She was a member of the Story-Hypes M. E. Church. The body was removed to the Schaefer Funeral Home. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Vernon MAGAW and Mrs. Anna BOLEN, both of Springfield, and Mrs. Blanche OVERLY, of Jackson, O.; two sons, Hiram and Willard KIRKPATRICK, both of Springfield; and 18 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, at 2 p.m., in the Story-Hypes M. E. Church, in charge of the Rev. D. Earl Rhoads. Burial will be made in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Page 9 Funeral services for Fred VERMILLION, 54, formerly of Springfield, and more recently of Coal Creek, Tenn who died Friday in Fort Sanders Hospital, of Knoxville, Tenn, were to be held Saturday at 4:30 pm in the Coffman Funeral Home. Burial was to be made in Ferncliff Cemetery; Mr VERMILLION is said to have died from injuries sustained about two months ago in a mine accident at Coal Creek. He was born in Lawrence County, Ohio, the son of Jesse and Susan GRIFFITH VERMILLION, who as the time of their deaths a few years ago were Springfield residents. Mr VERMILLION was a member of Waterloo Lodge No 532 Free and Accepted Masons, of Waterloo, O, and of the Coal Creek Baptist Church. Survivors are his widow, Amy; one son, Fred, Jr, both of Coal Creek; two brothers, John VERMILLION, of Springfield and J H VERMILLION, of Kentucky; and one sister, Mrs Nellie HEIL of Jamestown, O. The body upon its arrival Saturday at 2 pm will be removed to the Coffman Funeral Home.

Sigmund LANDGRAF, 78, of the Esplanade Hotel, died Tuesday at 10:05 p.m. in the City Hospital, following admittance Monday. Born in Germany, Mr. LANDGRAF came to Springfield about 1890 and then moved to Enon. A baker, Mr. LANDGRAF is said to have been noted for the rye bread he baked. Upon his retirement in 1918, he returned to Springfield and had been living in this city since then. He was a member of the German Benevolent Society and of Lessing Lodge, Knight of Pythias. There are no survivors in the United States. The body was removed to the Jacob Holl and Son funeral home where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with burial in Ferncliff Cemetery.

HARLEY HARRIS TAKEN BY DEATH. Resident of Station Av. Succumbs To Illness. Harley HARRIS, 57, of 309 Stanton av., died at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday at the Cit Hospital, where he had been a patient since July 15. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Hazel HARRIS, four daughters, Viola, Marjorie, Charlotte and Jeanette; and one son, Paul. He was a member of the Oakland Presbyterian Church. The body was taken to the Fox Funeral Home, where it may be viewed to noon Thursday. Funeral and burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Glen Haven Memorial Park.

Mrs. Elizabeth NICKLAS, 79, of 102 Floral av., died Tuesday at 11:30 p.m. in the City Hospital. She had sustained a fractured hip in a fall in her home and had been admitted to the hospital July 13. Born in Germany, November 2, 1856, the daughter of Philip and Elizabeth HOTZ, Mrs. NICKLAS had come to Springfield when a baby. She had lived in this city about 78 years. A member of the Grace Ridgewood Lutheran Church, Mrs. NICKLAS is survived by three sons, John, Henry and Oliver NICKLAS: three daughters, Mrs. Cora WOLF, Mrs. Amelia COOK, and Mrs. Rose FREY; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret USTLER, Mrs. Anna HEINDEL and Mrs. Katherine BOERGER; 17 grandchildren, all of Springfield. The body was removed to the Jackson funeral home. Services will be held at the Grace Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Friday with burial in Ferncliff Cemetery.

BOWMAN, HERZOG, MANNS, MILLER Name of Newspaper is Daily News, Springfield, OH on Wednesday, July 22, 1936

Word has been received in this city from Fresno, Calif., of the death on Tuesday of Clemens Edward HERZOG, of Los Angeles, Calif., a former resident of this city, who was injured July 20 while employed by the United States government bureau of public roads at General Park. His death occurred at the Burnett Sanitarium at Fresno. He was born in Springfield. He attended the St. Bernard and St. Joseph Schools and Churches. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1923. After his discharge from the service, he was married to Miss Julia BOWMAN, of Los Angeles. He had been employed by the United States Government as a surveyor, civil engineer and grade inspector. He was doing this king of work at the time he was injured. He leaves many friends in Springfield to mourn their loss. He is survived by his wife and three children, all of Log Angeles, Margie, 8: Joyce, 5; and James Edward, 2; his mother, Mrs. Myrtle MANNS; a brother, Richard; and a sister, Mrs. Alma HERZOG MILLER, of this city.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Anna EHL; three daughters, Mrs. Carrie CARNHAN, of Columbus; Mrs. Flora RAPPERT and Mrs. Leona CHERRY, both of this city; one son, Carl H. EHL; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was a member of the German Benevolent Socity, and of the Zion Lutheran Church and the Martin Luther Society of that Church. The youth, a junior in the Enon High School, died as the result of injuries sustained when a tractor he was driving overturned. He was pinned beneath the machine, dying before he could be extricated.

Mrs. George A. Wendt, of 512 E. Grand av., died Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Harper Memorial Hospital in Detroit, Mich., according to work received in Springfield. She had gone there Saturday to undergo an operation. A native of this city, Mrs. Wendt had lived her entire life in Springfield. She was a member of the St. Joseph Church. Survivors are her husband, George A.; a daughter, Betty, of Springfield; her father, William F. Leipold, of Springfield; and two brothers, William F., also of Springfield; and Theodore Leipold of Detroit. The body will be returned to Springfield Thursday.

Funeral services for Oliver Hale ANDERSON, 77, president of The Springfield Federal Savings and Loan Association, will be held Wednesday at 2:30 pm in the Covenant Presbyterian Church. Mr Anderson died Monday at 12:30 pm in his home, 531 S Fountain Ave from a heart attack. He had been in ill health for the last two years. Last rights for Mr Anderson will be in charge of the Rev Dr Ross Miller, pastor of the Covenant Presbyterian Church. Scottish Rite services also will be held in the church Wednesday. Burial will be made in the Ferncliff Cemetery. A director of The Springfield Federal Savings and Loan Association for the last 30 years, Mr Anderson had been president of the institution for the last several years. He also was president of The Barnett-Anderson Co, a director of The Springfield Baking Co, a former president of the old Commercial Club and its successor, the Springfield Chamber of Commerce. Mr Anderson also was a member of the Kiwanis Club, a trustee of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Springfield Real Estate Board. Before becoming president of The Springfield Federal Savings and Loan Association, Mr Anderson served as vice president. Before its recent reorganization, the institution was known as The Springfield Building and Loan Association. Prominent in Masonic circles, Mr Anderson received his 50 year Masonic membership medal from the Grand Lodge of Ohio, Free and Accepted Masons, in 1935. His membership in the Masons began in 1883. In 1891, Mr Anderson served as master of Anthony Lodge, no 455, F and AM. He recently resigned as secretary of Springfield Chapter, No 48, Royal Arch Masons after serving in that capacity for 42 years. A member of Springfield Council, No 17, Royal and Select Masters, Mr Anderson had been recorder of the council for 41 years prior to his recent resignation from that office. Mr Anderson served as eminent commander of Palestine Commandery, No 33, Knights Templar in 1894. He was a member of the Dayton Consistory, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Masons and of the Springfield Shrine Club. He also was a trustee of The Springfield Masonic Temple Co. Born in Springfield May 29, 1859, the son of James and Mary Anderson, pioneer residents of Clark County, Mr Anderson had been a resident of this city all his life. His education was received in the local public schools and Springfield High School. His widow, Mrs Mary W ANDERSON; one daughter, Mrs E.J.B. GORMAN of Dayton, Oh and one sister, Mrs James MECHLIN of Springfield survive.

Mrs. Allie M. HARVEY Victim Of Pneumonia. SOUTH CHARLESTON, O. Nov. 28 - Mrs. Allie M. HARVEY, 72, died of pneumonia Friday at 8 p.m., at her home in South Charleston. She had been ill only a few days. Mrs. HARVEY was the widow of W. R. HARVEY, who for many years conducted a grocery and meat business here. A daughter, Mrs. Edna EUHLER, and a son, Clarence E. HARVEY, both of South Charleston, survive. The body was removed to the Sprague Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted Monday, at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be made in Greenlawn Cemetery.

William L. BUCHER, 80, lifelong resident of New Carlisle, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. G. WELLER of 1615 Woodward av., Saturday, at 6:30 a.m., following an illness of six weeks. He was a member of the New Carlisle Methodist Church. He had been living with his daughter during his illness. Besides his daughter, he leaves one son, Charles M. BUCHER; two grandsons and one granddaughter, all of Springfield; a sister, Mrs. Aaron HOKE, and two brothers, John and George of New Carlisle. The body was taken to the Trotsel Funeral Home in New Carlisle. Funeral services will be conducted from the church at 2:30 p.m. Monday, with burial in the New Carlisle Cemetery.

Isaac S. CANADY, 87 died Saturday morning at this home, 1536 W. High Street, following a two month's illness. Mr. CANADY was born in Watseka, Ill, Dec. 10, 1849, and had been a resident of Springfield for the last 75 years. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and of Ingomar Lodge, No. 610, Knights of Pythias. Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. George E. LECRONE of Springfield; and Mrs. John HARRIS of Norfolk, Va.; a sister, Mrs. M.M. EGBERT of Ardmore, Okla.; a brother Edwin A. CANADY of Hobart Mills, Calif., and two grandchildren. The body was taken to the Coffman Funeral Parlors, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be made in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Daniel W. HELMER, 77, was found dead at his home in Enon Thursday morning. When found he was seated in a chair by a stove. Coroner Austin RICHARDS, who was called, pronounced death due to natural causes. Mr. HELMER had lived in Enon for many years. He had been the sexton of the Enon cemetery until several years ago, when he retired. He was a widower and lived alone. The body was taken to the Boehringer Funeral Home in Enon.

Mrs. Ida M. MaGAW, 77 died Tuesday at 3:20 pm in her home at 224 W. Southern av., following an illness of three months. A native of Pitchin, Mrs. MaGAW had lived in Clark County and Springfield her entire life. She was a member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church. Mrs. MaGAW's husband, Robert H. died about 10 years ago. Survivors are four sons, Charles W., William C. and Robert H. all of Springfield, and George H. of Milwaukee, Wis., one sister, Mrs. Phoebe E. STEINHART of Springfield, and 10 grandchildren. The body was removed to the Jackson funeral home, where services will be held at 2 pm Friday, with burial in Ferncliff cemetery.

The body was removed to the Morris and Sons funeral home in Osborn. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, in the Enon Methodist Episcopal Church, of which she was a member, and burial will be made in the Enon Cemetery.

Carl W. JUNG, 19, an employee of The Kroger Company, died at 3:15 a.m. Saturday at his home, 102 Freeman Street. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Grace JUNG; two brothers, Joseph and Edward, and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth BARRETT and Mrs. Mary CAMPBELL, all of Springfield. Mr. JUNG was a member of the St. Bernard Church. The body was taken to the Degenhart Funeral Home and will be returned to the residence Sunday morning and services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Bernard Church with burial in the St. Bernard Cemetery.

James T. Baker, 75, of 124 N. Lowry av., died in his home at 2:30 a.m. Sunday following a brief illness. Mr. Baker was born in Clark County Jan. 23, 1862, and had lived in Springfield and vicinity all his life. For 40 years he had been employed at the old American Seeding Machine Co., and in the present plant, the Oliver Farm Equipment Co. He was a member of the Central Methodist Episcopal Church, and of Springfield Council No. 240, Junior Order United American Mechanics. His widow, Mae a son, Chester E., of Springfield and two grandsons, James A. and Chester E. Baker, Jr., survive. The body was removed to the Jackson Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be made in Ferncliff Cemetery. The Rev. Jesse Swank, D. D., pastor of the Central M. E. Church, will have charge of the service.

Besides the son at whose home he died, he leaves two other sons, Maurice of Bucyrus and John of Xenia; two brothers, Frank and George of Ellensburg, Washington; and one sister, Miss Rosa, also of Ellensburg. He was a member of the St. Joseph Church and of the Catholic Knights of Ohio of Delaware. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Church, with burial in Delaware, O. The body was taken to the O'Brien Funeral Home and will be returned to the residence Saturday.
