She was formerly employed with the Springfield Furniture Company. Survivors include one son, George NOKES of Springfield; ten grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; five sisters, Etta BENSTON, South Vienna, Gladys BARNHART, North Hampton, Letha MORIN, Springfield, Marie Amelia TEETS, North Hollywood, California, and Dorothy June FULLER of Hilliard; one brother, Lloyd A. ENGLE, Brighton, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1966; one son, Paul; one sister Marguerite WINKHART; and two brothers, John and George ENGLE. Her body was taken to the Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home where friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. She was the granddaughter of Edward WREN. She was a graduate of Wittenberg University and was the first president of Alpha Nu Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta. Paul (Bucky) W. Walters, 66, of 822 Tanglewood Drive, died Saturday, April 8, 1989 at 11:50 p.m. in Community Hospital. He was born April 26, 1922, in Circleville, Ohio, the son of John and Christine (HELWAGEN) WALTERS. He retired from the Springfield Public School System where he had been employed as a Teacher, Coach, and Athletic Director at South High School. Mr. WALTERS was a veteran of World War II serving with the Navy. He was an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was a former President of the Church Council; a member of the Varsity C. Club of Capital University and received the Alumni Varsity C Award from the University and was inducted into the Capital Athletic Hall of Fame in 1980. He was a former chairman of the Western Ohio League and assisted in the writing of the league handbook, he was former president of the Greater Ohio League. In 1966, Mr. WALTERS was inducted into the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. He received special recognition from the South High Boosters Club for 28 years of service. The new gymnasium at South High School was named in his honor in 1984. He was an honorary member of the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association. He was also the former basketball coach of Columbus East High School from 1947-1953, where his team won the state basketball championship in 1951. Survivors include his wife, Martha; three daughters and two sons-in-law; Stephanie and Craig MILLER, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, Sue and William WOLFORD, of Worthington, Ohio, and Stacey WALTERS, at home; three sons, Scott, of Columbus, Steven, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Samuel, of Columbus; a sister, Dorothy NORMAN, of Circleville, Ohio; and a brother, David WALTERS, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three grandchildren, Michelle and Traci MILLER, and Andrew WOLFORD; and several nieces and nephews. �Miss Georgiana Ochs, 79, of Springfield died Monday, April 10, 1989 at 4:07 p.m. in Community Hospital. She was born May 6, 1909 in Clark County the daughter of John and Louise (STULL) OCHS. She was a graduate of Springfield City Hospital in 1931 and received a B.S. Degree from Wittenberg College in 1938. Miss OCHS also received her M.S. in Nursing in 1947 from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Western Reserve University, Miss OCHS served as a Captain in the U. S. Army Nurses Corps from 1942 to 1946. She served in New Guinea and in the Phillippines during the Liberation. She was Chief of Nursing at the Station Hospital in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and then later at the Veteran Administration Hospital in Minneapolis. She was appointed Director of Nursing at Community Hospital in 1955 where she remained until she retired in 1969 and later worked in nursing at the Ohio Masonic Home. She was the recipient of the Meritoroius Service Award in 1968, the highest award given by Community Hospital. She also was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and Community Hospital Auziliary. Survivors include a sister, Ruth COSTIN, of Springfield; niece, Mrs. Benjamin (Mary Louise) STULL; two great nieces and two great nephews, all of Saugerties, New York. He was a member of the Eastside Freewill Baptist Church and was retired from the Springfield Board of Education. GMG II (SW) R. Errick Lawrence, 29, of 3741 Mumper Road, Springfield, died Wednesday, April 19, 1989. He was born November 22, 1959 in Clark County the son of Richard Taylor and Paula L. (RAY) LAWRENCE. He was a member of Christ in Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a 1978 graduate of Northeastern High School. He attended Anderson College and Wright State University. Errick was very active in all levels of baseball, beginning as a 7 year old playing Pre-Peanut ball and continuing on playing in the Babe Ruth League, High School Varsity baseball and College baseball. He played for Foreman's in the Lawrence-Haddix League and the M.O.B.A., he also played AA baseball in Dayton for Busch. He was on many all All-Star teams throughout his career and he coached W.B.L.Y. and several All-Star teams in the local Babe Ruth League. Errick was active in Pee-Wee Football and CYO football in the Northridge area and was a member of the Springfield Umpires Association. Errick joined the United States Navy Reserves on March 19, 1982 and then enlisted in the United States Navy September 1, 1982. He received his basic training in RTC Great Lakes, Illinois. He joined U.S.S. Saratoga Fitting Out Detachment December 17, 1982 and then was assigned to the U.S.S. Saratoga for duty on January 23, 1983 until 1987. He re-enlisted for NAVET training in Great Lakes, Illinois January 23, 1987 and reported to the LMET school in Little Creek, Virginia, where he was advanced to GMG II (SW) March 3, 1987. He then was assigned to the U.S.S. Iowa March 21, 1987 and then attained the Enlisted Surface Warfare Designator February 25, 1988. He received the Naval Unit Commendation with two bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Navy E Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He is survived by his parents of Springfield; maternal grandmother, Dorothy E. RAY; paternal grandmother, Helen B. LAWRENCE both of Springfield; one brother, Brett Anthony LAWRENCE of Eldora, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Artie (Tori) GUETH of Springfield and ReDawn LAWRENCE of Ames, Iowa; one nephew, Taylor Lawrence GUETH. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Irwin "Mose" LAWRENCE and Paul T. RAY. Graveside services will be held with full military honors at 10 a.m. Saturday in Ferncliff Cemetery. He was a platter for D and H Manufacturing Company, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church and Local Number 1814 (UAW). He is survived by his wife, Versie (SMITH) BOWMAN; three sons, Rodney E., Sr., Ronald, and Randy BOWMAN, all of Mechanicsburg; two daughters, Mrs. William (Faye) WILDMAN of Catawba and Mrs. James (Glenda) WILDMAN of Mechanicsburg; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by one brother. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Jackson, Lytle & Coffman Funeral Home. Services will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Missionary Baptist Church where his body will lie in state for one hour prior to the services. Rev. James E. Reed will be officiating. He was a retired Colonel from the United States Air Force, a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Fresno State University also a Master of Science Degree from the University of California and a masters of Business Administration from the University of Indiana. He was a retired Chemistry teacher from South High School in 1980, a member of The National Trail Lions Club where he served as past president also a member of the Springfield Literary Club and the Highlands United Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Arlene; one daughter, Mrs. John (Clara) POTTER, one son, Edward E. Louis P. PUSZTAY, 74, passed away at 9:15 a.m., May 12, 1989 in Mercy Medical Center following five months of failing health. He was born in St. Louis,Missouri on June 13, 1914 the son of Louis and Mary (FUCHS) PUSZTAY and resided here for the past six years. He had been employed as an electrical engineer for the Pullman Company for 32 years and later as an inspector for Amtrak Railroad for five years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and was very active in woodworking, particularly in the construction of grandfather clocks. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary J.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Nelson SARTORIS of Springfield; a son, James J. PUSZTAY of Streamwood, Illinois; one brother, Russell of Sherriville, Indiana; two grandchildren, Kathleen and David SARTORIS; three nieces and one nephew. Lydia S. KEMPLER, 84 of Oakwood Village, died there at 5:14 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 1989. She was born in Reutlingen, Germany, October 30, 1904, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. SCHAUDT. She was a graduate City Hospital School of Nursing and she received her BS degree at Wittenberg College. She was a member of the Temple Sholom, a member and past president of the Pilot Club. She had formerly been employed in the office of Dr. Louis H. Mendleson and was also a nursing instructor at Community Hospital and had served as industrial nurse for the Speco Company. Survivors include one brother and one sister of Germany and several nieces and cousins and many dear friends. Her husband, Leon preceded her in death June 7, 1967. Her body was taken to the Jackson, Lytle & Coffman Funeral Home where services will be held there at 10 a.m. Friday, June 9. Rabbi Lloyd R. Goldman officiating. Burial in Ferncliff Cemetery. He received a plaque on April 28, 1989, from the Elderly United of Springfield and Clark County for 19 years servicing as a trustee. He was a two term Past President of the AARP Chapter 291 of Springfield. He is survived by his wife, Viola (Griffith) Steele; one son, Robert David Steele; one sister, Velda Henslee of Springfield; one brother, Russell O. of Springfield. Preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Vernon, and Marion. Friends may call in the Littleton Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-8 p.m. Wednesday where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Glen Weller officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Contribution may be made to the Springfield Paramedics. Active Pallbears will be, Robert Steele, Robert Jordan, Fred Martineau, William Ivory, and Ernel Vertrees.

Page 21. Raymond F. BATTIN, 84, of South Charleston, died Monday, June 26, 1989 at 5:06 p.m. in Community Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Selma, Ohio, May 11, 1905, the son of Orlando and Esther (MATTHEWS) BATTIN. He was a graduate of Selma High School and attended Earlham College, Richmond, Indiana and had been a lifelong resident of Selma where he was a retired farmer. He was a Birth Rite member of Green Plain Monthly Meeting (Little Brick, Selma, Ohio) a member of the Fielding Lodge Number 192, South Charleston, High Twelve, Bradenton, Florida, Board of Waynesville Friends Home, Waynesville, Ohio and a member of numerous farmer, church and civic organizations. Survivors include his wife, Mildred (GUENTZEL), whom he married, June 28, 1930; one son, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Allen (Fran) BATTIN, South Charleston and one daughter, Caroline BATTIN TAYLOR of Rochester, Michigan; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Matthews BATTIN and one sister, Edith Winder BATTIN. Friends may call in the Ingling-Williams Funeral Home, South Charleston Thursday from 5-8 p.m. The following day there will be graveside services t the convenience of the family in the Friend's Tradition. Burial to follow in Green Plaines Meting Little Brick. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or charities of your choice.

Page 12. Harry A. SNYDER, 77, of 2824 South York Street, Springfield died at 9:40 p.m. Monday, June 26, 1989. He was born in Ross County, Ohio on February 7, 1912, the son of Frederick and Florence Jennie (SUTHER) SNYDER. He was a retired employee of Wagner Mayflower. Survived by three sons, Albert SNYDR, Springfield, Joe SNYDER of Buckeye Lake, Ronnie SNYDER of Springfield; three daughters, Helen HARRIS of Frazeysburg, Ohio, Lucille EDINGER, London, Ohio, and Phoebe BORING of Florida; one brother, Bill SNYDER of Londonderry, Ohio; two sisters, Flossie PAGE and Scioto JONES, both of Chillicothe; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie SNDYER, I 1982; two sons; two daughters, several brothers and sisters. Friends may call at the Austin Richards and Raff Memorial Home on Thursday form 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the memorial Home, with Pastor Jim Britton officiating. Burial will be in Fletcher Chapel Cemetery.
