INJURIES ARE FATAL Farmer Falls Off Hay Wagon Funeral is Saturday New Carlisle Sept. 13. -- Cory CLINGAN, 41, residing near here, died of injuries sustained late Wednesday afternoon while loading hay. CLINGAN was on a hay wagon and had pulled on the trip rope of the hay fork. The rope broke and CLINGAN fell off the wagon backwards, striking head on the wagon wheel. He is survived by the widow, two sons, and three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd STONE, Springfield; Mrs. Charles WELTY, St. Paris, and Mrs. William HARTLEY of New Carlisle. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at McKendre Church with burial in the New Carlisle cemetery.

Bring Body Of Auto Victim To Springfield Brother of Judge GEIGER to be Buried from Home of Sister The body of Charles A. GEIGER, 69, former Springfield manufacturer and brother of Judge Frank W. GEIGER of this city, who died at 2 p.m. Sunday in Mansfield, O., from injuries sustained when struck by an automobile a hour previously, will arrive in Springfield late Monday or Tuesday. It will be taken to the home of his sister, Miss Alice GEIGER, 469 Woodlawn av. Mr. GEIGER was visiting his son, Tracy GEIGER, in Mansfield when the accident occurred. he will be remembered by the older residents of Springfield as one of the city's most prominent business men at the time when he lived here. He was born in Springfield and received his education in the schools here. He was a graduate of Wittenberg College with the class of 1879. Following his graduation from college Mr. GEIGER entered the industrial world and became a member of the firm operating the Springfield Machine Co. In 1893 he went to Troy, O., where he organized the Troy Wagon Works of which he was president and general manager. He remained in Troy until the World War when he went to new York and later to England in the interest of his firm which was supplying wartime materials to the United States and Great Britian. After the war he returned to new York where he established a Charles A. GEIGER Co., importers and exporters and represented the American manufactories in foreign trade. Mr. GEIGER leaves his widow, Mrs. Frances GEIGER; two sons, Russell and Tracy; three daughters, Rose of Troy; Mrs. Benjamin WORRELL and Mrs. Kenneth WILLIAMSON of West Palm Beach, Fla; three sisters, Miss Alice GEIGER and Miss Ella GEIGER and Mrs. A.D.HOSTERMAN, of this city; and two brothers, Judge Frank W. Burnett, 82, former city mayor, Civil War veteran and for many years commandant of the Soldier's Home at Sandusky, O., who died at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Arcade Hotel, where he had been residing, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jackson funeral home. Burial will be made in Ferncliff cemetery. Announcement Friday of General Burnett's death which occurred Thursday evening after six months of failing health, although not unexpected, brought sincere sorow to hundreds of people of Springfield and elsewhere who were numbered among his friends and by whom he was affectionally termed "Uncle Bill". He possessed a keen insight of affairs and was noted for his kindness to friends and anyone in need. General Burnett was able to be about the streets until six weeks ago, and since then had been ill in bed. The last several days before his death he lay in a state of unconsciousness from which he did not rally. He was born in Clark County Aug. 17, 1846, the son of John and Mary Jones Burnett. Practically all his life had been spent in Springfield and he had played a large part in the progress and growth of the city. He represented one of the oldest families of Clark County and termed self-made man. He attended the Western School until the age of 14 when he began to work and through his ability and ambition succeeded in attaining recognition in life. Mr. Burnett was always active in politics of the city and county, and was three times elected mayor of Springfield on the Democratic ticket before the city adopted the city commission form of government. He retired from political life when he went to Sandusky, but he always kept up his sincere interest in civic affairs and the familiar name of "Mayor" Burnett remained with him for years. Following his resignation as mayor in 1909, he served for 12 years as commandant of the Soldiers' Home in Sandusky, O., where he was lauded for his management of the institution and was loved by all Civil War veterans at the home. The 900 residents of the home were always known as his "boys". Upon their return to Springfield, Mr. Burnett and his wife, who was formerly Mary Catherine Monohan , whom he married Oct. 19, 1865, resided at 215 S. Columbia st. Since the death of Mrs. Burnett, Mr. Burnett had spent most of his time at the Arcade hotel and with his son Levi Burnett in Pittsburgh, Pa. General Burnett enlisted as a Union soldier in the Civil War, July 3, 1863, in Company A of the Fourth Independent Battalion of Cavalry. He served nine months in Tennessee until honorably discharged Feb. 16, 1864. Upon his return from the army he took up work as a machinist in the old Champion shops and was associated with that firm for 21 years. After this connection was given up, he was employed by the Union Central Life Insurance Co. of Cincinnati for one year, after which he engaged in the grocery business at 60 E. Main st. After selling this business he managed the Springfield Breweries until 1900. Besides serving the city so honorably and faithfully as its mayor, Mr. Burnett held many other public offices. Among them were six years as a member of the school board; four years representing the first ward on the City Council; four years on the board of public service and four years on the police and fire board. For another four years he was government gauger at the William Burns Distillery. Mr. Burnett was affiliated with Clark Lodge No 101. F. and A. M.; Springfield Lodge No 33, I. O. O. F.; Division No 44, Unifomed and Lodge No 51, Benevolent and Protected Orrder of Elks and Mitchell Post, Grand Army of the Republic. He was also a member of the Lutheran Church. Two sons survive him, Theodore Addison Burnett, a veterinary of Columbus, and Levi H. Burnett of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Mrs. Lydia WONES, 62, of New Moorefield , who died at her home at 4:30 p.m. Friday as the result of a paralytic stroke Thursday, will be held at the residence at 2 p.m. Monday. Rev. J. T. Carter, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church at LaRue, O., will officiate. Burial will be made in Pleasant Hill cemetery at new Moorefield. Mrs. WONES is survived by her husband, Frank Wones; three sons, Wilbur, Oliver and Rev. Edward WONES of New Moorefield; a sister, Mrs. Mary WILLIAMS of Cable, O.; and two brothers, Edward TEETERS of Mechanicsburg and Mird TEETERS of Clifton. Mrs. WONES was born Oct. 12, 1866 in Pike County, O., and had lived in New Moorefield for the last 30 years. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and active in the Church Ladies (A--) Society.

Mrs Elizabeth FLAGO, 81, died at 7 pm Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs Henry SCHELL, in Orange, NJ. Mrs Flago had been ill for three months with heart disease. She was visiting with her daughter when stricken. Mrs Flago was born in Springfield and spent practically all her life in this city. She is the widow of the late T.B. Flago of Springfield. She is one of the last surviving charter members of St Paul ME Church. The body will be brought to Springfield Sunday to the home of Mrs. Flago's sister, Mrs James MECHLIN, 18 W Clark St. Surviving are a daughter Mrs SCHELL; a sister, Mrs MECHLIN, and a brother OH ANDERSON of Springfield. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday at St Paul ME Church. Burial will be made in Ferncliff Cemetery.

YOUNG, 68, will know local woman, who died suddenly at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday at her home, 407 W. Pleasant st., will be held Friday at the Second Lutheran Church. Burial will be made in Ferncliff cemetery. Mrs. YOUNG had been in apparent good health and her death will come as a shock to her many friends in Springfield. Death resulted by heart disease, with which she was stricken only 15 minutes before she died. She had gained the esteem of many persons in the city and was know prominently through her extensive work in the Second Lutheran Church, of which she was a member for years. She was one of the charter members of the Ladies Union Mite Society. Born in Charleston, Ill., Mrs. YOUNG lived there the early part of her life, coming to Springfield 45 years ago. In recent years she had been employed at Butler's in Myers Market. She was the widow of Luke YOUNG. Surviving her are three children, Frank YOUNG of Bellefontaine; Mrs. Bertsyl W. FARIS and Mrs. Ray BYERMAN, both of Springfield; two sisters, Mr. S. M. WHEAT and Miss Ollie STRICKLAND of For Worth, Tex.; one brother, Charles STRICKLAND of Terre Haute, Ind.; and nine grandchildren. Her husband had preceded her in death 20 years ago.

Nicholas GRAF, 71, a resident of Springfield for many years, died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday at his home, 1625 Highland av., of heart disease. He had been ill for the last six years. Mr. GRAF was born in Cincinnati, where he spent the first half of his life. He came to Springfield 36 years ago and had lived here ever since. He was a furniture upholsterer by trade, and had been employed in the furniture department of The Edward Wren Co. Store for approximately 20 years. He was a member of Bushnell Council, No. 163, Jr. O. U.A. M., Wren's Mutual Aid Society. He was also affiliated with the St. John's Evangelical Church. His only surviving relatives are his widow, Mrs. Rose GRAF; and two brothers, John and Joseph, both of Cincinnati. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the residence, with Rev. Paul Pfeiffer, pastor of St. John's Church, officiating. Burial will be made in Cincinnati.

Mr. FOLEY was well known in Springfield through his association with the retail drug business, in which he had been engaged for the last 35 years. His large circle of friends and acquaintances will be shocked to learn of his sudden death. Master Barber Died at Home
John P. Spang Succumbs at Residence to Heart Attack. As a result of a heart attack sustained Thanksgiving afternoon, John P. (Jack) Spang, 52, proprietor of the Shawnee Barber Shop, died at 4:15 p.m. Sunday at his home, 457 E. Cecil St. Mr. Spang was born in Germany and came to America at the age of five with his parents. Shortly afterwards they came to Springfield and he had lived her since. Ever since the opening of the Hotel Shawnee he had conducted the hotel barber shop. Prior to that time he was engaged as a barber in the Arcade Hotel Barber Shop. Through his wide business experience with the public of Springfield, he had a large number of friends and acquaintances. Mr. Spang was a member of the St. Raphael Church and the Holy Name Society of the Church. He was affiliated with the Knights of Columbus, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Barber's Union. Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. Ray Gaier and Miss Gretta Spang, both of the city; two sons, Fred and Jack Spang, jr., of Springfield; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Crupp (should be Krupp) and Mrs. Mary Hornberger; and two brothers, Joe Spang of Springfield and Louis Spang of Dayton.

Death Takes Merchant and Civic Leader ; Henry C WISEMAN, 74, Succumbs to Illness from Pneumonia. ; Success Made in Hardware Business ; Springfield Man Active in Philanthropic and Church Work. Henry C WISEMAN, 74, of 501 N Fountain av, one of Springfield's pioneer merchants and leader in business and civic affairs, died at 10:15 pm Wednesday at the City Hospital. Death followed a two-day illness with pneumonia, which developed following an accident Saturday night when Mr WISEMAN was struck by an automobile at the corner of N Limestone st and Stanton av, when he was taking his nightly walk following dinner. He was taken to the City Hospital after the accident, where it was found he was suffering from a fractured left arm, leg and four ribs. His condition was not considered critical and he was believed on the road to recovery when pneumonia developed. Owing to his weakened condition he was unable to resist the disease. Announcement Thursday morning that Mr WISEMAN had passed away Wednesday night brought shock and sincere sorrow to all in Springfield who knew him and esteemed him because of a life that was worthy to the community and true to the persons who were his friends. He was born Sept 12, 1854, in Lancaster O where he spent the early years of his life. He came to Springfield as a young man and had lived here ever since In 1885 he became a partner in The Janney and Wiseman Hardware C, of (Continued on Page 18 Column 2) which Mr JANNEY was president. Mr WISEMAN Later was named for the presidency and in 1890 the firm was incorporated as The Springfield Hardware Co of which he was still owner and president at the time of his death. Mr WISEMAN was always an ardent civic leader as well as a leading business man. He was one the founders of the Ohio Retail Hardware Dealers Association, and was its first president. He was also instrumental in organizing The Ohio Hardware Dealers Mutual Insurance Co, of which he had been a director ever since its organization. He was largely responsible for its growth from a small organization to a million dollar firm. He was also an active member of the Purchasing Agents Association of Springfield and an active worker in organizing the Springfield Builders Exchange. Mr WISEMAN, among other public services, was a director of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce, a director of the Morris Plan Bank and was identified with the Springfield Rotary Club. Among his social and fraternal affiliations was the Springfield Country Club and Anthony Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons. He was for many years a member of the High Street Methodist Episcopal Church and for a number of years served as a trustee of the church. His philanthropic interest were numerous and he was always among the first and the largest contributors to any civic of charity fund solicited in the city. Among his most enthusiastic interests in this line were his church and the Springfield Community Fund. Surviving Mr WISEMAN are his widow, Mrs Mary C WISEMAN, to whom he was married in 1888 in Springfield; two sons, Mark and Robert WISEMAN of New York City; a brother, Charles WISEMAN of Lancaster, O; three sisters, Mrs F C WHILEY and Mrs Joshua CLARK of Lancaster and Mrs Charles WILLIAMSON of Miami, Fla. He also leaves three grandchildren, Mary, Ann and Peter WISEMAN of New York City. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Friday at his late residence, and burial will be made in Ferncliff cemetery. Rev. E H Roberts pastor of the High Street M E Church, will officiate. Friends are asked to please omit flowers. Thomas J O'LAUGHLIN, treasurer of the Springfield Hardware Association, who has been closely associated with Mr WISEMAN for many years, said Thursday in tribute to him : "Mr WISEMAN was not only a good business man but had a heart that loved and has never been known to do a dishonorable act in business. Enough cannot be said of the regard of his employes for him."

Fountain av., where she and her son Lewis MCKEEVER, had been rooming for the last seven years. She was found dead in her bed by another roomer, E. R. POMMELL, who investigaged after receiving no answer when he knocked at her door to inquire about her son, who was ill with influenza. The cause of her death was a acute heart attack, according to Coroner Theodore F. Schaefer, who was called to investigate the death. She is survived by a son, Lewis MCKEEVER; her mother, Hannah BAKER of Lawrenceville; six brothers, Walter, Elmer, Harry and Clinton BAKER of Lawrenceville, Lee BAKER of Medway, Jess BAKER of Yellow Springs,; and a sister, Mrs. Cora RUST, of Lawrenceville.
