Mrs. Myrtle May GRIFFITH, 75, a resident of the Knights of Pythias Home here for the past two months, died there at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday following a lengthy illness. She was a native of Springfield, the widow of Carey GRIFFITH who died in 1953. She was the daughter of Curtis and Carrie LEHMAN BOTKIN and was born Oct. 6, 1882. For the past 30 years she had been a member of the Second Lutheran Church. Survivors include a sister Mrs. Raymond CLICK of Springfield, Route 2; a brother, Harold C. BOTKIN of San Antonio, Tex., and one niece and a nephew. She entered the Home here sponsored by Ingomar Lodge No. 610, Knights of Pythias. Her body was taken to the Littleton funeral home where friends may call beginning Thursday evening. The Rev. Maynard Stull, pastor of Second Lutheran Church, will conduct services in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Eugene FULLER, 32, of 648 West Pleasant, a former city policeman, died at 6 p.m. Friday in a Columbus hospital following an illness of approximately six months. He joined the Police Division in 1953 and resigned for health reasons last June. Mr. Fuller attended Catholic Central High School and was a veteran of World War II and was recalled to service during the Korean conflict. He served in the Navy. He was a member of St. Mary Church, here and was a native of Springfield, born March 3, 1925. Survivors include his widow, Juanita; two daughters, Louita and Bennita Fuller; two brothers, Benjamin F. and Joseph Fuller; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Webster, all of Springfield, and his mother, Mrs. V. J. Feth of Columbus. In addition there are several nieces and nephews. His body was taken to the John J. Conroy funeral home.

Mr. Botkin was an employe of both the John Maxwell Construction Co. as a carpenter and Clark Central Laboratory as a dental technician. He attended Clifton Avenue Methodist Church. A lifelong resident of Springfield, he was born Oct. 26, 1926. Surviving is his mother, Dorothy I. BOTKIN. His body was taken to the Littleton funeral home where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert L. Klausmeier, pastor of Clifton Avenue Methodist Church. Malcolm D. MIRANDA. New Carlisle - Malcolm D. MIRANDA, 87, of Columbus, a former resident here and retired pharmacist, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday in his Columbus home. He had been ill three days. Mr. MIRANDA had operated the Corner Drug Store in New Carlisle for a number of years and went to Columbus in 1924 where he owned and operated other stores. He retired about 10 years ago. A native of North Hampton, he was born Oct. 12, 1870, a son of Thomas and Lucinda MOUK MIRANDA. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Dorothy MIRANDA of Columbus; three grandchildren, Mrs. Cecil ALLF of Amarillo, Tex., Jane MIRANDA of Columbus and Douglas MIRANDA of 1770 Wittenberg blvd., W., Springfield, and two great grandchildren. His body was brought here to the Doom Memorial Home where last rites have been set for 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. David Harper, pastor of First Methodist Church here, will officiate. The body of Carl W. DAVIDSON, 57, of Oakland, Calif., formerly of Springfield, will be brought to the Richards Memorial Home here. Mr. DAVIDSON died Friday in Oakland Hospital shortly after admittance. A son of Harry C. and Sadie m. MYERS DAVIDSON, he was born March 2, 1900, in Springfield. He had resided in Oakland for the past 30 years and was employed with a newspaper there. He was a Navy veteran of World War I and served aboard the battleship USS Texas. After the war he was employed for a time by The Springfield Daily News and Sun. Survivors include his mother; two sisters, Mrs. Edna SASSER and Mrs. Doris FOULKE; and three brothers, Harry, Walter and Robert, all of Springfield.

Albert H. CARR, 57, of 2636 East High Street, died suddenly in Newark about 2:30 p.m. Sunday while en route to visit his sister and family Dr. and Mrs. W. C. ROCHE of Gnadenhutten. A son of Aquilla and Lucy KIRK CARR, he was born April 16, 1900, at South Charleston. He had been a Springfield resident for the past 35 years and was a retired salesman for the Midland Grocery Co. He attended the high Street Methodist Church and was a member of the United Commercial Travelers. Survivors include his widow, Ruth H.; his mother, Mrs. A. C. CARR of South Charleston; a brother, Leon of South Charleston; two sisters, Mrs. W.C. (Bernice) ROCHE and Mrs. Fred (Jane) PARKER; several nieces and nephews and two great nieces. His body was taken to the Littleton funeral home where friends may call after 7 p.m. Monday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Joseph McGILL, 69, of 120 1/2 E. Pleasant st., died at 9:20 a.m. Monday in City Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital on Jan. ll. He was born May 14, 1888, in Champaign County, the son of William and Harriet McGILL. He was formerly a clerk at the Rogers Hotel but retired four years ago. Mr. McGILL has been ill for three years and seriously ill for more than a week. Survivors include two brothers, Richard of Wauconda, Ill., and Walter of Sarasota, Fla. The body was taken to Littleton's funeral home.

Oliver C. DOWNING, 67, of 732 Court st., died Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the Veterans Hospital, Dayton, after several months of failing health. He was admitted as a patient two weeks ago. Born July 17, 1890, in Bellefontaine, he was the son of Oliver and Thurza BARCAFAR DOWNING. He was employed as a mail carrier for more than 30 years, and retired from civil service in September, 1952. A veteran of World War I, he served in Europe with the 308th Engineer Battalion. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ. Survivors include his widow, Mary E.: a step-daughter, Mrs. E. T. SCHEUERMANN of Dayton, and uncle, Jess BARCAFAR of Springfield and a niece, Mrs. George WISLER, also of Springfield. Mrs. MALONE also was leader of Girl Scout Troop No. 151 of St. Joseph parish. Survivors include her husband, Charles J.; two daughters, Mary Ellen and Patricia Jean; her mother, a sister, Mrs. Jean COONEY, all of Springfield; a brother, Thomas DIGAN of Dayton; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Estella B. Doughman, 72, of 1719 Maiden Lane, mother of Luther B. Doughman who retired Monday as inspector in the Springfield Police Division, died at 10:05 p.m. Monday in Mercy Hospital. Her death followed an extended illness, although her condition had been critical only the last 10 days. A member of the First Church of God, Mrs. Doughman was a native of Illinois. She was born Oct. 6, 1885, a daughter of Charles and Martha Argabright Nawman. Surviving besides Mrs. Doughman's husband Clifford, and son, Luther, are two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Sellers of Stanwood, Mich., and Mrs. Verda Pence of St. Paris; a brother, Rollie Nawman of Oakland, Calif., nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. His death followed a heart attack. BALLENTINE was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, who died last November and his sister, Mrs. Rosie BAKER, who died last week. He was born July 7, 1873, a son of William and Mary Jane Clark BALLENTINE. He was a member of the Mt. Calvary church at Tremont City. Surviving BALLENTINE is a brother, Alpha BALLENTINE of St. Paris route two. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Richeson-Wickham funeral home in St. Paris and burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Tremont City. Spring st., and was taken by the emergency squad of the Springfield Fire Division. He was born in Good Hope, O., the son of Barney and Fannie HESTER GRIEVES and for many years conducted a second-hand furniture store on W. Main st., Springfield. He retired several years ago. His wife, Minnie, died in 1942. Survivors are three sons, Harry and Ralph, both Springfield, and Warren, South Bend, Ind.; two daughters, Mrs. Edna KNISLEY, Springfield, and Mrs. Esther SHOOK, Shelby, O.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna IRWIN and Mrs. Sylvia SHRIVER, both Milford Center, and six grandchildren. He had been a patient in the hospital for the past four years and had been seriously ill during the past four months. Mr. BERE was born in Burkittsville, MD n August 1891, and came to Ohio in 1912. A resident of this vicinity since that time, he was a member of the Donnelsville Lutheran Church, and a life member of the Clark County Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife, Lucille B. BERE; a daughter, Jean, a son Richard, his mother Mrs. Delilah BERE of Donnelsville,; three sisters, Mrs. Olive SMITH, Mrs. Ann WILBERT and Mrs. Mabel DERSCH, and two brothers, Edgar and Granville, all of this vicinity. The body was removed to the Trostel Funeral Home in New Carlisle where friends may call after noon on Tuesday. It will be removed to the Donnelsville Lutheran Church at noon Wednesday to lie in state until 2 p.m., when the funeral services will be held, the Rev. Fred Shirey officiating. Miss Bownocker was a member of Central Methodist Church and Mizpah Bible Class of the church. She was a daughter of the late William A and Belle Bownocker. Surviving are a sister, Mrs Ethel NELSON of Springfield, and a niece Mrs Glenn BALSLEY of Honolulu. Her body was taken to the Littleton Funeral Home.

Mrs Grace MECHLIN SPARLING, a former resident of Springfield and graduate of Springfield High School died Tuesday morning in her home in Toledo. Services and burial for Mrs Sparling, who left Springfield about 35 years ago, will be held in Toledo Thursday. Besides her husband, Ray, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs Don GILLHOUSE of Michigan and Miss Annabelle SPARLING of Toledo; two sisters Mrs Ruth CULP of 1221 E High St and Miss Nancy MECHLIN of 18 W Clark St; a brother Henry MECHLIN of Florida; and four grandchildren.

She was born in Licking County, Dec 11, 1874, a daughter of James Wesley and Molly B McANINCH. Twice married, her first husband, Charles SALES, preceded her in death. On Jan 16, 1898, she was married to Alex RAMBO whose death occurred Dec 6, 1947. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs George PACKER of Marion, and a son James D SALES of Bucyrus by the first marriage, and a daughter Mrs Oliver CONSTANCES of St Petersburg, FL and four sons, Frank RAMBO of Chippewa Lake, Carl RAMBO of Springfield, Wesley RAMBO of St Louis and Earl RAMBO of Columbus, by the second marriage. Two sons George and Felix RAMBO are dead, and another son died in infancy. Also surviving is a brother, William McANINCH, Belle Center. Burial will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center.

Pearl O. RICE, 72, of 427 E. Grand av., died in City Hospital at 8:45 p.m. Sunday following a week�s serious illness. He was born in Springfield on July 20, 1885 and had been a lifelong resident here. His parents were Horace and Cora Rice. Mr. Rice was a member of the First Baptist Church, Anthony Lodge, No. 455, F. and A. M. and the Springfield Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons. He had been employed by the Robbins and Myers Co. for 21 years, by the Springfield Metallic Casket Co. for 13 years and by the Springfield City Engineers Department for four years. Ill health had forced him to stop his work with that department about two years ago. Survivors include his widow, Cassie LaMarr RICE; a son, Dr. H. Lamarr RICE, assistant to the president and director of development at Denison University in Granville; a brother, Walter E. RICE of Springfield, and a sister, Mrs. Mabel OWEN of Springfield, and three grandchildren. Mr. Rice�s body was taken to the Richards Memorial Home for services at 3 p.m. Wednesday; with the Rev. Edgar Drumel of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Friends are requested to omit flowers, but in lieu of flowers, those who desire may make donations to the First Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Rice.

He had lived his entire life in Clark county and was a member of the Tremont Methodist church. Mr Evilsizor was a retired railroad section worker. pg. 1. Henry S. COOKE, 61, superintendent of city parks since 1950, died in City Hospital at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday. He had suffered a heart condition for several weeks. He had been a patient in the hospital since Aug. 21. He took over as parks superintendent on Aug. 1, 1950, and under his guidance Springfield city parks have become some of the finest in this area. Mr. COOKE resided at 814 Rice st. He was born Jan. 1, 1897. His survivors include his wife, Savannah. Mr. COOKE was a member of Auburn Lutheran Church. The body was taken to the Littleton funeral home.

Marvin C. Ingling, 54, of the Middle Urbana rd., was killed instantly Wednesday morning when a truck hit the station wagon he was driving head on, then toppled on it near Decatur, Ill. Mr. Ingling's passenger, Clifford Marsh, 36, of 2677 Horne Orchard dr., suffered a broken jaw and numerous cuts of the head and face. He reportedly was in serious but not critical condition in the Decatur-Macon County Hospital. Mr. Ingling was a field service man for the White Diesel Engine Division here of the White Motor Co. Mr. Marsh is a development engineer for White Diesel. The men left Springfield Tuesday afternoon in the company's station wagon for Plain View Neb. on a business trip. Deputy Sheriff C. D. Bean of Macon County said the truck jackknifed out of control as it came down a hill and a curve named Snake Curve just west of Decatur on US Route 36. It slammed the station wagon against a guardrail of a bridge over a creek, before falling on it. Deputy Bean said Mr. Ingling was pinned in the station wagon for several minutes before a wrecker could pull the wreckage apart. The spot was closed to traffic from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 6a.m. Wednesday because another truck jackknifed there and blocked the highway, Deputy Bean said. The crash that killed Mr. Ingling happened just 2 � hours later at 8:30 a.m. as he was driving west from Decatur. The high [ rest of line is missing] cause of rain, the deputy said. He said the truck driver, John Boyd, 51, of Springfield, ILL was questioned by a State's attorney, then released. The driver was not hurt. Mr. Ingling's body was taken to the Dawson and Wikof funeral home in Decatur. Mr. Ingling was born in Clark County, May 6, 1904, the son of Guy and Jennie Allen Ingling, and lived in Clark County all his life. He was a member of the United Church of Christ of South Vienna. A graduate of the old Plattsburg High School, he had worked for White Diesel several years. Survivors include his widow, Mabel; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Wilson of London, Route 1, and Mrs. Marie DeButy of Springfield.; a son, Harry of Route 5; five grandchildren; his parents of Springfield, Route 3; four brothers, George of the Ingling funeral home, South Charleston, Dr. Howard Ingling of Springfield, William of Fairborn, Route 1, and Robert of South Charleston; and three sisters, Mrs. Vera Hebble of Spring field, Mrs. Grace Bost of Beatty and Mrs. Elizabeth Bettelon of Tipp City. The body will be taken to the Ingling funeral home.

The family requests that flowers be omitted. Remembrances may be sent to the Heart Fund. Mr. COOKE died in City Hospital at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. COOKE, who resided at 814 Rice st., had been suffering from a heart condition for several weeks, and his condition had been critical for the past week. He had been a patient in the hospital since Aug. 21. Most of Mr. Cooke's adult life was devoted to landscaping. Before being appointed superintendent of city parks, he had worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He also had a landscaping business in Springfield and was responsible for much of the recent work done on the Wittenberg College campus. Snyder Park was the accomplishment of which Mr. COOKE was most proud. Civic leaders, residents and tourists alike praised the work of Mr. COOKE in making it "Ohio's most beautiful park." Homer PETERS, longtime member of the Snyder Park Golf Commission and a close friend of Mr. COOKE's, remarked Tuesday: "Henry put his entire heart and soul into his park work. He was down there every day while he was able just looking at his work and seeing what other little things could be done to make it just that much more attractive." According to Mr. PETERS, Mr. COOKE loved all his parks. "Just a couple of weeks ago," Mr. PETERS said, "Henry told me that he hoped he'd live long enough to see that Reid Park would be just as beautiful as Snyder Park." Mr. COOKE was born in Cuyahoga Falls, O., Jan. 6, 1897, and was the son of George and Sarah PATTERSON COOKE. He had lived in Springfield 50 years. Survivors include his widow, Savannah; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara RICE, of Tampa, Fla.; a granddaughter, Catherine Ann RICE, also of Tampa, a brother, James COOKE of Carmel, Calif., a sister, Mrs. Julia GUNDERSON of Detroit, and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Clark Lodge No. 101, F. and A. M. Khana Shahar Grotto, the Lion's Club and the American Institute of Park Executives. He was a veteran of World War I and belonged to the Auburn Lutheran Church. Pallbearers will be Richard SPITLER, Robert CALHOUN, Robert W. RICE, Gene CANAAN, George SMITH and Harold MOWELL. Flora PRINCE, 85, active church leader, dies. Miss Flora Prince, 85, an active women's club and church leader for many years, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Mercy Hospital after several months of failing health. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. PRINCE, once vice president of Wittenberg College and longtime member of the college faculty. Miss Prince was born in Springfield, Sept. 14, 1872. Her mother was Ellen SANDERSON PRINCE. She attended local schools and Wittenberg Academy and was graduated from Wittenberg College in 1892. She had lived at 1003 N. Fountain av. Miss Prince devoted much of her life to missionary activities of the United Lutheran Church of America. In Springfield, she was a member of the Fourth Lutheran Church. Her other affiliations included the Wittenberg Women's Guild, the Monday Afternoon Club and various civic and charity organizations. She was president of the Springfield Woman's Club from 1936 to 1938, and was a past national president of the Women's Missionary Society of the United Lutheran Church of America. At one time Miss Prince had been a member of the Board of Education of the United Lutheran Church. She held various offices on both state and local levels for the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society. Survivors include two nieces, Ellen EASTON of Springfield, and Mrs. Howard CARLSON of Bethesda, Md. A grand niece and grand nephew, Pamela and Lane CARLSON, also survive in Bethesda. Her body was taken to the Littleton funeral home for services at 3 p.m. Friday. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 until 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 3 until 5 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

He was a farmer all of his adult life. His wife, Urba Mae WALKER EVILSIZOR died Oct 2, 1942. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs Lloyd (Nellie) STRATTON , with whom he made his home, and Mrs William (Esther) NEVIUS of Springfield; two sons, Norman E EVILSIZOR; Springfield, route four, and Paul C EVILSIZOR of Bellefontaine; 10 grand children, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was a native of Maryland, and was born on Jan, 5, 1874, the daughter of Henry and Sarah MINNICH BYERMAN. Her husband, George, died in 1930. Mrs. BERE was a member of Donnelsville Lutheran Church. Survivors include a son, Granville, Springfield, Route 2; and three daughters, Mrs. Olive SMITH, Medway, Route 1, Mrs. Anna WILBERT, New Carlisle, Route 3, and Mrs. Mabel DERSCH of Donnelsville. In addition there are nine grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. The body was taken to the Trostel funeral home in New Carlisle where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and after 2 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. DEATON was a frequent visitor to Greene County and had many friends in the Yellow Springs area. She was born April 5, 1876, at Rochester, Minn., the daughter of John and Margaret THREINEN. She lived in Springfield all of her married life and was a member of St. Raphael Church there 57 years. In addition to her husband, Oliver B. DEATON , and sister-in-law, she leaves a nephew, Wilbur W. DEATON , 1310 Spillan Rd., Yellow Springs, and nine brothers and sisters in Minnesota, California and Canada. Reguiem Mass will be read Monday at 10 a.m. At St. Raphael Church. (this must have cemetery but I can't read it)
