Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie M. NAVE, 73, of 1704 S. Fountain av., who died at 7 a.m. Saturday in her home following a lingering illness, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Wood funeral home. Burial will be in the Garlough Cemetery near Pitchin. Gleanor Council No. 195, Daughters of America, of which Mrs. NAVE was a member, will hold services at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Born in Clinton County, June 6, 1873, Mrs. NAVE was the daughter of James R. and Margaret J. LITTLER. Mrs. NAVE, however, passed most of her life in Clark County. She was the widow of John Charles NAVE, who died May 31, 1944. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Margaret STEWART of Springfield and Mrs. Fern CRAIG of Springfield, Route 5, five sons, Harold of Claude, Tex; Paul, Frank and Orval of Springfield, and Arlin of Seattle, Wash; three brothers, William LITTLER of Pitchin, Glenn LITTLER of Springfield and Clyde of Los Angeles; 24 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Ira Otis BISHOP, 64, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday in his residence., 814 Rice st., following a long illness. In failing health for the last 10 months, Mr. BISHOP had been seriously ill for a week prior to his death. Born in Logan County, Dec. 19, 1881, he moved to Springfield 43 years ago, and for the past 27 years was employed as an engine erector by the National Supply Co. Mr. BISHOP was a member of St. John's Evangelical Church and the Quarter Century Club. Surviving are his widow, Marie A. BISHOP; two daughters, Mrs. Vera COX and Mrs. Marjorie SHIPTON, and one grandson, Robert J. SHIPTON, all of Springfield; three brothers, William J. BISHOP, Columbus, George BISHOP, North Lewisburg, and Bernice BISHOP, Mott, N.D., and two sisters, Mrs. Emory WAGNER, Kings Creek, and Mrs. Charles POOLE, Toledo. The body was removed to Littleton funeral home, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday with the Rev. Richard HOEFLER in charge. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Otho F. LEATHERMAN, 62, of Springfield, Route 2, died in his home at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. He had been ill two years. Mr. LEATHERMAN, a farmer, had resided on Route 2 his entire life. He was born July 29, 1884, and was a member of the Church of the Brethren, near North Hampton. His survivors are his widow, Orpha; two daughters, Louise and Lucille LEATHERMAN, and two sons, Lamar and Harold, all at home, and a brother, I. D. LEATHERMAN of Elgin, Ill. The body was removed to the Littleton funeral home, where it will remain until services at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Church of the Brethren. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, near North Hampton. Bellefontaine - Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the J. Lynn Fisher funeral home, Troy, for Harley Albert BRENNER, 66 who died Sunday in his home in Lakeview. He was born July 21, 1889 in Sulphur Grove, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John BRENNER. Surviving are his widow, Lillie NORTH BRENNER, and a son, Clarence BRENNER of Springfield. She had been in failing health for several years Mrs. MUGG was born in Gosport, Ind., on Sept. 4, 1862, the daughter of James Henry and Nancy GARDNER BROWN, and had been a resident of Springfield for the past three years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Quincy, Ind. and the Order of Eastern Star in Quincy. Mr. COE had lived in Jeffersonville, and more than 45 years in Springfield before returning to Bookwalter three years ago. Edward M. SCHMID, 50, for the past 14 years a machinist for The Crowell-Collier Publishing Co., died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday in his home, 2245 S. Limestone st. He had been suffering nearly a year and one-half from a heart condition. His wife, Evelyn T., died on Aug. 4, 1946 in this city. Mr. SCHMID, the son of John and Louise K. BRONNE SCHMID, was born in Springfield on Oct. 11, 1896, and had lived here all his life. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Survivors are three daughters, Martha, Mildred and Wilma, and two sons, John and Robert, all at home; three sisters, the Misses Minnie, Amelia and Esther SCHMID, and two brothers, Charles and Alfred, all of this city.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Lucille ODELL of Urbana, and three sisters, Mrs. Olive M. WARD, Mrs. Anna GABRILL and Mrs. Goldie BECKWITH, all of St. Paris.

Born in Pickaway County March 6, 1872, a son of Cyrus and Elizabeth NORRIS MOORE, Mr. MOORE had resided in Springfield for the last 34 years. He was a member of the Church of God. A contractor painter for more than 25 years, he had been employed at Robbins and Myers, Inc., as an assembler for the last few years. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Effa M.; two daughters, Mrs. Blanche MEENACH of Harmony, and Mrs. Grace AMMERMAN of Richmond, Va; a son Robert E. of Springfield; a sister Mrs. Maude HIGGINS of Columbus, and six grandchildren. The body was taken to the Littleton funeral home for services at 3 p.m. Thursday, Rev. O. O. Boggess, pastor of the Second Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Park

Born in Clark county, Dec. 8, 1861, she is survived by three sons, Jay LEWIS of St. Paris, Howard LEWIS and Harry PRINTZ, both of Urbana, and six grandchildren. The body was removed to The Humphreys and Son funeral home where it will remain for services at 10 am. Thursday in charge of the Rev. E. A. Brown, pastor of the Urbana Methodist Church. Born July 22, 1871, at Yellow Springs, the daughter of James b and Rebecca ILIFF, she had resided in Springfield approximately 60 years. survivors include three sons, Edward, James F and Charles Arthur, all of Springfield; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Another son, Elmer, was killed in an accident in Oregon in 1904. The body was removed to the Littleton funeral home and will be returned to the Kenwood av home of her son Thursday morning for services at 1:30 pm Friday in charge of Rev Loren Mason pastor of the Home Mission Church. Mr KING died at 10:50 pm Sunday in his home following several years of failing health. The body was taken to Sprague funeral home in South Charleston and was to be returned to the residence Tuesday afternoon, where it will remain until services. Mr KING was born in Bloomington, Ill, and came to Clark County with his parents when he was seven years old. He was a mail carrier until his retirement on Feb 01, 1934. Funeral services for Mrs. Ida EVERHART, 71, wife of Scott EVERHART, farmer of South Vienna, Route 1, who died at 9 p.m. Friday in her home after a three-month critical illness, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Methodist Church, Catawba, the Rev. Raymon Konkright officiating. Burial will be in McConkey Cemetery near Catawba. The body was taken to the Jackson-Lytle funeral home where it will remain until noon Monday when it will be taken to the church in Catawba where it will lie in state until time for services. Mrs. EVERHART was a member of the First Methodist Church in Catawba, and had been active in church work. She and her husband lived on their farm on Route 1, south of Catawba, for 53 years, since shortly after their marriage. Mrs. EVERHART was a native of Woodstock and was born March 28, 1875 the daughter of William and Elizabeth Taylor. She was a former member of Pleasant Township Grange. Survivors are her husband and a brother, Bert TAYLOR of South Vienna, Route 1.

John B. PERRIN, 89, died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walter T. HAMILTON, 26 Dover rd., at 6:50 p. m. Monday. He had been ill three weeks. Mr. PERRIN was born in Logansville, April 29, 1857, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William F. PERRIN, and came with his parents to Springfield when he was 20. He was associated with many Springfield industrial firms, the last one being The Bauer Bros., Co., which he left in 1920 when he became associated with The Oil Well Supply Co. of Pittsburgh. He was a charter member of the Clifton Avenue Methodist Church and a past noble grand of Ephriam Lodge No. 146 of the IOOF. Since he retired several years ago, he had lived with his daughter, his only immediate survivor. The body was taken to the Littleton funeral home.

Mrs. JOHNSON formerly lived with Mrs. HULING.Mrs. JOHNSON's husband, who died in 1935, had been associated with The Buffalo-Springfield Roller Co. Mrs. JOHNSON suffered a stroke two weeks ago but prior to then had been in good health, Mrs. GOODFELLOW said. She was born Aug. 10, 1864, in Greene County, the daughter of Thomas and Sayer GREEN, but had lived in Clark County most of her life. Mrs. JOHNSON was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church and the Women's Society of Christian Service of the church. She also was a member of the Gold Star Mothers, ClarkCounty Chapter, and the American Legion Auxillary. She had a son, Roy CLICK,who was killed in World War I. Survivors are Mrs. GOODFELLOW, her daughter; a half sister, Mrs. Grace WOLFof Dayton; two grandsons, Roger and Donald GOODFELLOW of Springfield; twogranddaughters, Mrs. Joan HULING CARNES of Columbus and Mrs. Oladelle SEITZof Springfield, and five great grandchildren. The body was removed to Richards Memorial Home. The Gold Star Mothers, Inc.,local chapter will conduct ritualistic services Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Goodfellow residence.

He was a native of Madison County but moved to South Charleston 40 years ago. He waa a member of the South Charleston Methodist Church. Survivors are his widow, Emma STROUP LEWIS; his two daughters; two sisters, Mrs. Martell BRYAN of London and Mrs. S. P. A former resident of Springfield, she later moved to Chicago, where she made her home about 18 years, returning to this city last January. Mrs. Elsie SHAW TOSSEY, 74, mother of Gerald TOSSEY, 719 Linden av., died suddenly at 8:45 p.m. Thursday in the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary TOSSEY, 781 E. Southern av. Mrs. TOSSEY was a native of Delaware County and had spent most of her life in Union County. She had been visiting her son and other relatives in Springfield for the last two weeks. Other than her son, Mrs. TOSSEY is survived by another son, Cleland of Ostrander, O.; two brothers, Monroe SHAW of Ashley, O., and Ray SHAW of Oxford, Ind. She also is survived by seven grandchildren. The body was taken to the Miller funeral home in Marysville where services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with burial in the Marysville Cemetery. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday in Littleton Funeral Home for Mrs Mary WOOD ANDERSON, 85, widow of Oliver H ANDERSON, who died at 5:20 pm Sunday in Rickly Memorial Hospital of the Ohio Masonic Home after five years of failing health. The Rev Harold L Myers, assistant pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. A resident of Springfield all her life, Mrs Anderson was born here June f29, 1861, the daughter of Samuel R and Margaret MCINTIRE WOOD. Her husband died Nov 9, 1936. Prominent in church and social activities, Mrs Anderson for many years served on the board of directors of the Clark Memorial Home. She was a member of the Lagonda Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Covenant Presbyterian Church. During the construction of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Mrs Anderson served as co-chairman of the building committee. Mrs Anderson was admitted to the Masonic Home, March 14, 1946. She was sponsored by the Anthony Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, No 455 of Springfield. Her sister, Mrs J.S. ELLIOTT, widow of the founder of the J.S. Elliott Insurance Co in Springfield, died last Tuesday. Mrs Anderson is survived by a sister, Mrs W.M. CARTMELL of Springfield, and two brothers, W.L.WOOD of this city and Rodney J WOOD of Dayton; a son-in-law E.J.GORMAN of Dayton, and four nieces and five nephews.

Raymond MCCANDLESS, 21, of 1420 Beacon st., died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Clark County Sanatorium. Mr. MCCANDLESS was born at Camp Creek, O., Aug. 13, 1925, and had been a resident of Springfield for four years. He had made his home with an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Noah MCCANDLESS. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Rose, and two sisters, Dorothy and Rosemary, all of Portsmouth. The body was taken to the Jackson-Lytle funeral home and later will be taken to the Trefz funeral home in Peebles, O., for funeral services and burial.

Mrs. Hazel SLAGLE CRAWFORD, 39, wife of Mertlo CRAWFORD, former Springfield resident, died at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday in Grant Hospital, Columbus, following an illness of five moths. Mrs. CRAWFORD was born in Clark County on July 8, 1907 and had been a resident of Columbus for the last 23 years. She was a member of the Wayne Avenue Church of God in Columbus. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Gladys SAHR; a son, Edwin, Jr.: five sisters, Mrs. Flossie REHL, and Mrs. Ruth SADLER of Columbus, Mrs. Mary HYATT, Mrs. Gladys MORRIS and Mrs. Stella MAINE of Springfield; five brothers, Arthur, Elmer and Floyd of Columbus, Paul of Springfield, and Delbert of San Mateo, Calif. Other survivors include two sons, Henry of Chicago, and Milton of Cincinnati, and one sister, Mrs. Irma SCHAFFRAN of Cincinnati. Burial will be in Cincinnati.

Four Springfield persons were dead Monday as a result of CLARK County's worst automobile accident in eight years. Coroner Austin Richards was expected to render a verdict of accidental death, Monday or Tuesday. The accident occurred Sunday afternoon on the Enon Rd. seven miles west of Springfield. The victims were: Charles CALLISON 63, (he should have been 58 acc. to birthdate on WWI registration but under the circumstances, mistakes understood) apparently the driver of the car, his wife, Mary, 66 their daughter, Maxine KADEL, 33 and her husband, John A. KADEL, 38 all of 1708 Lagonda Av. Identification was established by Mr. CALLISON's son, Richard, of the same address, about two hours after the accident. The accident occurred at the Enon Station, one half mile north of Enon, at 4:20 pm Sunday. Victor Hanes and Frank LONG of Enon, witnesses, told the State highway Patrol, the Callison car was going south on the Enon Rd., slowed for the crossing, then pulled into the path of the westbound train, which NYC spokesman here said was traveling about 60 miles and hour. The witnesses told the patrol the automobile was lifted about 125 feet and then rolled about 125 feet after hitting the ground. The automobile was demolished. Mr. CALLISON was thrown clear of the car and his body was found about 20 feet beyond the wreckage. The other victims were pinned in the car and were extracted by members of the State highway Patrol and the Clark county sheriff's office. Coroner Austin Richards who was called to the scene stated that all four were apparently killed instantly. While a routine investigation of the deaths was underway Monday, the coroner said accidental death verdicts would be the only verdicts he could give. The crossing was not guarded by blinkers or gates and a large brick structure on the left side of the road about 50 feet from the crossing partly obscures vision of the tracks to a driver of an approaching vehicle. Train engineer was William Richards of Sharonville, Ohio and L.W.Hyde, also of Sharonville, was the train conductor. The accident did not tieup train traffic as the wreckage was thrown clear of the rails. The victims had left their home on Lagonda Av earlier in the afternoon and visited friends and relatives on Mitchell blvd. They left about an hour before the accident stating that they were going for a pleasure ride, according to relatives. Mrs. CALLISON had been ill since early in December, the relatives added. They stated she had not been out of the house since her illness until sunday. The bodies were removed to richards Memorial Home and later taken to the O'Brien-Kenney funeral home for services sometime Wednesday. Mr CALLISON had been an employee of the International harvester co. for many years and Mr. Kadel was employed by the Ohio Steel Foundry Co. Mrs. KADEL was an employee of the Croswell-Collier Publishing co. Mr and Mrs CALLISON are survived by four sons, George, Charles, Richard and Keith, all of Springfield. Mrs. CALLISON is also survived by six sisters, Mrs. A.L. NOLAN, Mrs. Floyd A. SMITH, Mrs. Harry BAKER, Mrs. Fred FLICK, Helen M. GIBSON all of Springfield and Mrs. Millar B. WHITE of Oklahoma city; two brothers, George and John GIBSON, both of Springfield. Mr CALLISON is survived also by a brother and sister Mr and Mrs. KADEL are survived by a son, John Jr. while Mr. KADEL also is survived by his mother and father, Mr and Mrs. Albert KADEL of Springfield, route 1, four brothers, Earl of Dayton; George and Huston, of Springfield, route 1 and Alberton Jr, New Carlisle, route 3 and a sister, Mrs. Willis SMITH of Springfield.

Norma Jean MAPES, 7, of St. Paris, Route 1, died in the Springfield City Hospital at 10:15 a.m. Sunday after an illness of three weeks. She was born June 20, 1939 in Springfield, the daughter of Lewis and Edna MAPES, andin addition to her parents is survived by three sisters, Ethel, Marlene and Lola, and a brother, Arnold, all at home. The body was removed to Richards Memorial Home.

Horace Vernon EVILSIZOR, 60, who was employed by the American Radiator and Standard Sanitary Corp, 132 W Main St, died at 10:30 P.M. Sunday in his home, 101 1/2 S Race St, after several years of failing health. Mr Evilsizor was born in Springfield on Nov 2, 1886 and lived there all his life. He was the son of Simeon and Zelda EVILSIZOR, Mr Evilsizor was an honorary member of the National Association of Master Plumbers and was a member of the local and state associations of the organization. Sherman N. HISER, 81, of 312 Yellow Springs st., died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in his home following three months illness. He was born in Lima, Oct 26, 1865, the son of Daniel H. and Sarah FICKES HISER and lived in Springfield for more than 60 years. Until his retirement 18 years ago, Mr. HISER operated the S. N. Hiser Co., manufacturers of infants and children's caskets. The business now is being conducted by his son, Benedict L. Mr. HISER was a member of Christ Episcopal Church; Moncrief Lodge, Knights of Pythias, and United Commercial Travelers. In addition to his son, he is survived by a brother, Charles H. or Springfield, two sisters, Mrs. Martha STUART of Urbana, and Mrs. Minnie EMRIE of Boston, Mass; one granddaughter, and one great grandson. Harley C. HIGHMILLER, 66, carpenter-contractor, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Springfield City Hospital where he had been admitted two hours earlier. Mr. HIGHMILLER, who resided at 614 E. Madison av., was taken suddenly ill while working on a construction project. Born in Bainbridge, O., on July 14, 1880, he had resided in Springfield for the last 45 years. Mr. HIGHMILLER was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, H. S. Kissell Lodge No 674, Free and Accepted Masons, and Palestine Commandery, Knights Templar. He was also a member of Norris Chapter No. 246, O.E.S. He is survived by his widow, Elizabeth; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha ROLLINS and Miss Effie HIGHMILLER, both of Springfield; a son, Wesley of Dayton, two sisters, Mrs. Bertha LUKSINGER of Springfield and Mrs. Effie ANDRES of Dayton, and a grandson. Mr. MCKEEVER, a metal polisher for the Steel Products Engineering Co., was ill six months and in the hospital a week. A native of Kansas, he was born April 13, 1896, and lived in Springfield approximately 30 years. He was a World War I veteran. Survivors are his widow, Ann; three brothers, J. W. PENCE, 79, former resident of New Carlisle an a farmer in that area for 33 years, died at 6 p.m. Saturday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lowell DILLON, Lima after two years of failing health and a week of serious illness. Mr. PENCE was a farmer for 65 years and was prominent as a potato grower. He retired from farming in March 1943 an had been residing with his daughter in Lima for a year. Hew as a member of the New Carlisle Methodist Church an was active in the church affairs, teaching the men's Bible Class for 27 years. Mr. PENCE was born on Oct 31, 1968, in Logan County, the son of Aaron and Sarah PENCE. His wife, Nan E., preceded him in death on Dec. 28 1945. Survivors include the daughter in Lima; two sisters Mrs. Lucinda CROFT of Springfield and Mrs. Sarah WELTY of New Carlisle; two brothers, Isaac R. of Springfield and Henry A. of Tipp City; two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. The body will be brought to the Jackson-Lytle funeral home. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the New Carlisle Methodist Church, with the Rev C R. Radley, pastor, officiating.
