A sister, Catherine HILLS of Miamisburg; a grandson, Earl HATFIELD, and several nieces and nephews survive. The body was removed to Richard's Funeral Home.

Thomas Jefferson HASSLER, 82, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday at the home of his son, Homer HASSLER, 107 Reading Rd., Sharonville, Ohio. He was a former resident of Springfield. Mr. HASSLER left Springfield two years ago to make his home with his son. He came to Springfield from Crab Orchard, Tenn., in 1901, and had lived in Springfield until two years ago. He was a retired employee of the Big Four Railroad and a member of Veterans of Railway Employees. In addition to the son at whose home he died, he leaves another son, Riley H. HASSLER, of Springfield, and one daughter, Mrs. Maude MOORE, of Springfield, Route 1. The body was taken to the Woods Funeral Home and removed to residence of son, Riley, 301 N. Florence St., for services at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. F. L. Blevins officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery

Mrs. Johannah O'CONNOR, 85, died Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in her residence, at 1717 Lagonda av. Death followed an illness of two months. A native of Cardington, O., Mrs. O'CONNOR had lived in Springfield most of her life. She was a member of St. Raphael Church and of the Married Ladies Sodality of the Church. Survivors are six sons, Michael of Columbus, O., and Daniel, John J., Thomas P., Maurice and James, all of Springfield, three daughters, Mrs. John LEVALLEY of Columbus, and Mrs. Frank KARL and Miss Mary O'CONNOR, both of Springfield, 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. in St. Raphael Church. Burial will be made in Calvary Cemetery. The body was removed to the O'Brien funeral home and will be returned to the residence Monday afternoon.

The body was taken to the O'Brien funeral home, where it will remain until time of the funeral services. Mr. HATFIELD was born in Pitchin, a member of a pioneer Clark County family. His parents, Martin and Deliah WEBB HATFIELD, settled here in 1804. He had lived in Clark County and Springfield his entire life. Surviving are his widow, Cecilia; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur MASSMAN of Springfield; a son, Merle HATFIELD of Pittsburgh; a brother F. M. HATFIELD of Springfield, and a grandson, Robert MASSMAN of Springfield.

Private funeral services for Miss Mathilda Schneider, 77, who died at 3:55 p.m. Friday at the home of her brother, Dr. John Philip Schneider, 514 N. Wittenberg av., following a three-week illness, will be held at the residence at 11 a.m. Monday. Services will be in charge of the Rev. Carl Shanor, pastor of the Fourth Lutheran Church, with burial in Ferncliff Cemetery. Friends are requested to omit flower. The brother, at whose home she died, is her only immediate surviving relative.

She was born in New Carlisle, O., Oct. 29, 1860, the daughter of Eleven and Margaret Berry. Her father was the eleventh child of a family of 11 children. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Home City Temple, No. 113, Pythian Sisters, and the Past Chiefs' Association. Mr. and Mrs. Hawver celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Oct. 26, 1932. Survivors are her husband, Jacob E. Hawver; a daughter, Mrs. Bessie Stanaway of this city; a son, Edgar A. Hawver of Sidney and two grandsons, John J. and William A. Stanaway. The body was taken to the Richards Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday with burial in Ferncliff Cemetery.

A few hours later, at an intersection three miles north of Urbana, a Springfield woman was injured fatally on her 51st birthday anniversary, and six others were hurt to varying degrees.... The Dead: MRS. Iza SULTZBAUGH, 51, of 1560 S. Center Blvd., Springfield, who died at 2:45 a.m. Thursday in the Champaign County Hospital of injuries in accident near Urbana.......Mr. & Mrs. Melvin COMPTON of 913 Clifton Ave., Springfield; Marjorie SULTZBAUGH, 12, daughter of the dead woman; Mrs. Emerson SNAPP, 30, of Springfield, Route 6, another daughter of the victim, and Mrs. Snapp's son, Marion, 6; and Hildreth MYERS, 21, of the Park Seed Farm, north of Urbana-all injured in the SULTZBAUGH accident.... Mrs. SULTZBAUGH's death resulted from a skull fracture, a compound fracture of the right leg, fractured ribs, and a right wrist fracture......She, and five of the others injured in the crash were occupants of a car which collided at the intersection of U.S. Route 68, and State Route 290, two and a half miles north of Urbana, with a car driven by Hildreth MYERS. MYERS was alone in his automobile at the time. Mr. & Mrs. COMPTON, son-in-law and daughter, respectively, of Mrs. SULTZBAUGH, both suffered cuts and bruises, Marjorie, the 12 year old daughter, received face lacerations, a left leg fracture and general shock, an Mrs. SNAPP and her son received cuts and bruises. The condition of Marjorie, most severely injured of the six, was reported as "fair" Thursday morning. MYERS originally was believed to have been critically hurt, but his injuries Thursday was found to be not serious. The party in the car driven by Mrs. SULTZBAUGH were en route to their homes after a visit at the residence of Mrs. SULTZBAUGH's daughter, Mrs. Benjamin BRAMMER, four miles northeast of Urbana. The accident happened shortly before midnight. All the injured were in the Champaign County Hospital Thursday...... Mrs. SULTZBAUGH was born March 14 1889, in Champaign County. She was a member of the Second Lutheran Church of Springfield, Norris Chapter of Eastern Star, and Manito White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 27. Her husband, Walter SULTZBAUGH, preceded her in death March 8, 1931. Mrs. SULTZBAUGH is survived by two sons Thomas of Springfield, and Robert of Eldorado, O; four daughters, Mrs. SNAPP of Springfield, Route 6, Mrs. BRAMMER of near Springfield, and Marjorie of Springfield; her father, Thomas HECK of Urbana; a sister, Mrs. Harry RAMBY of St. Paris; a half sister, Miss Grace Fern HECK of Urbana, and four grandchildren. Enon man found dead in his bed. Frank CRIMMINS, 53, Lived Alone in Residence. Frank CRIMMINS, about 53 years old, was found dead in his home at Enon, O., at 4:45 p.m. Saturday. He had been living alone since the death of his brother, David, in 1937. Neighbors reported to CLARK County Sheriff George W. BENHAM that they had not seen the man during the last week, and asked that his home be investigated. Deputies forced entrance to the house, located at the intersection of Route 4 and Kansas av., and found the man dead in bed. Deputies said the body was sitting on the bed attired in night clothes. Coroner Austin RICHARDS was summoned and attributed death to natural causes. The coroner said the man had been dead about four or five days. The body was removed to the O'Brien funeral home.

He had been in failing health for the past year. Mr. KIRKPATRICK had resided at the Ohio Masonic Home since last August. He was born in LaSalle County, Ill., on May 15, 1860, but had been a resident of Springfield for 60 years. Prior to his retirement in 1930, he had been employed by The Oliver Farm Equipment Co. for 18 years. Mr. KIRKPATRICK had been a member of Clark Lodge No. 101, F and A.M., for 46 years. He was also a member of Springfield Chapter No. 48, Royal Arch Masons, of Springfield Lodge No. 33, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and of the First Lutheran Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Charles F. BUCHER of Springfield and a niece and nephew in Texas. His wife, Mrs. Gladys AULT KIRKPATRICK, died on September 23, 1937.

Sterling, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild survive. Funeral services will be conducted in the residence at 2 p.m. Wednesday with burial in Washington Cemetery.

The body will be shipped to Carlisle, Ky., at 5 a.m. Wednesday for further services there Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be made in Carlisle, Hr. She was the adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry SYDES of the Yellow Springs st. address. Besides her adopted parents, her father Sletney CONWAY, three sisters and two brothers survive. She was a student in the first grade of high school, and a member of the Fair st. Christian Church.

He was a former Springfielder. His death was due to a heart ailment. The body was taken to the Tipp City residence. Mr. GROVE was employed in the local plant of the International Harvester Co., before his illness. His father, Frank GROVE of Union, O.; his mother Mrs. Warren CHAMPLIN of Troy; a sister, Mrs. Minnie WILSON of Troy, and three brothers, Roy, of Springfield, Route 4; Albert of Dayton and William of Troy survive.

Mrs. Evans resided in Springfield for many years before moving to Bellaire about 15 years ago. Her husband, who survives, was one-time owner of a Springfield abattoir. While a resident of Springfield, Mrs. EVANS was an active member of the former Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal. Besides his daughter in Toledo, he leaves three other daughters, Mrs. Mabel DUANE, Mrs. Pauline PAPPERT and Mrs. Olive KLINE, all of Springfield; a son Glenn, of Bellefontaine; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Charles H Geron, 43, formerly of Springfield, died at 5:10 a.m. Saturday in his residence, 3756 S Broadway, Grove City, O. He had been ill three days. He was born May 12, 1897 in Champaign County. At the time of his death he was service manager of a Grove City garage. He had lived in Springfield for years and attended the United Brethren Church. He was a veteran of the World War attached to the air service at Fairfield. Survivors include his widow, Mrs Mildred Geron; a son, Norman; his parents, Mr and Mrs Phillip Geron, of Springfield, Route 6, and two brothers, Clarence H and Forest R Geron, both of Springfield. The body was sent to Springfield and removed to the Jackson Funeral Home Saturday afternoon. Services will be held at the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Monday and burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Services will be in charge of the Rev Leroy Snelker, of Dayton.

Funeral services for George A. SCHAEFER, Jr., 35, of 286 N. Broadmoor blvd. Secretary-treasurer and general manager of Schaefer's Inc., a bakery at 508-518 W. Main st., are being arranged. Mr. SCHAEFER died at 5:40 p.m. Monday in the All Souls Hospital at Morristown, N.J. He had been a patient at the hospital since Aug. 17. He was stricken with pleurisy while he and his wife were on a vacation. Attaches of the Morristown hospital first reported Mr. SCHAEFER'S condition "satisfactory" but when the pleurisy developed into pneumonia, his condition was termed "critical". Since Aug. 18, Mr. SCHAEFER'S parents, Mr. and Mrs. George A . SCHAEFER, Sr. , of 1001 E. High st., have been in Morristown. Mr. SCHAEFER had been in active charge of Schaefer's Inc., for several years. He assumed the duties from his father who is president of the concern. The bakery was founded in 1872 by the leader SCHAEFER'S father and is believed to be the oldest firm of its type in Springfield. In addition to his business interest, Mr. SCHAEFER was active in civic and social phases of the community. Mr. SCHAEFER for eight years served as president of the Wittenberg Alumni Association of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He retired from this post a year ago. Other affiliations included High Street Methodist Church; the Springfield Rotary Club; St. Andrew's Lodge No. 619, Free and Accepted Masons, and the Springfield Country Club. Mr. SCHAEFER was a native of Springfield. He obtained his education in the local public schools and at Ohio State University, Columbus. After completing his academic work at the state university, Mr. SCHAEFER joined his father in business. Since then, he has risen to active management of the bakery and had become prominent among bakers of the United States. About one year ago, Mr. SCHAEFER was honored by election to the directorate of Quality Bakers, Inc., of America, an organization of non-competing bakers. Mr. SCHAEFER was married in 1934 to Miss Kathryn KRAPP of New York City. Survivors are the widow, his parents, and a sister, Mrs. Harold KINSEY of Dawes, W. Va.

James FOLEY, 77, a former resident of Springfield, died at 11 p.m. Thursday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Lucy FISHBAUGH, in Middletown, O. He retired several years ago after being employed for 50 years with the International Harvester Co., at Chicago. He was foreman with the Harvester company, and had been a frequent visitor in Springfield. Mr. Foley was born in New Holland, O. Besides the sister at whose home he died, he leaves another sister, Mrs. Mary MURPHY of 1675 N. Limestone st., Springfield, and three brothers, Harry of Chicago, and Thomas and Simon, both of Cleveland. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. The body was brought to Springfield and taken to the O'Brien Funeral Home. It will be removed to the home of his sister, Mrs. MURPHY, Saturday afternoon. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the St. Teresa Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Caleb J. Tuttle, 84, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday at his home, at 1511 S. Fountain av. He had been ill about five weeks. He was a member of Clark Lodge No 101, Free and Accepted Masons. He was born in Clark County, and was one of the founders of the Elder and Tuttle Hardware Co. He retired from this business about 20 years ago. Mr. TUTTLE was an extensive farm owner, and since his retirement from the Hardware Comany, had devoted much of his time to that project. He was born July 28, 1856 the son of John J. and Martha Jane TUTTLE, pioneer residents of Clark�.(remainder of obit cut off)
