Mrs. Mary M. JUNG, 45, of 515 Dorchester Drive died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday in Mercy Hospital following a brief illness. She was a daughter of Fred L. and Lillian (OSTERMAN) McCLEAN and was born in Springfield on January 3, 1915. Mrs. JUNG was a lifelong resident of the city. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of that parish. Mrs. JUNG was a member of Council No. 56, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, and the Child Conservation League. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1933. Survivors include her husband, Jerome H.; two sons, Jerome P. and Thomas Frederick; two daughters, Parry Ann and Mary Catherine, all at home; seven brothers, John McCLEAN, Fred, William, Robert, Frank and Joseph, all of Springfield and Edward of Dayton; two sisters, Mrs. Roselyn KEIFER of St. Mary's and Mrs. Florence GIBSON of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. Her body was taken to the O'Brien-Kenney Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m. Monday. Requiem Mass will be sung at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Branch 56, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, of St. Joseph, will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home for services.

Mr Schaefer, a member of Fifth Lutheran Church, was a retired grocer. He resided in Springfield most of his life. He was born Sept 1, 1883 in Miami, County, the son of Michael and Anna (BOYER) SCHAEFER. His wife, Glenna, died Jan 15. Pg. 1. Dr. R. J. WREN Dies at 79; Retired in '52. Following a length illness, Dr. Raphael J. WREN died this morning at his home, 14 State St. Dr. WREN, who had not practiced since June, 1952, was, prior to that date, one of the best known active physicians and surgeons in Ossining. Medical circle linked Dr.. WREN and Dr. Charles C. SWEET as the community's two leading surgeons. Dr. WREN was born Oct. 9, 1880 in Springfield, Ohio, a son of the late Edward and Margaret KINNANE WREN. He was a graduate of the Medical College of New York University and following his graduation, practiced in New York City for about two years before moving to Ossining to open a general practice. Dr. WREN was married Oct. 16, 1912, to Miss Clara SHOEMAKER of Ossining. A former member of the Board of Water Commissioners, Dr. WREN also belonged to a number of professional organizations. In 1941, he suffered a heart attack, but after his recovery resumed the practice of medicine which he continued until 1952. At that time, Dr. WREN suffered a stroke and in June of that year retired from practice. His son, Dr. Robert S. WREN, took over the care of some of his patients, but did not in fact, take over his father's entire practice since he (young Dr. WREN) was specializing as a surgeon. Dr. WREN is survived by his wife, and son, together with a daughter, Mrs. Gretta STEWART, six grandchildren, and two brothers, Christopher WREN of New York City and Thomas WREN of Dayton, Ohio. Funeral arrangements, under the direction of the Leach and Thomas Funeral Home, 32 State St., have not been completed.

Last rites for Earl J. PURNEY, 70, of Lambertville, Mich., were held in the Farnham Mortuary, Temperance, Mich., at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial was in the Vannocken Cemetery, Whiteford Township, Mich. Mr. PURNEY died Sunday in the Ypsilanti, (Mich.) Hospital. Surviving are his father, Peter of the Knights of Pythias Home in Springfield and a brother, Ray of Toledo.

Warren E. MCKEEVER, 77, of 123 E. Cecil st., operator of the MCKEEVER real estate agency from 1927 until his retirement five years ago, died at 4:20 p.m. Monday in a local nursing home. Mr. MCKEEVER had been in failing health for three months but his illness became serious only two days ago. He was born in Champaign County, Nov. 4, 1882, a son of Richard and Catherine CROSSON MCKEEVER. Most of his life was spent in Springfield. He was a member of St. Anthony Lodge 455, F. and A.M. Survivors include three sons, Orville E., Virgil A. and Roger W., all of Springfield; a daughter, Mrs. Paul WEIKERT of Philadelphia; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His wife, Carrie, died in 1944. Mr. MCKEEVER'S body was taken to the Littleton funeral home where services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Roland G. Carter officiating. Henry A. Nicklas, 69, of 306 Roosevelt dr., died unexpectedly in his residence at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Nicklas, a resident of Springfield all his life, was born her Oct. 4, 1890, the son of Adam and Elizabeth Nicklas. He had worked as a machinist in the maintenance department of the Crowell-Collier Publishing Co. He was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a member of the H. S. Kissell Lodge 674, Free and Accepted Masons; and the Khana Shahar Grotto. Mr. Nicklas was the director of the Springfield Fire Division Drum and Bugle Corps, which was disbanded some years ago. Survivors are his widow, Emma; three daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Clements, Mrs. Leah Bishop and Mrs. Olive Smoot; one brother, Oliver; and seven grandchildren. His body was taken to the Littleton funeral home for services there at 3 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. A. L. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Percy H. BADER, 64, of 1409 St. Paris pk., a veteran of World War I and one of the "musical Baders," died at 12:20 p.m. in Mercy Hospital. He was taken to the hospital after receiving aid from the Fire Division emergency squad shortly after 10 a.m. A resident of Springfield 43 years, Mr. BADER formerly had been employed by Paul's Cigarette and Tobacco Co. He had been ill three years. The BADER family moved to Springfield from Lebanon, Indiana in 1917, and at the time, the parents and 8 children made up a band of their own, Percy playing trumpet. Two brothers, Russell and Lewis, later played with circus bands. Percy Bader served in the Army during World War I, and saw action in the Battles of Marne, St. Miheil and Meuse-Argonne. He was felled by poison gas during his last campaign. He was a member of the Clifton Avenue Methodist Church, the American Legion, 40 et 8 Society and the Local Rainbow Division Club. Mr. BADER was born in Williamsport, Indiana, February 22, 1896, a son of John and Belle Thompson BADER. Surviving besides his widow, Bessie R., are a son, Kenneth, of Dayton; two sisters, Mrs. Glen LEICHNER of Columbus and Mrs. James FENNESSY of Springfield; three brothers, Russell and Lewis of Springfield, and John of Detroit, and two grandchildren. His body was taken to the Littleton Funeral Home for services at 3 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Robert L. KLAUSMEIER, pastor of the Clifton Avenue Methodist Church. The local Rainbow Division Club will hold a flag service at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Mr. Evans, who lived at 1?67 E. High st. would have celebrated his 76th birthday anniversary Wednesday. He had been associated with the company since 1934, starting in the sales department of the sign division. He had headed the purchasing department for the past 24 years. Before joining the Ohio Thermometer Co. he was assistant manager of the McSavaney Co. for nine years and prior to that the Elwood Myers Co. Mr. Evans had been an active member of the Springfield Purchasing Agents Association for many years and was a member of the National Association of Purchasing Agents. He also was a member of H. S. Kissell Lodge No. 674, F. and A.M. A native of Madison County, where he was born April 6, 1884, he taught school as a young man in several Madison County schools. He was the son of John and Effie PRUGH EVANS. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Donna SWARTZ of Akron; two brothers, Clay EVANS of Springfield and Clare Evans of Kingston, N.Y.; three nieces and a nephew. Mr. Evans� body was taken to the Richards Memorial Home.

Xenia - Lauris D. Glass, 53, postmaster of Alpha and operator of the J. F. Glass Grocery there for many years, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at the store Tuesday morning. He had undergone treatment for a heart ailment for several years. A native of Jeffersonville, he was a former professional baseball player and also played amateur baseball with Dayton teams in the early 1930s. Mr. GLASS had operated the grocery and Post Office since the death of his father in 1947. Survivors include his widow, Hilda; his mother, Mrs. J. F. GLASS of Alpha; a daughter, Miss Lynn Ellen GLASS, a freshman at Miami University, Oxford; a son, Larry GLASS, of Columbus Grove; one sister, Mrs. Erma HUBBELL of Alpha, and a brother, Harold J. Edward Charles HILKER, 72, of 1212 N. Harbor dr., Yacht harbor Estates, Riviera Beach, Fla., died Saturday in his home there. Mr. HILKER was a former Springfield resident and was the brother of Frank HILKER of Springfield. Mr. HILDER, a heating and plumbing contractor, was president of E. C. Hilker, Inc. He moved to Florida from Springfield 45 years ago and was a member of the Biscayne Bay Lodge No. 75, F. and A.M. of Miami, Scottish Rite bodies of lake Worth, Mahi Shrine Temple of Miami and Palm Beach County Shrine Club. Besides his brother, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Flossie M. HILKER of Riviera Beach; two sons, Robert C. and Stanley E., both of West Palm Beach; another brother Albert HILKER of Dayton and five grandchildren.

Nicholas Kerns WEIGEL, 79, of Union Port, O., a native of Springfield died early Thursday in Cambridge Hospital, Cambridge, O. Mr. WEIGEL was born March 10, 1881, in Springfield, the son of Frank and Elizabeth WOLFE WEIGEL. He was an employee of the Ohio Edison Co. for about 20 years and attended Pleasant Hill Methodist Church near New Moorefield. He moved away from Springfield about 38 years ago. Survivors include his widow Anna; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth E. SESSIAR of Springfield, and Mrs. Katherine APPLEGATE and Mrs. Ida THOMAS, both of Dayton; a son, Roger WEIGEL of Steubenville; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Sunday. Mr. RIFE died at 8 a.m. Saturday in his residence, 514 N. Wittenberg Avenue, after a lengthy illness. A native Springfielder, he was born November 5, 1921, the son of Statton and Nettie PAYNE RIFE, and lived here all his life. A veteran of World War II, he was employed by the Rawac Plating Co. Survivors include three sons, Bernard, Clarence and Millard RIFE of Springfield; a daughter Miss Karen Sue RIFE of Kokomo, Inc.; his mother; five brothers, Charles, Clarence, Robert, Marvin and Arthur RIFE, all of Springfield; four sisters, Mrs. Melvina GUISINGER, Mrs. Bessie MCCORMICK and Mrs. Ruth HENSLEE all of Springfield, and Mrs. Leighfee LITTON of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Nellie M. DIGAN, 71, of 1611 Victory Drive, died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday in Mercy Hospital, one hour after her admittance there. She was born October 1, 1888, in Springfield, the daughter of James and Abigail CALLAGHAN DOOLAN, and lived here al her life. With her husband, Sylvester, who died in 1930, she had operated a dry cleaning business here many years. The business, which was discontinued in 1940, was known as "Digan Dry Cleaners." Mrs. DIGAN was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia 59, and Msgr. Buckley Guild of Mercy Hospital. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Jean COONEY, Springfield; one son, Thomas J. DIGAN, Dayton; one brother, Ray DOOLAN, Springfield; one sister, Mrs. Margaret MCBEE, Springfield; eight grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Page 6. Earl Ellsworth GENTIS, 80, a resident of the Earle Hotel, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday in Mercy Hospital following several years of failing health. He had been a patient in the hospital since Saturday. Mr Gentis was an employee of the Buffalo-Springfield Co for 37 years prior to his retirement in 1957. He was born Nov 12, 1879 in Champaign County, the son of David and Jenny (WOLFE) GENTIS and had resided in Springfield 60 years. There are no known immediate survivors. His body was taken to the Jackson Lytle funeral home.

He was employed at the old Springfield Confectionery for many years and more recently had worked for the Ohio Welding Co., from which he retired in 1956. He was a member of St. Raphael's Church. He is survived by one son, John P. VOLLMER, Jr., of Springfield; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Jane LUCAS of Springfield and Mrs. Marie LEFFEL of South Vienna; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His body was taken to the Conroy funeral home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday. A requiem high mass will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Raphael's Church. Mrs. Mary GOTWALD PONTIUS, former Springfielder and widow of Hubert C.PONTIUS, lawyer and jurist of Canton, O., died Saturday morning in her home, 806 12 st., northwest, Canton, at the age of 80 years. In 1946 Mrs. PONTIUS suffered a heart attack from which she had only partially recovered. She was confined to her home where she has since been visited by her many friends and relatives. Mrs. PONTIUS was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. L. A. GOTWALD of Springfield. She was born August 2nd, 1879 in York, Pa., where her father was the pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She attended the Springfield Public Schools, the Wittenberg Academy, and was graduated from Wittenberg College in 1899. In 1904, she married Mr. PONTIUS and moved to Canton. At her death, Mrs. PONTIUS was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Canton. Services are being arranged with interment in Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. G. M. CUMMINGS, Cleveland and the following relatives in Springfield: Mrs. Mary GOTWALD YOUNG, a niece; John L. GOTWALD, a nephew; Dr. R. G. REMSBERG, a grand nephew, and numerous nieces and nephews in other cities.

Lisa Ann PULVER, six-week-old daughter of Joyce ROGERS PULVER and Carl R. PULVER, Jr., 531 1/2 East st., died unexpectedly at her home about 8:30 a.m. Saturday. The baby reportedly had never been sick. Its crying about 7 a.m. Saturday awakened its mother, who attended it and the child apparently went back to sleep. When Mrs. PULVER awakened a little later, she found her baby lifeless. An autopsy will be performed Monday to determine the cause of the Infant's death. Born May 30 in Mercy Hospital, the child, besides it parents, by two brothers, Carl, III, and Eric Anthony, both at home; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley ROGERS, and t he20 paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl R. PULVER, Sr., all of Springfield. The body was taken to the O'Brien-Kenney funeral home.....may call from noon Monday. Claude F. RICE, 86 of Springfield, Route 5, died at 9:01 a.m. Saturday in his home. He was born May 26, 1874 in Clark County, the son of William and Matilda GOWDY RICE, and lived in the county all his life. A retired farmer, he held membership in the pleasant Grove Baptist Church and Rising Star Council, Junior Order United American Mechanics. Survivors include his widow, Autice; one son, Fremont, at home and several nieces and nephews. His body was taken to the Ingling funeral home, South Charleston, where friends may call until time of services there at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Rising Star Council will hold services 8 p .m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Joseph WINGLEWICH, 94, a resident of the Knights of Pythias Home, died there at 6:15 p.m. Saturday. He was born Feb. 17, 1866, in Poland and became a naturalized U. S. citizen in 1887. A retired farmer, he entered the K. of P. Home with his wife, Viola, in April 1951, sponsored by Lafayette Lodge 37, K. or P., Middletown, O. His wife died in the home in 1952. His body was taken to the Richards Memorial Home and will be returned to the K. or P. Home for services at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. There are no known immediate survivors.

The girl, who was to be a senior in high school this autumn was admitted to Mercy Hospital Wednesday night and died there at 2 p.m. Friday. Her body was taken to the Robert C.
