, in Clark County, she was the daughter of Peter GRANT and Ina Knedler THOMAS. Survivors include her husband, Christopher H., one daughter, Mrs. Janet E. THWAITES of Springfield; two sons, Richard A. of Springfield and Robert L. of Worthington; 11 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Nona BLACK of Columbus. Her body was taken to the Littleton Funeral Home.

After his retirement from Borden's he was employed for 15 years at the Airetool Manufacturing Co., retiring from there in 1960. Mr. SHEPHARD was a member of St. Andrews Lodge No. 619 E and A.M. He had been a member of the lodge since Nov. 24, 1924. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Isabel BAILEY of Springfield and Mrs. Margaret BERGMAN of Lompoe, Calif.; two sons, David A. of Springfield and Dr. Edwin R. or Indianapolis, In.; one brother, Dr. Ray G. of Springfield, 11 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was born Oct. 30, 1926 in Springfield, the son of Harry and Lucille PYLE ALLEN, both of whom survive. He was a graduate of Springfield South High School, Class of 1944, and attended Ohio State University. He served in the United States Navy. In 1949 he was technical director for the Springfield Civic Theater and was active in theater work in Columbus and Washington, D.C. At the time of his death he was an employee of The Scan Wholesale Co. in Washington, and prior to that had been employed by the Lazarus Department Store in Columbus for 13 years. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. C. S. MARSHALL of Springfield, and one brother, the Rev. Donald ALLEN, chaplain of University Hospital, Ann Arbor, Mich. His body will be brought to the Ingling Funeral Home in South Charleston and then to the Woods-Allgier Funeral Home, Springfield, where friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday. She had been taken to the hospital by the Fire Division emergency squad at 7:22 a.m. from 216 E. Liberty st., where she was found lying unconscious in bed by Lt. James Frey and Don Ferrell. External heart massage and a resuscitation machine were used efforts to revive her en route to the hospital. Mrs. SLAUGHTER was born to Springfield, October 5, 1931, the daughter of Calvin and Julia CLARK. In addition to her father, Calvin CLARK, she is survived by one daughter, Judy GILBERT of Springfield; two sons, Gary and Larry GILBERT, both of Springfield, four sisters, Mrs. Linda EVANS, Mrs. Grace BENSON, Mrs. Mary WARD and Mrs. Florence QUARELS, all of Springfield; six brothers, James CLARK of Dayton, William, Joseph and Robert CLARK, all of Springfield, and John CLARK of Urbana, four grandchildren. He was born in South Charleston, the son of Frank and Sarah CLEMANS HARVEY. He attended the Maplewood Community Church and was a member of Bookbinders Union Local No. 7. He is survived by his wife, Garnet M.; three daughters, Ruth Ellen, Nancy Jane, and Bonnie Susan, all at home; one sister, Miss Louise HARVEY of South Charleston, and several nieces and nephews. His body was taken to the Woods-Allgier Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday until time of services to be announced.

Page 8A. Andrew J. POWELL, 67, of 1420 Augusta av., was dead on arrival of the Springfield Fire Division emergency squad in his residence shortly after noon Saturday. He was born in Gillsville, Ga., on October 15, 1900, the son of Andrew and Nealie HAYDEN POWELL, and was retired from the Ohio Steel Foundry after 48 years of service. Mr. POWELL was a member of the St. John's Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the male chorus and the senior choir of the church. Surviving are his wife, Ruth E. POWELL; five daughters, Mrs. Joan YOUNG, Mrs. Laura BURNS, Mrs. Henrietta HAIRSTON and Mrs. Elizabeth GILBREATH, all of Springfield, and Mrs. Martha RUSSELL, of Compton, Calif.; two sons Richard POWELL of San Francisco, Calif.; and Eugene POWELL, of Springfield; one brother, Pete POWELL, of Springfield; 13 grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. His body was taken to the Dennis L. Porter Funeral Home.

Page 8A. Roger E. ALLEN, 41, a native of Springfield, died at the Washington Center Hospital, Washington, D. C., at 5:45 p.m. Friday. He was born October 30, 1926 in Springfield, the son of Harry and Lucille PYLE ALLEN, both of whom survive. He was a graduate of Springfield South High School, Class of 1944, and attended Ohio University. He served in the United States Navy. In 1949 he was technical director for the Springfield Civic Theater and was active in theater work in Columbus and Washington, D.C. At the time of his death he was an employe of The Scan Danish Furniture Co., in Washington, and prior to that had been employed by the Lazarus Department Store in Columbus for 13 years. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. C. S. MARSHALL of Springfield, and one brother, the Rev. Donald Allen, chaplain of University Hospital, Ann Arbor, Mich. His body will be brought to the Ingling Funeral Home in South Charleston and then to the Woods-Allgier Funeral Home, Springfield, where friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The Rev. Virgil Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
