Alonzo BUTTS , 80, of 367 Sherman Ave., died in his home Sunday at 9:30a.m. He had been ill for the past three days. Mr. BUTTS was an employee of the Buffalo Springfield Roller Co. for 18 years. He was born in Darke County. A daughter, Mrs. Grace MOORE of Greenfield, Ohio survives. The body was removed to the Littleton funeral home and will be returned to the residence Monday afternoon. Services will be held in the residence Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be made in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Besides the son at whose home she died, she leaves two other sons, Raymond C., of Springfield, and the Rev. Irven D., of Lanark, Ill; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, besides two sisters, Mrs. Carrie FUNDERBURG of New Carlisle and Mrs. Anna KING of Route 2, and a brother, Peter DRESHER of Route 2. The body was taken to the Littleton Funeral Home and will be returned to the residence Saturday. Funeral services for William ROBERTS of Beatty, principal of the Emerson School, who died at 2:35 p.m. Friday at the City Hospital, following a two-week illness, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Littleton funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Dr. Dwight Guthrie, pastor of the Northminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will be made in Ferncliff Cemetery. The body will be taken from the funeral home Saturday afternoon to the residence and returned to the funeral home Sunday morning for the funeral services of Monday. A native of Delaware County, O., Mr. Roberts had lived in Springfield and Clark County almost his entire life. He was a son of John and Catherine ROBERTS. Starting his professional career as a teach in Reid School in Clark County, Mr. Roberts later entered the Springfield shcool system as principal of Lagonda School. Later, he held similar posts at Garfield and Lincoln Schools and then assumed the Emerson School principalship. Mr. Roberts was a member of the Anthony Lodge No. 455, Free and Accepted Masons. Survivors are the widow, Favola STEPHENSON ROBERTS; a brother, Carroll of Grape Grove, O.; and four sisters, the Misses Bertha and Mary ROBERTS, and Mrs. Lawrence BOSLEY, all of Springfield, and Mrs. Fred HAMILTON of Dayton.

Besides the daughter at whose home she died, she leaves a son, Daniel KELLY, of Springfield. He is survived by two brothers, William, of Springfield, and Thomas, of Columbus, and two sisters, Mary MOONEY, and Mrs. Charles SCHROUFE, both of Springfield. Funeral services were held on Monday at 9 a. m. in the St. Joseph church. Burial was made in St Patrick's cemetery at London.

A native of Germany, Mrs. BURKHARDT had been a local resident since 1880. She was the widow of John R. BURKHARDT, at one time a W. Main st. baker. Survivors are three daughters, Miss Kathryn K. BURKHARDT, Mrs. C. M. REIBOLD and Mrs. William W. KILE, all of Springfield, three sons, John R. and Juel A. both of Springfield, and Karl W. BURKHARDT of Newark, N. J., eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The body remains in the residence.

Fred W. MCDONALD, 56, of 640 E. Rose st., died Friday in an anbulance while on the way to the City Hospital. He collapsed while in the White Front Cafe, 205 W. main st., about 3 p.m. Friday. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Mr. MCDONALD was born in Springfield on Sept. 14 1884, the son of Wesley and Belle RICE MCDONALD, and had lived in this city practically all his life. For the past seven years he had been employed by the Crowell-Collier Publishing Co. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Belle MCDONALD, and a sister, Mrs. Flo FOLEY of Springfield, and a half-sister, Mrs. Bertha FOLEY of Texas. His wife, Ethel, died in Springfield on Feb. 4, 1939. Word of the death of Mrs. Frederick Gebhart GOTWALD, a former Springfield resident, in her home in York, Pa. Monday evening was received by Springfield friends Tuesday. Mrs. GOTWALD was the widow of Dr. Frederick Gebhart GOTWALD who served for seven or eight years as professor in the Hamma Divinity School here about 25 years ago. The couple moved to York from Springfield and Dr. GOTWALD who had been a member of the Board of Education of the United Lutheran Church in America there about 15 years ago. Mrs. GOTWALD leaves three children, Mrs. Mary SWARTWOUT of Hartdonfield, N.J. Dr. Luther GOTWALD, a missionary in India and David GOTWALD, a York, Pa. manufacturer. Funeral services were held in York Wednesday afternoon. Additional information: Her late husband, Dr. Frederick Gebhart GOTWALD, D.D., former Wittenberg Professor, founded the Fifth Lutheran Church in Springfield.

Retired Farmer Succumbs at Home of Daughter Theodore Martin ZIEGLER, 89, a retired farmer, died at 4:20 a. m. Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. Mac SEELY, National pk. west, near Donnelsville. He had been in failing health for four years. Mr. ZIEGLER was born in Newport, Pa., April 17, 1851, and had been a resident of Springfield and Clark County for the last 27 years. Previous to his retirement in 1913, he had been a farmer in Champaign County, O. He had always attended the Lutheran Church. Besides the daughter at whose home he died, he leaves another daughter, Mrs. Charles BAILEY of this city; one son , Glenn R. ZIEGLER of Wapakoneta, Route 2; one sister, Mrs. Frank COULSON of York Springs, Pa., three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The body was taken to the Jackson funeral home, and will be returned to the residence of Mrs. SEELY Thursday evening. Funeral services will be held at that residence at 2:30 p. m. Saturday, in charge of the Rev. Dr. E. Clyde Xander, pastor of the First Lutheran Church. Burial will be made in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Allan W. ILIFF, who for 40 years directed the choir at the Central Methodist Church, died at 1:05 p.m. Friday, at the age of 91 years, at his home, 138 E. Pleasant st. He had been in failing health for several years and seriously ill for one month. He was a member of the Central Church. For a number of years, he conducted a stand on the city market. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Jennie ILIFF; one daughter, Mrs. Grace GILLILAND of this city; five grand-children, Mrs. Helen BROOKS and Mrs. Bernice MITCHELL, both of Barberton. O., Mrs. Dorothy RICH of Glendale, Calif., Mrs. William Gilliland, jr., of Pasadena, Calif., and Robert GILLIAND, of Douglas, Ariz. He was born in Cedarville, O., on December, 17, 1850. The body is at the Littleton funeral home.

James THOMAS, 57, died Thursday at 3:35 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Minnie SCALES of 810 South Yellow Springs Street. Death followed an illness of six days. Born in Meadowville, VA., Mr. THOMAS had lived in Springfield 25 years. He had been employed by The Oliver Farm Equipment Co. since 1917. Mr. THOMAS was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth JAMES, Mrs. Margaret CHANNELS and Mrs. Mary EVANS, al of Springfield and Miss Helen THOMAS of Dayton, and a son, Alexander of Springfield. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Rites will be conducted b the Rev. Samuel A. Hall, church pastor. Burial will be made in Ferncliff Cemetery. The body was removed to the Patterson funeral home and will be returned to the residence at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Funeral services for Mrs Nora Seys GORMAN, 43, a former local resident, wife of EJB Gorman, president of Gorman, Inc. Dayton real estate and property management firm, will be held at 2 pm Saturday in the Woodland Cemetery Chapel in Dayton. Burial will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery, Dayton. Funeral services will be in charge of the Rev Phil Porter, rector of the Christ Episcopal Church in Dayton. Mrs Gorman died at 3 pm Thursday in a physicians office in Dayton. Death was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage. Mrs Gorman had lived in Dayton since her marriage Dec 3, 1935. She and Mr Gorman were married in Springfield by the Rev Dr Charles Ryan Adams, former pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Born Oct 13, 1897, the only daughter of the late Oliver H ANDERSON and Mrs Mary WOOD ANDERSON of Springfield. Mrs Gorman went to Springfield public schools. She attended Wittenberg College and later was graduated from Hollins College, Roanoke, VA. Since moving to Dayton, Mrs Gorman had taken an active part in cultural and welfare endeavors there. Mrs Gorman was a former director of the Dayton Visiting Nurses Association and a director of the Dayton Maternal Health Association. Mrs Gorman also was a member of Christ Episcopal Chruch, Dayton; the Miami Vally Hunt and Polo Club, Dayton, and the Springfield Country Club of Springfield. The husband and the mother are the only immediate survivors.

Funeral services for Mrs Anne FICKELL, 26, of 1301 W Main St, who died at 10:15 pm Thursday at the City Hospital, will be held at 9 am Monday at the Huhn Murphy Funeral home in Cambridge, OH where the body was sent Friday from the Jackson Funeral Home in this city. Burial will be made in Cambridge, O. Mrs Fickell was critically injured Thursday at 9:30 am in a two car collision near Springfield.. Her death followed the arrival of her husband, Kenneth C, a driver for The All American Bus Lines, Inc who came from Columbus by police cruiser and private automobile to be at his wife's bedside. Mrs Fickell died as City Hospital attaches were attemptin to find a blood donor whose type of blood would match that of the injured woman for a transfusion. Several Wittenberg College students and drivers of The Kenosha Auto Transport Co had volunteered to donate blood but their types failed to match. Hospital attaches then located a professional donor with the correct type but as the donor arrived at the hospital, Mrs Fickell died. Fickell in his race to reach his wife was transported from Columbus to near West Jefferson in a Columbus police cruiser. He was met there by an official of his company who brought him to the local hospital. The driver, who was on a run between Pittsburg, PA, and Springfield when his wife was injured, was not notified of the accident until he reached Columbus. Mrs Fickell sustained fractures of the spine, pelvis, and right ribs in the accident which occurred about nine miles east of Springfield on Route 40. Two other persons also were injured. They were: Miss Bernadine GILCHER, 23, of 220 W Columbia St, driver of the machine in which Mrs Fickell was a passenger, and Orville SMITH, 52, of Springfield, Route 5, operator of the other car. Miss Gilcher suffered rib fractures. Smith sustained facial lacerations. State patrolmen reported the accident occurred when the car driven by Miss Gilcher skidded into the path of Smiths machine. Mrs Fickell was born in Cambridge, O, July 28, 1914. She had lived in Springfield since September. Besides her husband, Mrs Fickell is survived by her parents, Mr and Mrs John SMITH Sr of Cambridge, three sisters, Miss Victorine SMITH of Cambridge, Miss Mary SMITH of Chicago, IL, and Miss Magdalene SMITH, a nurse in a Catholic hospital in Zanesville, and five brothers, John Jr, Peter and Andrew, all of Cambridge, Joe, a student at Bowling Green University, Bowling Green, O, and Frank of Chicago.

Mrs Elva GROVES, 80, died Thursday about 2 am in the Ohio Masonic Home. The body was removed to the Richards funeral home and Thursday night was sent to the H.J. Uhrich funeral home, Urichsville, Oh, for funeral and burial. She was born June 19, 1860 at St Clairsville, OH and had been a resident of the home since April, 1940, having been admitted from Mystic Tie Lodge, No 194, Free and Accepted Masons of Uhrichsville, O. She leaves no survivors.

Henry D. LONG , 85, died at 4 a.m. Wednesday at his home in Enon. Born in Lancaster County, Pa., June 24, 1855, he came to Ohio in 1861 with his parents and four brothers and settled on a farm two miles west of Enon. He remained on the farm until 1914 when he moved to Enon. He was a member of Clark Lodge No. 101, F & A. M., receiving his 50th year gold medal in 1932. He also was a charter member of Mad River Knights of Pythias, serving as a trustee for a number of years. His wife, the former Emma HELMER, of Fairfield, O., preceded him in death in March 1928. Mr. LONG leaves four daughters, Mrs. Grace SMITH, living at home; Mrs. Hazel HART and Mrs. Susie ROBINSON, both of Springfield, and Mrs. Florence SWANEY, of Toledo; five grandchildren; one great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was removed to the Boehringer and Shafer funeral home.
