David SHIELDS; three daughters, Mrs. Harry FIFER and Mrs. Kenneth SPARKS, both of Springfield, and Mrs. Bessie FEASTER of Newark, O.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The body was taken to Richards Memorial Home.

Born at Denison Chapel near Big Plain, O., she had spent most of her life in Madison County. Her husband, Willis, was killed when struck by a car three years ago as he crossed the road to a mail box in front of the rural home. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle BARKER, London; five sons, Sheldon at home; Wilson of Springfield; Kenneth of Mt. Joseph C. JUNG, 51, of 1100 E. Main Street died at 3 p.m. Friday in his residence. Mr. JUNG, a Springfield resident all his life, was an employee of the William Bayley Company for more than 35 years. Mr. JUNG was a member of St. Bernard Church and the National Sheriff's Association. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Grace JUNG, one sister, Mrs. Mary CAMPBELL and one brother, Edward JUNG, all of Springfield, and a number of nieces and nephews. His body was taken to the Degenhart-Conroy Funeral Home.

HEBBLE Name of Newspaper is Daily News, Springfield, OH on Saturday, May 22, 1954

Traffic Victim-Paul S. Hebble, 48, Killed In Auto Accident-Paul S. Hebble, 48, of 374 S. Arlington ave., was killed instantly in a truck-auto crash at 8:52 a.m. Saturday one and a half miles south of Bellefontaine on U.S. Route 68. Mr. Hebble was traveling north on the highway and apparently attempted to pass a truck which also was moving north on Route 68 and was turning left at an intersection, according to State Highway Patrolmen out of Bellefontaine. Mr. Hebble's auto struck the truck, owned by Central Mills, of West Liberty. The driver of the truck, Jason S. Brown, 59, of Box 6, West iberty, was no injured. Both drivers were alone. Mr. Hebble's body was taken to the Eicholtz funeral home in Bellefontaine. Mr. Hebble sustained chest, head and neck injuries, patrolmen said. He was an employee of the Springfield Works, International Harvester Corp., in Springfield. In 1940 Mr. Hebble was a Republican candidate for Clark County recorder. Mr. Hebble served in the US Army as a provost marshall during World War II, and previously served with the US Army Reserves and the Civilian Conservation Corps. He held the rank of captain in the US Army Reserves at the time of his death. Among survivors are three brothers, John and Theodore, letter carriers in the Springfield Postoffice, and Joseph M., proprietor of Hebble's Drug Store, 2520 E. High st. Dr. F. W. Kaylor, acting Logan County coroner, said he would issue a verdict of accidental death. He said the body was wedged between the truck and the bridge the two vehicles were crossing.

HEBBLE, LEOUNG, YOHE Name of Newspaper is Daily News, Springfield, OH on Sunday, May 23, 1954

Funeral arrangements were completed Saturday for Paul S. Hebble, 48, of 374 S. Arlington ave., who was killed instantly at 8:52 a.m. Saturday in a truck-auto crash in US 68, one and a half miles south of Bellefontaine. The body was taken to the Sprague funeral home in South Charleston for services at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Kenneth Murphy of the First Congregation Christian Church in Springfield in charge. Burial will be in Enon Cemetery. Mr. Hebble left Springfield at 8 a.m. Saturday to go to a Bellefontaine garage for auto repairs. State Highway Patrolmen said Mr. Hebble apparently attempted to pass a northbound truck that was making a left turn at an intersection. Dr. F. W. Kaylor, acting Logan County, Coroner, said death was due to a fracture of the neck, and a crushed chest. The auto nosed its way beneath the truck bed and smashed the left rear wheel. The truck driver, Jason S. Brown, 59, of Box 6, West Liberty, was not injured. Both drivers were alone. Mr. Hebble, an employee of Springfield Works, International Harvester Corp., in Springfield, was born in Springfield Feb 25, 1906. He was the son of John and Ella Green Hebble. He attended Springfield schools and was a veteran of World War II. He served as a provost marshall in India during the war. He was a lieutenant colonel in the US Army Reserves at the time of his death. Active in reserve affairs, he was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Anthony Lodge No. 455, F. and A.M., a member of Hardy Temple Scottish Rite of Evansville, Ind.; a member of Oakland Community Church and in the past had been active in Boy Scout affairs. He is survived by his widow, Vera,; one son, Jack, a student at Miami University at Oxford, O.; three sisters, Miss Almyra Hebble of Springfield, Mrs. Charles Yohe of Barberton, O., and Mrs. Gladys Leoung of Chicago, and three brothers, Joseph, Theodore and John, all of Springfield. In 1940, Mr. Hebble was a Republican candidate for Clark County recorder and had served int eh Civilian Conservation Corps.

State st., Mr. MARTIN had been in failing health for the last year. A Springfielder for 50 years, Mr. MARTIN retired from his occupation about 10 years ago. He was a member of Third Lutheran Church. Born Oct. 17, 1876, in Greene County, O., he was a son of Christian and Sarah BOWERS MARTIN. Surviving are his widow, Ethel; two sons, Harry L. and Cecil W., both of Springfield, and two grandchildren. His body was taken to the Littleton funeral home.

Mrs. Martha M. (Mattie) Lothschuetz, 69, of 511 W. Mulberry st., a lifelong resident of the community, died at 5:50 a.m. Monday in Mercy Hospital where she had been a patient since May 29. Her death followed an extended illness. Born July 30, 1883, in Springfield, she was a daughter of John W. and Mary Dolan Sullivan. Her husband, Joseph Lothschuetz, preceded her in death in 1936. Mrs. Lothschuetz was a member of St. Raphael Church. Surviving are a son, Joseph of Springfield; one sister, Mrs. John Fitzgerald of Torrence, Calif., and one brother, John Sullivan of Springfield. The body was taken to the O'Brien-Kenney funeral home where friends may call from noon Tuesday until time of services which are scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Raphael Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Tremont City Native Dies in Dayton Tremont City - Mrs Ollie Edna GREENE, 64, a native of Tremont City and a Montgomery County resident for 26 years, died at 9:30 P.M. Friday in St Elizabeth's hospital, Dayton, after a short illness. Mrs GREENE made her home on Chambersburg Rd, Dayton, Route 9. She was a member of the Sulphur Grove United Brethren church, the Ladies Aid Society of the church, the Wayne Grange and the Farm Woman's club of that organization. Surviving are the husband, William I GREENE; four daughters, Mrs Earl W STORCK of Dayton, Route 9; Mrs Theodore HULSIZER, of Springfield; Mrs Frank COUNTRYMAN, of Baldwin Park, Calif; and Mrs Dorothea HOLMES of Modesto, Calif; one son, Elwood GREENE of Sacramento, Calif; five brothers, Allie and Clem EVILSIZOR, both of Springfield, Marion EVILSIZOR, of Adrian, Michigan and Marley EVILSIZOR, of Tremont City; one sister, Mrs Henry CONLEY of Springfield; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Tuesday in the Sulphur Grove United Brethren Church, the Rev C E Pellett, pastor, in charge. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield, where a brief service will be held. The body is at Morris Sons funeral home in Fairborn where friends may call after noon Monday and until noon Tuesday when the body will be taken to the church where it will lie in state from 1 P.M. until the time of services.

Miss Elsie Irene FRANCIS, 57, of 604 West Grand Avenue, a native and lifelong Springfielder, died at 7:55 a.m. Saturday in Mercy Hospital where she was admitted several hours earlier. Miss FRANCIS was a member of Wiley Methodist Church and Rose City Temple No. 1032, Daughter of Elks, and served as a trustee of that organization. A daughter of Austin and Elizabeth WISE FRANCIS, she was born December 22, 1896. Surviving are three nieces, Mrs. Irene PRITCHETT AND Miss Geneva ISLEY, both of Springfield, and Mrs. Louise COUSINS of Tucson, Ariz., and four nephews, Greek GRAY of Toledo, Harold GRAY of Cleveland, Lemuel GRAY of New York and William M. Gray of Springfield. Her body was taken to the John W. Patterson funeral home.

Born October 27, 1879, in Hillsboro, Ohio, she had resided most of her life in Springfield. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Herman O. ABELE, wife of Attorney ABELE, and two brothers, Harley E. DONNELLY of Springfield and Charles A. DONNELLY of Dayton. Her body was taken to the Degenhart-Conroy funeral home.

Henry GAIER, 78, a former resident of Springfield, died Thursday night in Los Angeles after a prolonged illness. Mr. GAIER, a son of Blasius and Friedericka GAIER, left Springfield 35 years ago. Survivors include his widow; four-sisters, Mrs. Stephanie BECK, Mrs. Frieda RAY and Mrs. William MANGAN, all of Springfield, and Mrs. Emma COBLE of Santa Monica, Calif.; and three brothers, Gus and Theodore GAIER, both of Springfield and Anton GAIER of Indianapolis. Funeral services and burial will be near Los Angeles.

Walter Dunn KNISLEY, 78, of 620 Sherman av., died at 4:15 p.m. Saturday in Mercy Hospital following several months illness. A native of Ross County where he was born Oct. 8, 1876, he was a resident of Springfield for 50 years. He retired from the New York Central Lines track repair department six years ago. Mr. KNISLEY was a member of the Highland Community Church and of Champion Aerie No. 397, Fraternal Order of Eagles. Survivors include the widow, Nellie E.; four sons, Leo, Albert and Walter of Springfield and Lawrence of Spokane, Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. Charles MAIER of Milwaukee, Wis., and two brothers, John of Sabina, O., and Reuben of Pheonix, Ariz. He was the son of Thomas and Massie OGLE KNISLEY. The body was taken to the Littleton funeral home. Time of services has not been determined pending the arrival of the out-of-state children.

H. A. STANAWAY Crowell-Collier Employee Dies. Harold A. STANAWAY, 61, a Crowell-Collier publishing Co. superintendent, died at 2:20 a.m. Monday in Mercy Hospital following a one-day illness. A resident of 1123 Garfield Avenue, Mr. STANAWAY was stricken Sunday and admitted to the hospital. Mr. STANAWAY had been a Crowell-Collier employee for 34 years and was superintendent of the web press there at the time of his death. He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the Texas Sunshine Division, 140 Infantry Regiment, and spent 21 months in overseas duty. Mr. STANAWAY was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church as well as St. Andrews Lodge No. 619, F. and A.M., and the Springfield Printing and pressman's Union No. 348, A. F. of L. Born November 7, 1892, in Calumet, Michigan, he was a son of John and Mary RICHARDS STANAWAY. Surviving are his widow, Bessie M.; two sons, Jack and William, both of Springfield, and five grandchildren. His body was taken to the Littleton funeral home where friends may call beginning Tuesday evening. Services have been set for 3 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home by the Rev. Harold L. Myers, Jr., pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Mrs. Nan WARRELL, 79, of 312 Fremont Avenue, died at 5 a.m. Monday in Sparks Nursing Home at 735 West North Street. Mrs. WARRELL was a member of the former Second United Presbyterian Church. A native of Carey, Ohio, she was born August 5, 1875, a daughter of Jacob and Jennie DULEY WARNER. Her husband, Harry WARRELL, preceded her in death June 13, 1949. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. L. L. RIDGE; one granddaughter, Mrs. William JAMES, and one great-grandson, William JAMES, all of Springfield. Her body was taken to the Littleton funeral home where rites will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officiating will be the Rev. J. Emmett L EVILSIZOR, Troy, a former resident of Champaign county, died at 4:55 a.m. in the Strouder Memorial hospital in Troy. He has been ill since April 20 of this year. Born Oct 30,1898, in Springfield he was the son of Oran and Lillie (LINEBAUGH) EVILSIZOR. He was married to Mary A PETRIE in Lauranie, Kansas. They were married 34 years today. Mr Evilsizor moved to Troy 10 years ago from Champaign county. Survivors are two children; Ronald EVILSIZOR, with the U S Airforce in Samson NY and a daughter, Mrs. Winston LANG, Covington, Ohio; two granddaughters, six brothers, Clement of Troy; Harold of DeGraff; Cletus of South Vienna, Virgil of Madina, Robert of Springfield and Cecil of St Paris; three sisters, Mrs Wendell NIECE of St Paris, Mrs Stanley BISHOP of Urbana and Mrs Gaylord TERRELL of Cable. He was a member of the Baptist church in St Paris, belonged to the Eagles of Tipp City and the Moose lodge of Troy. He received most of his education in St Paris schools. His occupation was a restaurant operator and at the time of his death he operated the Brookville Drive-in. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Ervin Deeter funeral home in Troy with Rev Samuel Furrow of the Kingscreek Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday until time for services.

Mrs. Inez C. NEFF, 79, wife of John M. NEFF of Medway, Route 1, died in her residence at 8 p.m. Monday. She had been ill for two weeks. A native of Clark County and life-long resident of the Medway area, she was a member of the McKendree Methodist Church near New Carlisle. She is survived by her husband; a son, Robert; a sister, Mrs. Iona SMITH of North Hampton, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Morris Sons funeral home, Fairborn, by the Rev. Michael Ringenburg, pastor of the Medway Methodist Church. Walter RAGAN, 81, a former Springfield resident, died at 8 a.m. Monday in his home at 3122 E. Third st., Dayton. Mr. RAGAN had been a decorator at one time as well as an employee of the City Railway Co. of Dayton. He had resided in St. Petersburg, Fla., for many years and returned to Dayton in 1953. Survivors include his widow, Minnie; one son, Arlo D., of Dayton; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel ORT of Dayton, and one brother, George D. RAGAN of Springfield. His body was taken to the Banta funeral home. Services have been set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the W. Third st. Church of God. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dayton. Mrs. Barbara Frances JUNG, 44, wife of Albert P. JUNG, died in her residence, 1701 Lagonda Avenue, at 10:10 pm Wednesday. Mrs. JUNG, a native of Chicago, was a member of St. Bernard Church and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was born December 4, 1909. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Albert G. and Joseph A., both of Springfield, and a daughter, Miss Alice JUNG, also of Springfield. In addition, there are several nieces, nephews and cousins. The body was taken to the O'Brien-Kenney Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 pm Thursday. Services will be conducted at 10:15 a.m. Saturday in St. Bernard Church and burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. The Altar and Rosary Sodality of St. Bernard Church will hold services at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

He was the son of Lewis and Sarah (MORRIS) EVILSIZOR, and lived in Tremont City and Springfield before moving to California a few years ago. Survivors include four brothers, Henry A and Clem E, both of Springfield; John M of Tremont City and Marion L of Adrian, Michigan; a sister Mrs Lydia CONLEY, also of Springfield. In addition, there were several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the California City with burial there.

Nelson R. South Former IHC Employee dies
Nelson R. South, 59 of 201 E Madison av., died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday in a Columbus Hospital. A resident of Springfield the last 37 years, Mr. South was born in Champaign County March 24, 1895, the son of Samuel and Josephine Heller South. Because of ill health, he retired in February 1952, from his job as an inspector in the sheet metal department at the Springfield plant of International Harvester Co., Where he had worked 28 years. A member of Champion Aerie 397, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Mr. South is survived by his wife, Gertrude M.; a daughter, Mrs. Dolores L. Benedict of Ludwigsberg, Germany; three grandsons; one brother, Harold B. South, New Carlisle, and several nieces and nephews. John LONEY, 61, a clerk in the London Post Office for 18 years, died at 11 pm Thursday in Memorial Hospital, Hollywood, Fla. He was stricken with a coronary attack while vacationing there last week and had been in an oxygen tent since that time. His wife took a plane to Florida and was with him at the hospital. Born in Clark County Sept. 24, 1893, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael LONEY. He had lived most of his life in Madison County and prior to joining the Post Office staff he had been employed by the London Creamery. A member of the St Patricks Church and the Holy Name Society of the church, he was a former grand knight of London Council No. 1786 of the Knights of Columbus and had served in every office of the council. He was a member of London Aerie No 950, Fraternal Order of Eagles. Survivors include his widow, Marie ADELSBERGER LONEY; a brother, William of West Jefferson; two sisters, Mrs. Francis BEATHARD, London, and Miss Ursula LONEY, Columbus. The body is to arrive at the Schlechty Fichner Funeral Home Sunday morning and friends may call there from Sunday evening until time for services at 9:30 am Tuesday in St Patrick Church. Page 1 In spite of extremely heavy traffic on most highways and roads in the area on Easter Sunday, only one fatal accident was reported in Clark County over the weekend. In the fatal accident, John David MAXWELL, 21, 27 S. Clairmont av., was killed instantly and James Robert White, 21, of 223 N. Clairmont av., was injured critically. White was apparently the driver of the automobile involved, officers say. The accident occurred about 6:30 p.m., seven-tenths of a mile south of U.S. 40, on Titus rd., where White's car apparently failed to negotiate the third curve on the road. Clark County Deputy Sheriff William Cookus and State Highway Patrolmen investigated the accident at the scene. Clark county Coroner Austin Richards said Maxwell died as a result of skull fracture. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Both men were hurled from the 1955 model car which had run off the right side of the highway when White apparently lost control. Patrolmen said skid marks were noticeable for a 200 foot distance behind the spot where the automobile left the road. Then the car continued over a 200 foot strip on the berm and grass, barely missing a number of farm fences, the Highway Patrol reported. When the car returned t\in the road, it overturned several times and both men were thrown from the vehicle. The automobile came to a stop on its wheels, Patrolmen said the car was demolished. White, a student at Ohio State university and a part-time salesman for an automobile firm in Columbus, suffered a severe skull fracture. According to City Hospital attendants, his condition is "not good". White is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert H. White. His mother is office deputy for Clark County Sheriff J. Arthur Shuman. An inquest into the circumstances for the accident were set for 2:30 p.m. Monday in the office of the coroner. Although Patrolmen were unwilling to venture a guess on the speed of the ill-fated vehicle, they speculated White was operating well over the "safe" speed limit for the road. They said speeds above 35 miles per hour on the curves of the Titus rd. would be dangerous. A long-time resident of the Titus rd. said Sunday night that strangers traveling on the road are handicapped by the lack of signs there. He said farm fences are torn down frequently by motorists but he added that Sunday night's accident was the most serious one. He said a motorist who is not familiar with Titus rd. has difficulty judging the curves because there are no markers except for several which warn "cattle crossing". Mr. MAXWELL, son of Mr. & Mrs. John L. MAXWELL, was employed by Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. He was born on July 6, 1933. He was a member of the second Church of God and was a 1951 graduate of Springfield High School. Survivors are his parents, two sisters, Mary and Martha, both at home, and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. B. T. WHITTINGTON of Springfield. His body was taken to the Littleton Funeral Home and will be taken to the family home where friends may call from Tuesday morning until 10:00 a.m. Thursday, at which time the body will be taken to the Second Church of God for services at 11:00 a.m. The funeral will be in charge of the Rev. Carl Reynolds, pastor. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Chester W. SCHMELL, 51, of 535 Monroe St. was pronounced dead on arrival of a physician Wednesday following an apparent heart attack suffered in his residence. According to Fire Division emergency squadmen who were summoned at 11:03 am, the fatally stricken man fell against a burning cooking stove during the seizure and suffered extensive facial burns. Elmer C. Hunter, 72, of 1540 W. North St., a former employe of The Ohio Fuel Gas Co., was pronounced dead on arrival in city Hospital at 10:30 am. Wednesday. Death, which was unexpected, was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Hunter was an employe of the Gas Co. for 15 years prior to retirement seven years ago. At one time he had been associated with the Hoppes Manufacturing Co., Inc., for 25 years. He was a member of Anthony Lodge No. 455, F. and A. M., and attended First church of God. A native of near Portsmouth, O., he was born May 12; 1883. Surviving are his widow, Anna M.; one daughter, Mrs. Jessie M. Stalder of Springfield; one granddaughter and one great-grandson. His body was taken to the Littleton funeral home.
